Abstract
The facile modification of cotton fabrics for excellent self-cleaning, oil-water separation, and antibacterial activity is of great interest for multifunctional requirements. Herein, a durable, robust, fluorine-free multifunctional cotton fabric was fabricated via in-situ growing zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) on the cotton surface, followed by depositing hydrophobic SiO2 (H-SiO2) nanoparticles synthesized via an improved Stöber reaction. Meanwhile, the abundant hydroxyls of the cotton fabrics provided the necessary ion interaction sites for the uniform deposition of micro/nanomaterials, confirmed by the visualized Raman imaging technology. The resultant H-SiO2/ZIF-67@cotton fabric exhibited superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 159° and versatile self-cleaning, antifouling, oil-water separation, as well as prominent antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli. At the same time, the superhydrophobic cotton fabric possessed excellent durability and stability against harsh environments, including abrasion, washing, acid, base, salt, and organic solvents. This facile technique can be applied for large-scale production of multifunctional superhydrophobic cotton fabrics due to its easy operation, low cost, and environmental friendliness.

Abstract
Despite the development of many functional fabrics, they are unable to meet practical needs due to their monolithic functions and low durability. Therefore, a multifunctional waterborne polyurethane nanodroplet containing disulfide bonds (WSPU) was synthesized using a simple and environmentally friendly approach. The functional WSPU nanodroplet coating endowed fabrics with a variety of properties, including exceptional hydrophobicity, antibacterial properties, self-healing at room temperature, directional transport, etc. The functionalized fabric demonstrated durable mechanical and chemical stabilities due to the combined effects of disulfide bond reconstruction and hydrophobic chain migration. It exhibited the ability to regain its hydrophobic properties at room temperature after 50 friction cycles were performed without requiring external stimulation. Furthermore, the fabric maintained a water contact angle above 140°, even after being subjected to washing, boiling, and immersion in acid and alkali solutions. In addition, as a result of the fabric's Janus-like wettability, it performed various functions in accordance with varying weather conditions, in terms of wearing comfort and breathability. In hot weather or during exercise, the Janus fabric with the hydrophilic side facing outward enhances the process of sweat-directed perspiration, resulting in a notable cooling effect. On rainy days, the Janus fabric, when positioned with the hydrophobic side facing outward, exhibited excellent waterproof performance. This study presents an opportunity to explore the development of multifunctional fabrics through the combined effects of several functions.

Abstract
The superhydrophobic feature is highly desirable for oil/water separation (OWS) operation to achieve excellent separation efficiency. However, using hazardous materials in fabricating superhydrophobic surfaces is always the main concern. Herein, superhydrophobic filters were prepared via an eco-friendly approach by anchoring silica particles (SiO2) onto the cotton fabric surface, followed by surface coating using natural material-myristic acid via a dip coating method. Tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) was used in the synthesis of SiO2 particles from the silica sol. In addition, the impact of the drying temperature on the wettability of the superhydrophobic filter was investigated. Moreover, the pristine cotton fabric and as-prepared superhydrophobic cotton filters were characterised based on Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) and contact angle (CA) measurement. The superhydrophobic cotton filter was used to perform OWS using an oil-water mixture containing either chloroform, hexane, toluene, xylene or dichloroethane. The separation efficiency of the OWS using the superhydrophobic filter was as high as 99.9%. Moreover, the superhydrophobic fabric filter also demonstrated excellent durability, chemical stability, self-healing ability and reusability.

Abstract
Oil pollution caused by a large number of industrial activities and oil spill accidents has posed serious harm to the environment and human health. However, some challenges remain with the existing separation materials, such as poor stability and fouling resistance. Herein, a TiO2/SiO2 fiber membrane (TSFM) was prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method for oil-water separation in acid, alkali, and salt environments. The TiO2 nanoparticles were successfully grown on the fiber surface, endowing the membrane with superhydrophilicity/underwater superoleophobicity. The as-prepared TSFM exhibits high separation efficiency (above 98%) and separation fluxes (3016.38-3263.45 L·m-2·h-1) for various oil-water mixtures. Importantly, the membrane shows good corrosion resistance in acid, alkaline, and salt solutions and still maintains underwater superoleophobicity and high separation performance. The TSFM displays good performance after repeated separation, demonstrating its excellent antifouling ability. Importantly, the pollutants on the membrane surface can be effectively degraded under light radiation to restore its underwater superoleophobicity, showing the unique self-cleaning ability of the membrane. In view of its good self-cleaning ability and environmental stability, the membrane can be used for wastewater treatment and oil spill recovery and has a broad application prospect in water treatment in complex environments.

Abstract
It is a challenging task to directly apply emulsified silicone oil to the surface of cotton fabric to obtain superhydrophobic properties. In this work, a temperature-responsive microgel was first synthesized and the particle size and distribution of the microgel, thermo-responsiveness, and hydrophobicity of the microgel membrane were investigated. Then, through an emulsifying PMHS/water system with microgels as a Pickering emulsifier, a series of Pickering emulsions were obtained. The results showed that the emulsion had the best stability when the microgel content was 2.14 wt% and the mass ratio of PMHS/water was 3/7. The optical microscopy showed that the oil phase could be uniformly dispersed in aqueous solution, and the liquid phase particle size was about 10-22 μm. And stratification of the Pickering emulsion did not occur when placed at room temperature for over one month. Finally, when the addition of Pickering emulsion is 50 g L-1 and the rolling rate is 80%, through a simple two-dip-two-padding treatment, a cotton fabric can obtain the superhydrophobic effect with a static contact angle of 149.6° at 25 °C and 156.4° at 45 °C. The development of this work provides a simple method to make cotton fabric obtain superhydrophobic effects.

Abstract
Superhydrophobic materials have been widely applied in rapid removal and collection of oils from oil/water mixtures for increasing damage to environment and human beings caused by oil-contaminated wastewater and oil spills. Herein, superhydrophobic materials were fabricated by a novel polypyrrole (PPy)/ZnO coating followed by hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS) modification for versatile oil/water separation with high environmental and excellent reusability. The prepared superhydrophobic surfaces exhibited water contact angle (WCA) greater than 150° and SA less than 5°. The superhydrophobic fabric could be applied for separation of heavy oil or light oil/water mixtures and emulsions with the separation efficiencies above 98%. The coated fabric also realized highly efficient separation with harsh environmental solutions, such as acid, alkali, salt, and hot water. The superhydrophobic fabric still remained, even after 80 cycles of separation and 12 months of storage in air, proving excellent durability. These novel superhydrophobic materials have indicated great development potentials for oil/water separation in practical applications.
