Abstract
Ultrasonography is an appropriate first-line imaging technique for the characterisation of paediatric lumps, given its relative accessibility and absence of radiation exposure. Together with a thorough history and examination, ultrasonography can help to distinguish benign lesions from malignancy. It can also aid further characterisation of benign lesions to inform onward investigation and management. This review features the evaluation of common benign paediatric lumps together with their characteristic sonographic features, following correlation with histopathology results or clinical follow-up.

Abstract
Hemangioma is a disease of head and neck commonly, but its presence in the nasal cavity or sinus is rare. It is a form of benign tumour of vascular origin consisting of predominantly blood vessels. It can be categorized into capillary, cavernous and mixed type in accordance to its histopathology features. Retrospectively, we reviewed five cases of nasal hemangioma presenting at University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Center (UKMMC) between September 2007 and May 2015. Information on the patients age, gender, ethnicity, clinical symptoms, imaging findings (if available), treatment modalities were collected retrospectively for analysis. Five patients were analysed. Females were more affected than male with ratio of 4:1. All patients presented with unilateral lobular capillary hemangioma of the nasal cavity with 60 % (3/5) of the lesions on the right side and 40 % (2/5) on the left side. The common symptoms at presentation were epitaxis and nasal obstruction (5/5, 100 %), followed by rhinorrhea (3/5, 60 %) and facial pain (1/5, 20 %). All the patients underwent a surgical excision of the hemangioma. The five patients had no recurrence on subsequent follow ups. Computed tomography of paranasal sinuses can be performed to exclude bony erosions. Endoscopic sinus haemangioma excision provide good visualisation and better outcomes. In conclusion, nasal hemangioma should always be differential diagnosis for nasal lesions and surgical excision is still the preferred first line treatment.

Abstract
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are a type of high-flow vascular malformation that are characterized by abnormal capillary communications between the arterial and venous systems. While they are most commonly located in the head and neck region, their appearance in the nose is considerably rare, resulting in a paucity of literature regarding the surgical management of these lesions. We present the case of a 13-year-old male with a 6.5 × 6 cm AVM of the nose with a history of frequent nosebleeds since early childhood, often requiring aggressive measures, such as silver nitrate cauterization for control. Use of nasal decongestants and aminocaproic acid provided only transient improvement. After determination of arterial supply, AVM was approached with a combination of preoperative selective embolization and surgical excision with subsequent forehead flap defect coverage. Due to the size and complexity of this AVM, extra precautions were taken to avoid severe intraoperative bleeding, and femoral sheaths were placed prior to excision. The patient tolerated the procedure well, and with subsequent debulking surgery and Laser Hair Removal achieved an acceptable cosmetic outcome.

Abstract
Vascular anomalies constitute some of the most difficult diagnostic and therapeutic enigmas in the practice of medicine, ranging from an asymptomatic birthmark to life-threatening congestive heart failure. Hemangiolymphangiomas (HLA) are extremely rare vascular malformations of both lymphatic and blood vessels in which 80-90% are diagnosed during the first 2 years of life. Though rare, these vascular malformations have promising clinical outcomes. We report a case of a 28-year-old male who presented with a neck mass of unknown etiology. A computed axial tomography scan revealed a cystic mass, and subsequent aspiration biopsy showed lymphatic fluid. The mass was surgically excised and identified as a 6 × 6 × 3 cm3 multilocular cystic mass weighing 81 g. Histopathology showed cellular characteristics consistent with HLA. We review the salient clinical and pathophysiologic features of vascular anomalies.

Abstract
Acquired capillary hemangioma of the eyelid is very uncommon in adults. To our knowledge, only eight such cases have been reported in the literature till date. We report the case of a 25-year-old female with acquired capillary hemangioma of the left lower eyelid treated by cutting diathermy followed by reconstruction of the cutaneous and cartilaginous defect. This patient had a history of a similar lesion in the left malar region treated 5 years back. This case is being presented to highlight the occurrence of such lesions in an adult and to discuss the dilemmas in the diagnosis and management.

