Abstract
The development of new coatings based on a biopolymer, epichlorohydrin-modified alginate, and alginate-epichlorohydrin-SrTiO3 nanocomposites incorporating SrTiO3 (STO) nanoparticles in the alginate (Alg) matrix (Alg-Ep-STO), has been addressed in this study. Various characterization techniques were employed to analyze the prepared compounds, including X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), as well as surface analysis methods such as Scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). Furthermore, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarisation (PDP) methods were used to evaluate corrosion inhibition and protection durability. The results demonstrate that the incorporation of STO nanoparticles into the alginate matrix with epichlorohydrin significantly improved the metal's resistance to corrosion. The experimental findings received reinforcement from various computational methods, including density functional theory (DFT), Molecular Dynamics (MD) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, which were employed to investigate the interactions between the Alg-Ep-STO nanocomposite and the copper surface. The computational outcomes revealed that the Alg-Ep-STO nanocomposite exhibits robust adhesion to the copper surface, maintaining a flat orientation, with its alignment being notably influenced by the presence of STO nanoparticles.

Abstract
This article outlines the synthesis of two derivatives of 4-amino-5-hydrazineyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol for the prevention of carbon steel corrosion in 1M HCl solution. These derivatives are (Z)-3-(1-(2-(4-amino-5-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)hydrazono)ethyl)-2H-chromen-2-one (TZ1) and 5-(2-(9H-fluoren-9-ylidene)hydrazineyl)-4-amino-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (TZ2). Weight loss, electrochemical experiments, surface examinations, and theoretical computation are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the two compounds to be used as corrosion inhibitors. Weight loss and electrochemical studies demonstrate that these derivatives reduce the corrosion rate of carbon steel. To examine the morphology and constitution of the carbon steel surface submerged in HCl solution as well as after adding inhibitors, surface examination tests are performed. Analysis of the test solution via UV-visible spectroscopy is employed to check the possibility of complex formation between inhibitor molecules and Fe2+ ions released during the corrosion process. In order to explore their biological activity, the antibacterial activity was investigated against (E. coli and Bacillus subtilis). Finally, theoretical confirmation of the experimental findings is provided by quantum chemical (DFT) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation studies. More adsorption sites are present in the derivatives of 4-amino-5-hydrazineyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol, which offer a novel perspective for developing new classes of corrosion inhibitors with substantial protective efficacy, especially at high temperatures.

Abstract
The acid solution is widely used in chemical cleaning, oil well acidifying, and other fields, which also brings the problem of metal corrosion that cannot be underestimated. However, adding an inhibitor is one of the most convenient and effective ways to slow down metal corrosion. N-heterocyclic compounds with high stability and durability, in line with the strategy of sustainable development, have been widely studied in an acidic environment. Imidazole, pyridine, and quinoline compounds, as the most commonly used corrosion inhibitors, can form a compact protective film via π electron cloud shifting towards the N atoms to generate coordination function. In particular, flexible modifiability makes N-heterocyclic compounds adapt to different corrosion environments readily, conducive to the formation of chemical bonds between compounds with metal surfaces to be better adsorption, so as to avoid the blemish of traditional inhibitors (such as inorganic salt and organic amines inhibitors) due to excessive usage, surface roughness of metal or environmental factor (for instance, temperature, pH and metallic) causing loose bonding between film and metal surface. More importantly, the efficient corrosion inhibition and toxicity of N-heterocyclic compounds have close to do with their own functional groups. Combined with the latest research achievement, the effects of different substituents on the corrosion inhibition and corrosion inhibition mechanisms were systematically reviewed in the acid-corrosive solution of imidazole, pyridine, and quinoline and their derivatives in this review article, respectively. In addition, the application and function of density functional theory in predicting the corrosion inhibition effect of corrosion inhibitors are also discussed. The future development trend was prospected according to the summarized research results.

