Abstract
This paper introduces a unique and simple method for fabricating of inexpensive electrocatalysts for use in direct methanol fuel cells. The leached Fe1-Pd1 NFs/graphite (leached Fe1-Pd1/graphite) disk electrode was successfully obtained via uniform dispersion of Zn powder into the matrix of commercial graphite powder (98%), pressing under optimized pressure followed by the treatment in H2SO4 solution containing Fe+2 and Pd+2 cations, leading to the partial leaching out of Zn from graphite matrix, as well as partial electroless substitution of Fe-Pd nanoflakes with Zn metal. Based on the morphology studies, binary Fe-Pd nanoflakes with a large surface area uniformly dispersed on the leached graphite disk. The leached Fe-Pd/G disk showed the exceptional electrocatalytic activity toward methanol and formic acid oxidation without electrocatalyst poisoning being observed, in contrast to the leached Pd/graphite and leached Fe/graphite disks. This is due to the high surface area, and synergistic effect of Pd and Fe. The findings of this work may be used for the mass manufacture of graphite-based disks for commercial fuel cell applications using available graphite powders. The linear range of washed Fe1-Pd1/G electrocatalyst for measuring methanol was about 0.1-1.3 M, and its detection limit was calculated at about 0.03 M. Furthermore, the linear range of the nanocatalyst for measuring formic acid was about 0.02-0.1 M, and its detection limit was calculated at about 0.006 M.

Abstract
Structural, compositional, morphological and electrochemical characterization are important to determinate the influence of platinum in the methanol oxidation in alkaline media. These data and analysis support the research article catalytic performance of alloyed PtxPd1-x nanostructures supported on Vulcan XC-72R for the methanol oxidation in alkaline medium [1]. The data here presented included changes in the chemical composition, structure and microstructure. Also, complement data of cyclic voltammograms during activation in alkaline media as well as in presence of 1 M CH3OH to observe CO tolerance and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy measurements at two different overpotentials (0.2 and 0.3 mV) on the onset potential for methanol electro-oxidation are published in this paper. The data can be used as a reference to determinate the effect of added different amounts of Pd to Pt/C catalysts, using an organometallic compounds method and octylamine as stabilizer. The data provided in this article have not been previously published and are available to enable critical or extended analyses.

Abstract
Owing to their intrinsically high activity and rich active sites on the surface, noble metal materials with an ultrathin two-dimensional nanosheet structure are emerging as ideal catalysts for boosting fuel cell reactions. However, the realization of controllable synthesis of multimetallic Pd-based alloy ultrathin nanosheets (NSs) for achieving enhanced electrocatalysis evolved from compositional and structural advantages remains a grand challenge. Herein, we report a universal method for the construction of a new series of the three-dimensional (3D) multimetallic PdCuM (M = Ru, Rh, Ir) superstructures that consist of ultrathin alloy NSs. Different from the conventional 2D ultrathin nanostructure, the 3D PdCuM NSs that endowed with abundant routes for fast mass transport, high noble material utilization efficiency, and ligand effect from M to PdCu display large promotion in electrocatalytic performance for the methanol oxidation reaction. Impressively, the composition-optimized Pd59Cu33Ru8 NSs, Pd57Cu34Rh9 NSs, and Pd63Cu29Ir8 NSs show the mass activities of 1660.8, 1184.4, and 1554.8 mA mg-1 in alkaline media, which are 4.9, 3.5, and 4.6-fold larger than that of commercial Pd/C, respectively. More importantly, all of the PdCuM NSs are also very stable for long-term electrochemical tests.
