Abstract
The contamination of water by azo dyes is increasing rapidly due to their waste use in textile industries. These dyes are very toxic for living things. Therefore, it is very important to remove these dyes from water. Various materials are reported for this purpose. Here, the most effective system of bimetallic nanoparticles in smart polymer microgels was prepared. The microgel system of N-isopropylmethacrylamide (NMA) (monomer) and methacrylic acid (MAa) (comonomer) was synthesized by a free radical precipitation polymerization method and then bimetallic (Ag/Ni) nanoparticles were encapsulated into the P(NMA-MAa) microgels by in situ reduction of both silver and nickel salts by NaBH4 (reductant) after insertion of both (Ag+/Ni2+) ions. The P(NMA-MAa) microgels and Ag/Ni-P(NMA-MAa) hybrid microgels were characterized with FTIR, UV-vis, TGA, XRD, DLS, EDX, and STEM. The pH and temperature responsive behavior of Ag/Ni-P(NMA-MAa) was also evaluated. The catalytic efficiency of Ag/Ni-P(NMA-MAa) was assessed for degradation of methyl orange (MOr), congo red (CRe), eriochrome black T (EBlT) and methyl red (MRe) dyes under various conditions in aqueous medium. The apparent rate constant (k 0) value for MOr, CRe, EBlT and MRe was found to be 0.925 min-1, 0.486 min-1, 0.540 min-1 and 0.525 min-1 respectively. The Ag/Ni-P(NMA-MAa) was found to be an excellent recyclable catalyst.

Abstract
Lignocellulose is the primary component of many biomasses, including corn straw. Herein, lignocellulose in corn straw was disassembled into the individual polymers, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin via a mild and facile method. Subsequently, three porous carbon materials were prepared by carbonization and chemical activation of cellulose (PCCC), hemicellulose (PCHC), and lignin (PCLC). The three materials showed higher specific surface areas (2565.7, 2996.1, and 2590.3 m2 g-1) and higher porosities (1.4261, 1.5876, and 1.2406 cm3 g-1) than that of PCCS, a porous carbon material derived from raw corn straw (1993 m2 g-1 and 1.19 cm3 g-1). Of note, PCCC and PCHC exhibited higher adsorption (1025.5 and 950.1 mg g-1) of brilliant green (BG), than PCCS (876.7 mg g-1). Besides, the BG adsorption capacities of the designed materials were higher than that of most adsorbents, and 2-2.5 times higher than that of graphite oxide (416.7 mg g-1). These study results indicate that the disassembly of lignocellulosic biomass into cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin is an effective strategy for preparing various porous carbon materials with enhanced performances.

Abstract
In the current research work, a novel eco-friendly Fe3O4@SiO2 nanocomposite immobilized with Pseudomonas fluorescens biomass in calcium alginate beads (MSAB) was used as biosorbent for the elimination of hazardous Rhodamine B dye from aqueous system. The FTIR, XRD and SEM results showed that the MSAB possessed excellent surface properties for the effective sequestration of Rhodamine B. The batch adsorption results concluded that the adsorption of Rhodamine B using MSAB is highly influenced by the parameters such as pH, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration and contact time. The equilibrium and kinetics data get best fitted in the Freundlich isotherm and Pseudo first order kinetics for the studied adsorption system. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity was found to be 229.6 mg/g. The thermodynamic studies showed that the adsorption was spontaneous, feasible and exothermic in nature. The adsorption mechanisms are understood using the Intraparticle diffusion and Boyd model. Thus, this Magnetic silica alginate beads (MSAB) containing dead biomass of Pseudomonas fluorescens is considered to be an ideal biosorbent which can be used as an effective tool in treating the industrial dye wastewater treatment.