Abstract
AbstractIn this study, Oregano (Origanum vulgare) leaf essential oil was studied as an environmental-friendly anticorrosion agent for carbon steel in aggressive hydrochloric acid. The corrosion inhibition of O. vulgare was characterized by surface morphology, electrochemical, weight loss, theoretical and computational methods. It was found that the highest inhibition performance of O. vulgare was 85.64% at 2 g/l in 1 M HCl. The results of Langmuir isotherm and adsorption thermodynamics investigation demonstrated that the O. vulgare inhibitor adsorbed on the metal surface by the formation of rigid covalent bonds. The adsorption and inhibition centers of the selected inhibitor were studied by the computational methods, resulting in that the hydroxyl functional groups and benzoyl rings are mainly responsible for the high inhibition efficiency.

Abstract
A series of novel 1-N-α-d-glucopyranosyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole xanthines was synthesized from azido sugars (glucose, galactose, and lactose) and propargyl xanthines (theophylline and theobromine) using a typical copper (I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. The corrosion inhibition activities of these new carbohydrate-xanthine compounds were evaluated by studying the corrosion of API 5 L X70 steel in a 1 M HCl medium. The results showed that, at 10 ppm, a 90% inhibition efficiency was reached by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The inhibitory efficiency of these molecules is explained by means of quantum chemical calculations of the protonated species with the solvent effect, which seems to better represent the actual situation of the experimental conditions. Some quantum chemical parameters were analyzed to characterize the inhibition performance of the tested molecules.

Abstract
A novel double-open-cubane (NNCO)6Co4Cl2 cluster with a Co4O6 core was made available under aqua-ultrasonic open atmosphere conditions for the first time. The ultrasonic clusterization of the (3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methanol (NNCOH) ligand with CoCl2·6H2O salts in ethanol yielded a high-purity and high-yield cluster product. Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), and ultraviolet (UV)-visible techniques were used to elucidate the clusterization process. The double-open-Co4O6 cubane structure of the (NNCO)6Co4Cl2 cluster was solved by synchrotron single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) and supported by density functional theory (DFT) optimization and thermogravimetric/differential TG (TG/DTG) measurements; moreover, the DFT structural parameters correlated with the ones determined by SXRD. Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), Mulliken atomic charge/natural population analysis (MAC/NPA), highest occupied molecular orbital/lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO/LUMO), density of states (DOS), and GRD quantum analyses were computed at the DFT/B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) theory level. The thermal behavior of the cluster was characterized to support the formation of the Co4O6 core as a stable final product. The catalytic property of the (NNCO)6Co4Cl2 cluster was predestined for the oxidation process of 3,5-DTBC diol (3,5-di-tert-butylbenzene-1,2-diol) to 3,5-DTBQ dione (3,5-di-tert-butylcyclohexa-3,5-diene-1,2-dione).

Abstract
This study aims to synthesize new chalcone oxime functionalized graphene oxide (CO-GO) and investigate the enhancement in corrosion protection. The morphology and structure of the synthesized CO-GO have been characterized by elemental analysis: Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover, the effectiveness of corrosion inhibition was investigated by utilizing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP). The results of the above analyses demonstrate that CO-GO has an outstanding corrosion inhibitor performance of up to 94% and acts as a mixed-type inhibitor with a primarily anodic action. The effect of temperature on a carbon steel surface indicates that the tested composites are chemisorbed. A few techniques were able to provide surface characterization such as scanning electron microscopy and ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectroscopy to confirm inhibitor adsorption on the carbon steel surface.

Abstract
In this study, the corrosion inhibition efficiency of thioridazine hydrochloride (TH), an antipsychotic drug, on mild steel (commonly used pipeline material in the oil and gas industry) in 1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) was evaluated using electrochemical techniques and weight loss method. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results suggest that TH significantly enhances the polarization resistance (Rp) of mild steel. Similarly, potentiodynamic polarization results showed that the corrosion current density (icorr) of mild steel decreased significantly with addition of TH. To understand the long-term effect of TH, mild steel was tested for 7 days in 100 ppm TH containing electrolyte. EIS results showed that the Rp did not change significantly after 24 h exposure as compared to 2 h exposure; whereas the Rp increased by 28% after 7-day exposure. Weight loss measurements revealed that the inhibition efficiency of TH is remarkably high (98.8%) after 7-day exposure. The adsorption free energy calculation suggests that at the initial stage (1-day) of mild steel exposure, TH was physically adsorbed onto the surface. However, at a later stage (7- day) the binding of TH was chemical, and hence the corrosion protection increased with increase in the exposure period. As compared to the wide range of corrosion inhibitors reported in the literature, TH has shown to be highly effective for mild steel. Thus, it can be suggested that TH drug waste is a potential corrosion inhibitor for mild steel pipelines in the oil and gas industry.

