Abstract
The study reports the development of a liquid smoke solution of rice husk ash (RHA) as a green corrosion inhibitor in NH4Cl solution in approaching corrosion protection for refinery facilities. The recent utilization of RHA has a partial solution to address the possible chemical to form a filming layer to disconnect bare metal and their environment. This work prepared the RHA solution by condensing the RHA vapor before adding it to various concentrations. The corrosion test of potentiodynamic and electrochemicals intends to discover the inhibitor's corrosion resistance before examining the electronic transition corresponding to the contribution of several functional groups using Ultraviolet Visible (UV-Vis) and Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Surface evaluation intends to unveil the nature of the corrosion by utilizing the Scanning Electronic and Atomic Force Microscope. The corrosion test result shows the depression of corrosion rate to 0.120 mmpy with high efficiency beyond 96 % in the addition of 7.5 ppm RHA inhibitor. The greater Nyquist semicircle diameter at high concentrations increases the adsorption of the RHA on the surface of C1018. The electronic transition of n-π* and π -π* shows an extensive contribution of C[bond, double bond]C, C[bond, double bond]O, and -OH based on the UV-Vis and FTIR test. The formation of a complex compound of Fe-(NH4Cl-RHA)n blocks the corrosion active sites to reduce the corrosion. This study paves the way for using RHA as an organic compound under NH4Cl conditions, such as in a refinery process facility.

Abstract
Finding new cost-effective and environmentally friendly anti-corrosion materials is a never-ending task. The present study is to prepare a new formulation based on chitosan derivatives with different degrees of substitution (chitosan-5-HMF) as an efficient green corrosion inhibitor to protect mild steel against corrosion in 1 M HCl. The inhibition performance of chitosan-5-HMF was determined by electrochemical tests coupled with theoretical study like as molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to assess the reactivity and adsorption mechanisms between chitosan-5-HMF and Fe. The obtained results revealed that chitosan-5-HMF3 performs excellently inhibition performance where its inhibition efficiency reached 97.01% at 200 mg/L, and it acted as an anode-based mixed inhibitor. SEM and contact angle analysis showed the formation of compact chitosan-5-HMF film on the steel surface. Molecular dynamic simulations also manifested that chitosan-5-HMF was absorbed more strongly on the metal surface in a parallel mode.

Abstract
Carbohydrate polymers (polysaccharides) and their derivatives are widely utilized in sustainable corrosion inhibition (SCI) because of their various fascinating properties including multiple adsorption sites, high solubility and high efficiency. Contrary to traditional synthetic polymer-based corrosion inhibitors, polysaccharides are related to the 4E dimension, which stands for Energy, Economy, Ecology, and Effectivity. Furthermore, they are relatively more environmentally benign, biodegradable, and non-bioaccumulative. The current review describes the SCI features of various heteropolysaccharides, including gum Arabic (GA), glycosaminoglycans (chondroitin-4-sulfate (CS), hyaluronic acid (HA), heparin, etc.), pectin, alginates, and agar for the first time. They demonstrate impressive anticorrosive activity for different metals and alloys in a variety of corrosive electrolytes. Through their adsorption at the metal/electrolyte interface, heteropolysaccharides function by producing a corrosion-protective film. In general, their adsorption follows the Langmuir isotherm model. In their molecular structures, heteropolysaccharides contain several polar functional groups like -OH, -NH2, -COCH3, -CH2OH, cyclic and bridging O, -CH2SO3H, -SO3OH, -COOH, -NHCOCH3, -OHOR, etc. that serve as adsorption centers when they bind to metallic surfaces.

The passivity breakdown of zinc antimony alloy as an anode in the alkaline batteries. Sci Rep 2022; 12:18925. Abstract
Zn is utilized as an anode in alkaline batteries because of its propensity to produce a passive colloidal layer on its surface. Then the surface should be reactivated in the passive region. Therefore, the passive state on the surface can be significantly hindered by utilizing a tiny percentage of Sb alloyed with Zn. Accordingly, the effect of minor Sb alloying with Zn on the performance of anodic dissolution and passivation in concentrated alkaline media (6 M KOH, which is used in the batteries) was studied using potentiodynamic and potentiostatic techniques. Besides, the passive layers formed at various anodic potentials were characterized utilizing scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The data of potentiodynamic measurements exhibited the active–passive transition curve of all studied specimens. All obtained results revealed that passivation is gradually hindered with increasing Sb content in the alloy, and less passivity was obtained at 1% Sb. Along this, a dramatic rise in current density at a particular positive potential (+ 2.0 V vs. SCE) to markedly higher values only of the electrodes containing Sb is observed.

Abstract
The development of effective and environment-friendly corrosion inhibitors is of great significance for the protection of mild steel in hydrochloric acid media. Accordingly, a natural polysaccharide mixture inhibitor composed of chondroitin sulfate derived from pig cartilage (CS-PC) and sodium alginate (SA) is developed here, and the synergistic effect of the two polysaccharides towards adsorption on mild steel in 1 M HCl is studied. The inhibition performance has been studied using weight loss test, electrochemical investigations, SEM, SECM and UV methods. The results indicate that the mixtures of CS-PC and SA strongly inhibit the corrosion of mild steel compared to individual inhibitors (i.e., 95.18 % versus 72.78 %), and show a synergistic inhibition effect. The structure-activity relationship between the molecular structure of the CS-PC + SA mixture and its corrosion inhibition performance has been discussed by using the quantum chemistry calculation and molecular dynamics simulations. It is believed that these results have certain guiding significance for the rational design of efficient corrosion inhibitor.
