Abstract
Ganglioneuroblastoma (GNB), predominantly observed in children, is an uncommon malignant tumor in adults, with established treatment protocols notably lacking. The present study details the case of a 20-year-old woman who presented with a left adrenal gland mass, identified during a physical examination. Additionally, an unidentified mass was noted near the renal hilum in the preoperative evaluation. Following thorough preoperative preparation, both the primary adrenal gland mass and the renal hilar mass were surgically removed. The procedure concluded successfully. Pathological analysis confirmed that the left adrenal mass was a GNB and identified the renal hilar mass as a metastatic extension. Postoperative examination revealed a new formation at the original surgical site, later verified as a postoperative scar. Through the publication of a case report and extensive literature review, the present study aims to enhance our understanding of this condition, providing valuable diagnostic, therapeutic and post-recovery references for this rare adult disease.

Abstract
Ganglioneuroblastomas (GNBs) are a rare subtype of neoplastic tumors that arise from the autonomic nervous system and contain both mature gangliocytes and immature neuroblasts. The primary age group affected by GNBs is the pediatric population, with less than 50 cases of adult GNBs existing in the literature. To the authors' best knowledge, only 21 cases of GNBs arising in the adrenal glands of adults have been reported. Herein we present a literature review examining the symptoms, treatment type, age, and sex of adults, and the presence of tumor metastases and calcification from the 21 cases reported in the literature.

Abstract
Uterine neuroectodermal tumors (NETs) are uncommon malignant neoplasm with poor prognosis. Ganglion-like cells with fibrillary background as major component of uterine NETs are extremely rare. We present a patient affected by uterine NET with frequent ganglion-like cells, resembling ganglioneuroblastoma. This case report is important to define the pathogenesis and establish better treatments for neuroectodermal tumors.

Abstract
RATIONALE Intracranial ganglioneuroblastoma represents a rare subtype of primitive neuroectodermal tumor. Here, we report a hippocampal ganglioneuroblastoma and a literature review of cerebral anglioneuroblastoma is carried out. PATIENT CONCERNS We report a 16-year-old male patient presenting with absence seizure and high-infiltration hippocampal ganglioneuroblastoma. INTERVENTIONS Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) indicates a space-occupying lesion with a well-defined margin in the right temporal lobe and hippocampus. However, hyper-signal on flair and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with a low apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value is detected, which prompts high tumoral invasiveness. INTERVENTIONS A total resection of tumor and subsequent chemotherapy combing with radiotherapy is performed. OUTCOMES For a follow-up period of 60 months, no evidence of recurrence and further seizures are detected. LESSONS High-infiltration hippocampal ganglioneuroblastoma is a rare event. MRI examination often showed features of low-grade gliomas, while hyper-signal lesion on DWI with a low ADC value can be detected. Complete resection combined with fractionated radiotherapy and chemotherapy was the optimal treatment for cerebral ganglioneuroblastoma.

Abstract
Neuroblastic tumours are common in childhood and adrenal glands are the most common site. Head and neck ganglioneuroblastomas are extremely rare and nose is a very uncommon site for a ganglioneuroblastoma. The management of this primitive sympathogonic tumour may vary depending on the age of the patient and stage of the tumour. We present a middle-aged man with a ganglioneuroblastoma of skull base, management of this tumour and a review of literature.

Abstract
Ganglioneuroblastoma is an uncommon malignant tumour, and it is extremely rare in adults. A 27-year-old woman was admitted to hospital complaining of commitment left loin pain for 7 months accompanied with fever for 1 day. Computed tomography (CT) scan shows a huge cystic solid mass among the rear of the pancreatic body and tail, inside of the spleen, and the top of the left kidney. Hormone examinations showed that the serum levels of glucocorticoid, aldosterone, norepinephrine, and epinephrine were normal. However, neuron-specific enolase (NSE) was significantly higher (289.46 ng/mL, normal level <16.3 ng/mL). Adrenal mass resection was scheduled. However, intraoperative separation was very difficult and adrenal tumour resection, resection of the pancreatic body and tail, left nephrectomy, and splenectomy were carried out. Pathological diagnosis was ganglioneuroblastoma.

