Abstract
Communication is often impaired in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD), typically secondary to sensorimotor deficits impacting voice and speech. Language may also be diminished in PD, particularly for production and comprehension of verbs. Evidence exists that verb processing is influenced by motor system modulation suggesting that verb deficits in PD are underpinned by similarities in the neural representations of actions that span motor and semantic systems. Conversely, subtle differences in cognition in PD may explain difficulty in processing of complex syntactic forms, which increases cognitive demand and is linked to verb use. Here we investigated whether optimizing motor system support for vocal function (improving loudness) affects change in lexical semantic, syntactic, or informativeness aspects of spoken discourse. Picture description narratives were compared for 20 Control participants and 39 with PD, 19 of whom underwent Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD®). Treated PD narratives were also contrasted with those of untreated PD and Control participants at Baseline and after treatment. Controls differed significantly from the 39 PD participants for verbs per utterance, but this difference was largely driven by untreated PD participants who produced few utterances but with verbs, inflating their verbs per utterance. Given intervention, there was a significant increase in vocal loudness but no significant changes in language performance. These data do not support the hypothesis that targeting this speech motor system results in improved language production. Instead, the data provide evidence of considerable variability in measures of language production across groups, particularly in verbs per utterance.

Abstract
Growing evidence points to a spectrum of non-motor symptoms, including cognitive difficulties that have a greater impact on functional outcomes and quality of life than motor symptoms in cervical dystonia (CD). Some cognitive impairments have been reported; however, findings are inconsistent, and described across mixed groups of dystonia. The current review aimed to examine the evidence for cognitive impairments in CD. MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsychINFO and Web of Science databases were searched. Studies were included if they met the following criteria (i) cross-sectional or longitudinal studies of adults with CD, (ii) where the results of standardised measures of cognitive or neuropsychological function in any form were assessed and reported, (iii) results compared to a control group or normative data, and (iv) were published in English. Results are presented in a narrative synthesis. Twenty studies were included. Subtle difficulties with general intellectual functioning, processing speed, verbal memory, visual memory, visuospatial function, executive function, and social cognition were identified while language, and attention and working memory appear to be relatively spared. Several methodological limitations were identified that should be considered when interpreting the evidence to describe a specific profile of cognitive impairment in CD. Clinical and research implications are discussed.

Abstract
Several studies have been carried out in various languages to explore the role of the main psycholinguistic variables in word naming, mainly in nouns. However, reading of verbs has not been explored to the same extent, despite the differences that have been found between the processing of nouns and verbs. To reduce this research gap, we present here SpaVerb-WN, a megastudy of word naming in Spanish, with response times (RT) for 4562 verbs. RT were obtained from at least 20 healthy adult participants in a reading-aloud task. Several research questions on the role of syllable frequency, word length, neighbourhood, frequency, age of acquisition (AoA), and the novel variable 'motor content' in verb naming were also examined. Linear mixed-effects model analyses indicated that (1) RT increase in with increasing word length and with decreasing neighbourhood size, (2) syllable frequency does not show a significant effect on RT, (3) AoA mediates the effect of motor content, with a positive slope of motor content at low AoA scores and a negative slope at high AoA scores, and (4) there is an interaction between word frequency and AoA, in which the AoA effect for low-frequency verbs gradually decreases as frequency increases. The results are discussed in relation to existing evidence and in the context of the consistency of the spelling-sound mappings in Spanish.

Abstract
Objective Cognitive impairment (CI) in patients with cervical dystonia (CD) has been reported in many studies but with inconsistent findings. We investigated the prevalence, characteristics, and clinical factors related to CI in Chinese patients with CD. Methods Sixty-eight patients with CD and 68 healthy controls (HCs) were included in the study. Demographic and clinical data were investigated. A logistic regression analysis was conducted to discriminate the clinical factors associated with CI in patients with CD. A cluster analysis was performed to explore the different characteristics within the group of CD patients with CI. Results We found that 42 (61.76%) patients with CD had CI. The most frequent CI domain was visuospatial function (39.71%), followed by memory (38.24%), attention/working memory (29.41%), language (25.00%), and executive function (23.53%). CD patients with CI were older, less educated, had an older age of onset, more severe motor symptoms and disability, and experienced more pain than CD patients without CI. The presence of CI in patients with CD was associated with less education (OR = 0.802, p = 0.034) and a higher Toronto Western Spasmodic Torticollis Rating Scale (TWSTRS) severity subscore (OR = 1.305, p = 0.001). The cluster analysis identified two different subgroups of patients, one with relatively mild cognitive impairment and the other with relatively severe cognitive impairment. Conclusion CI is relatively common in Chinese patients with CD, with the most common CI domain of the visuospatial function. In the present study, CI in patients with CD was associated with less education and more severe motor symptoms, and patients with CI may be further divided into two subgroups based on different extent and domain of cognitive decline.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Action verbal fluency (AVF) task, a word fluency test, involves language and executive function and is known to be sensitive to fronto-striatal degeneration. However, the ability may also decrease qualitatively as well as quantitatively in normal aging. The objective of this study is to investigate the age-related quantitative and qualitative differences in AVF of Korean adults. METHODS We analyzed data from 78 participants of 40 young (mean age = 28.9) and 38 older adults (mean age = 67.7). The correct responses in the AVF task were measured for quantitative analysis. Qualitatively, the mean number of arguments required by each verb was calculated for syntactic analysis. For semantic analysis, we subclassified verbs according to their characteristics (e.g., moment vs. non-moment verbs/active vs. non-active verbs) and calculated the ratio for comparison. The results of AVF were also compared to those of semantic/phonemic fluency and the Korean version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-K). RESULTS The older group showed quantitatively lower performance in AVF than the young group (p < 0.01). The result of the AVF task significantly correlated (p < 0.01) with both semantic/phonemic fluency and the MoCA-K. Also, the older group produced syntactically more simple verbs than the counterpart (p < 0.01). In the semantic analysis, the older group produced fewer moment verbs (p < 0.05) but more non-moment verbs (p < 0.05) than the young group. There was no difference in active or non-active verbs between two groups. CONCLUSION These results indicated that the ability of AVF declines with age not only quantitatively but also qualitatively in relation to their cognitive changes.

Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) is associated with an action language deficit. Subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN DBS) deteriorates verbal fluency, but may improve verb naming more than nouns in PD. We investigated effects of grammatical class (verb vs noun), action content (action vs non-action) of words and unilateral, bilateral or no stimulation on naming. Nouns were named more accurately and faster by controls and PD participants; however the noun-verb difference was higher for PD participants. Language, executive and visuospatial function deficits in PD accounted for this difference between PD group and controls. Noun-verb difference was accounted by differences in imageability, familiarity and complexity of the stimuli. Non-action words were named more accurately than action words in the overall sample. Stimulation conditions did not have an effect on naming. This study in Turkish-speaking participants show an action language deficit due to underlying cognitive deficits without an STN DBS effect in PD.

Abstract
Embodiment theory suggests that, during the processing of words related to movement, as in the case of action verbs, somatotopic activation is produced in the motor and premotor cortices. In the same way, some studies have demonstrated that patients with frontal-lobe damage, such as Parkinson's patients, have difficulties processing that kind of stimulus. At the moment, no standardized data exist concerning the motor content of Spanish verbs. Therefore, the aim of the present research was to develop a database of 4,565 verbs in Spanish through a survey filled out by 152 university students. The value for the motor content was obtained by calculating the average value from the answers of the participants. In addition, the reliability of the results was estimated, as well as their convergent validity, using diverse correlation coefficients.