Abstract
Arteriovenous malformations are uncommon congenital disorders in vascular development. They frequently involve craniofacial structures and result in a morphogenic abnormality with ominous arteriovenous shunting. We present a huge AVM of the upper lip in an 18-year-old patient who was successfully treated by the combination method of presurgical endovascular embolization and complete resection of the lesion. Subsequent surgical defect in upper lip, which involved more than two-third of the lip length, was reconstructed via Webster's modification of cheek advancement flap.

Abstract
Vascular lesions of the head and neck include vascular neoplasms, vascular malformations, and hypervascular lesions, derived from nonvascular soft-tissue elements. We retrospectively evaluated magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography images of vascular lesions located in the head and neck. Twelve patients (seven males, five females) aged 1-68 years (mean age, 35.25 years) were included in this study. Most of the vascular lesions in our study were histologically diagnosed. The lesions were as follows: a hemangioma located in the parotid space (n=1); a hemangioendothelioma located in the parotid space (n=1); a hemangiopericytoma located in the larynx (n=1); a juvenile angiofibroma located in the nasopharynx (n=1); a glomus tumor located in the carotid bifurcation (n=1); venous malformations located in the parapharyngeal space, the pterygoid area, the orbital space, and the larynx (n=4); lymphatic malformations located in the parotid space and the supraclavicular area (n=2); and an arteriovenous malformation located in the infratemporal fossa (n=1). We present rare vascular lesions of the head and neck, which have typical radiological findings.

Abstract
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the maxilla are rare and potentially life-threatening conditions that can pose a therapeutic dilemma. We reported the first case of maxillary AVM in a 15-year-old girl who was treated by marginal hemimaxillectomy including overlying palatal mucosa and immediate replantation of the segment after removing the AVM tissues and teeth and covering by a full-thickness pedicled temporal muscle flap rotated into the mouth. Then, this preserved bone underwent distraction osteogenesis and dental implant rehabilitation successfully. This method was previously used for the definitive treatment of mandibular AVMs, and in this case, we applied this method for the first time in maxillary AVMs. In conclusion, this surgical method may be considered as a safe, convenient, and effective treatment and reconstructive modality for such vascular malformations in the maxilla and restores function and symmetry of the jaws while obviating the need for bone harvesting and future major reconstructive operations.

Abstract
Arteriovenous fistula (AVF), a type of vascular anomaly, is a relatively uncommon disease characterized by abnormal connections between the arterial and venous systems. Recently, remarkable advances in four-dimensional computed tomographic angiography (4D-CTA) have enabled detailed analysis of the hemodynamic features of vascular anomalies, which cannot be achieved by conventional imaging modalities. We report a case of AVF in a 59-year-old female presenting as a right neck mass. Using reconstructed animations from various viewing angles, 4D-CTA could clearly visualize not only a mass but the feeding artery and draining vein from the mass. 4D-CTA was useful for the diagnosis of AVF and to determine the surgical strategy preoperatively.

Abstract
The World Health Organization (WHO) system for defining and classifying soft tissue tumors is usually applied to lesions that occur in the trunk and extremities, but it also provides an excellent framework for characterizing nonepithelial extraskeletal tumors of the head and neck. Although nonepithelial extraskeletal tumors are in the minority among head and neck lesions, they are by no means rare. The WHO classification system recognizes nine major types based on histologic differentiation: adipocytic, fibroblastic or myofibroblastic, fibrohistiocytic, smooth muscle, skeletal muscle, vascular, pericytic, and chondro-osseous tumors, as well as soft tissue tumors of uncertain differentiation. Tumors of each histologic type may be further subclassified on the basis of their biologic behavior as benign, intermediate (ie, having malignant potential), or malignant. Imaging plays an important role in the noninvasive diagnosis and characterization of nonepithelial soft tissue tumors of the head and neck, providing clues about tumor grade, composition, extent, and involvement of adjacent structures. Although the imaging characteristics of many such tumors are nonspecific, consideration of the clinical history in concert with the imaging findings may help limit the differential diagnosis or even allow reliable diagnosis of some of these tumors.