Abstract
Ganglioneuroblastoma is a variant of neuroblastoma tumours with mature ganglion cell differentiation which occurs commonly in cervical, mediastinal and retroperitoneal locations. Approximately 90% of ganglioneuroblastomas are seen in children younger than five years old. There are 50 adult cases of ganglioneuroblastomas reported to date. Our patient is the 51st case and she is the first to be diagnosed in pregnancy. Our patient's tumour site was the thoraco-abdominal retroperitoneal space adjacent to her kidney. This tumour is generally diagnosed incidentally or by compression presentations, i.e. pain or neurological symptoms. Our patient's ultrasound scan appearances triggered suspicion of an atypical mass after presenting with loin pain. Caesarean section with tumour removal in the same session is preferred if tumour is small and localized. However in this case, there was uncertainty regarding the extent of the tumour. Therefore, the patient underwent thoracotomy after delivery to excise the thoraco-abdominal tumour, which extended from the level of the T9 to L2 vertebrae.

Abstract
Neuroblastoma is the most common and deadly solid tumor in children, and there is currently no effective treatment available for neuroblastoma patients. The repressor element-1 silencing transcription (REST) factor has been found to play important roles in the regulation of neural differentiation and tumorigenesis. Recently, a REST signature consisting of downstream targets of REST has been reported to have clinical relevance in both breast cancer and glioblastoma. However it remains unclear how the REST signature works in neuroblastoma. Publicly available datasets were mined and bioinformatic approaches were used to investigate the utility of the REST signature in neuroblastoma with both preclinical and real patient data. The REST signature was found to be associated with drug sensitivity in neuroblastoma cell lines. Further, neuroblastoma patients with enhanced REST activity are significantly associated with higher clinical stages. Loss of heterozygosity on chromosome 11q23, which occurs in a large subset of high-risk neuroblastomas, tends to be correlated with high REST activity, with marginal significance. In conclusion, the REST signature has important implications for targeted therapy, and it is a prognostic factor in neuroblastoma patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study was performed to investigate the potential impact of the number of involved extracranial organs on survival in patients with brain metastasis from breast cancer. METHODS The data of 196 patients treated with whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) alone for brain metastases from breast cancer were retrospectively analyzed. Six potential prognostic factors were evaluated for associations with survival. These factors included WBRT regimen, age, Karnofsky performance score (KPS), number of brain metastases, interval from breast cancer diagnosis to WBRT, and the number of involved extracranial organs. RESULTS The 6-month survival rates of patients with involvement of 0, 1, 2, 3 and ≥4 extracranial organs were 59%, 49%, 26%, 26% and 13%, respectively, and the 12-month survival rates were 45%, 36%, 17%, 17% and 13%, respectively (p<0.001). On multivariate analysis, the number of involved extracranial organs (risk ratio 1.17; 95%-confidence interval 1.02-1.35; p=0.028) maintained significance, as did KPS (p<0.001), but not age (p=0.27). CONCLUSION The number of involved extracranial organs is an independent prognostic factor of survival in patients with brain metastasis from breast cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Survival scores can help physicians select appropriate treatment for patients with brain metastasis. Primary tumors have different biological behavior justifying separate scoring systems for different tumors. In this study, a survival score was developed for patients with brain metastasis from SCLC. METHODS Data of 172 patients receiving whole-brain radiotherapy alone for brain metastasis from SCLC were included. Patients were assigned to a test (N=86) or a validation group (N=86). In the test group, Karnofsky Performance Score, number of brain metastases, and extracranial metastasis were associated with survival and included in the score. Scores for each factor were obtained from the 6-month survival rate divided by 10. According to the total scores, which represented the sum of the three scores, three prognostic groups were formed. RESULTS 6-Month survival rates in the test group were 3% for 5-8 points, 40% for 9-12 points, and 89% for 15 points (p<0.001). In the validation group, 6-month survival rates were 3%, 41%, and 89% (p<0.001). The comparisons between the three prognostic groups of the test group and the validation group did not show significant differences. CONCLUSIONS This new score appears valid and reproducible. It can be used to personalize the treatment to patients with brain metastasis from SCLC.