Abstract
The suitability of newly synthesized magnetic polyaniline-Chitosan nanocomposite decorated with silver nanoparticles (Ag@PANI-CS-Fe3O4) as a robust corrosion inhibitor for Aluminum (Al) in a 5 M HCl environment has been investigated via Weight Loss (WL), Alternating Current (AC)-Impedance Spectroscopy (IS), Potentiontiodynamic polarization (Tafel plots), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) techniques. The protection efficiency (PE) was mathematically modeled using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to fit an empirical relation in terms of temperature, nanocomposite concentration, and time using the face-centered central composite design. The model was accurate with a coefficient of determination (R2 = 99.27%). The negative Gibb's free energy of adsorption (ΔGads) values confirmed the spontaneity of Freundlich adsorption isotherm process on Al in 5 M HCl solution. The optimization simulation yielded maximum protection efficiency (of 97.88%) at 5 mg/L nanocomposite concentration, 1 h time, and an intermediate temperature of 304.8 K. Furthermore, the sensitivity of PE was evaluated to find that the low temperature 303 K is favorable for PE, whereas higher temperature will act adversely on PE. The results obtained by the RSM model are in agreement with the experimental observations.

An Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of the Efficacy of Pantoprazole as a Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in an Acidic Medium. ELECTROCHEM 2022. Abstract
The corrosion behavior of mild steel in a 1 M aqueous sulfuric acid medium in the presence and absence of the drug Pantoprazole was investigated using potentiodynamic polarization and quantum chemical calculations as well as Monte Carlo and molecular dynamic simulations. The potentiodynamic experiments indicated that this molecule, as a result of its adsorption on a mild steel surface, functioned as a mixed inhibitor. The goal of the study was to use theoretical calculations to acquire a better understanding of how inhibition works. The adsorption behavior of the examined compounds on the Fe (1 1 0) surface was calculated using a Monte Carlo simulation. Furthermore, the molecules were studied using density functional theory (DFT), especially the PBE functional, to determine the relationship between the molecular structure and the corrosion inhibition behavior of the chemical under research. The adsorption energies of Pantoprazole (in its three different protonation states) iron were calculated more precisely using molecular mechanics with periodic boundary conditions (PBC). The predicted theoretical parameters were found to be in agreement with the experimental data, which was a considerable help in understanding the corrosion inhibition mechanism displayed by this chemical.

Abstract
Disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate salt is known for its excellent coordinating properties with the metal ions. The present study deals with the investigation of the prepared Disodium EDTA functionalized chitosan in corrosion inhibition for mild steel in 1 M HCl. The modified chitosan was characterized by spectral studies, thermal analysis, and Zeta potential studies. The corrosion inhibition efficiency (%) was evaluated using the gravimetric method and electrochemical studies. The electrochemical studies included potentiodynamic polarization, linear polarization resistance, and electrochemical impedance methods. The modified chitosan polymer showed an inhibition efficiency of 96.63% for 500 ppm at 303 K. Adsorption process obeyed Langmuir isotherm. Experimental results and theoretical calculations endorsed initial physisorption followed by a chemisorption process. Surface characterization studies supported the formation of a protective film that enabled the inhibition process. Density functional theory, Monte Carlo studies, and molecular dynamics simulation studies show a good agreement with the experimental results. Two-way Analysis of Variance was performed to test the influence of immersion period and inhibitor concentration on the corrosion rate using the statistical software IBM SPSS 20.0. A quartic model was generated as the best fit with the highest R2 value of 0.973. Design Expert software was employed for statistical modeling fit.
