Abstract
The present communication reports on the synthesis of a novel methyl-pyridone azo fluorescent tag (MPAFT) were proven through 1H (NMR), FT-IR, UV-vis, and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The quantum chemical parameters of MPAFT were evaluated using density functional theory (DFT) analysis. It was further investigated for its latent fingerprint (LFPs) in various surfaces and anticounterfeiting applications. By exposing Level I-Level III, ridge features to UV light with a wavelength of 365 nm, a bioimaging investigation has also demonstrated the potential of MPAFT's emission behaviour. The cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) at MPAFT/MGCE (modified glassy carbon electrode) were used to explore the electrochemical sensitivity and reliable detection of dopamine (DA) in neutral PBS (pH 7) electrolyte solution, and the results show good sensitivity and detection. The lower detection limit for LSV was 0.81 μM under optimum conditions.

Abstract
Matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) plays an important role in wound healing. However, overexpression of MMP-9 leads to the degradation of the newly formed extracellular matrix, which delays wound healing, ultimately leading to chronic wounds. Therefore, timely monitoring of the MMP-9 activity using simple, cost-effective methods is important to prevent the formation of chronic wounds. In this work, ferrocene-modified MMP-9 cleavage peptide (Fc-MG) modified carboxymethyl chitosan hydrogels were prepared as electrochemical biosensors. In the presence of MMP-9, the peptide chain is sheared, and the electrochemically active ferrocene segment is released. Therefore, analyzing the electrochemical activity of hydrogels using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) can be used to determine MMP-9 activity. The results showed that the DPV peaks were correlated with the MMP-9 concentration in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.4) and Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM). Specifically, the corresponding coefficient of determination (R2) were 0.918 and 0.993. The limit of detections were 73.08 ng/mL and 131.71 ng/mL, respectively. Compared with the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the hydrogel biosensor determined the concentration of MMP-9 in solution with simpler steps. This study demonstrates a novel strategy based on Fc-MG-modified hydrogels to monitor MMP-9 activity in cell secretion samples and shows the potential application in chronic wounds.

Abstract
Dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA), which are vital components in human metabolism, cause several health problems if they are present in altered concentrations; thus, the determination of DA and UA is essential in real samples using selective sensors. In the present study, graphite carbon paste electrodes (CPE) were fabricated using ZnO/carbon quantum dots (ZnO/CQDs) and employed as electrochemical sensors for the detection of DA and UA. These electrodes were fully characterized via different analytical techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, and EDS). The electrochemical responses from the modified electrodes were evaluated using cyclic voltammetry, square wave voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that the present electrode has exhibited high sensitivity towards DA, recognizing even at low concentrations (0.12 μM), and no inference was observed in the presence of UA. The ZnO/CQD electrode was applied for the simultaneous detection of co-existing DA and UA in real human urine samples and the peak potential separation between DA and UA was found to be greatly associated with the synergistic effect originated from ZnO and CQDs. The limit of detection (LOD) of the electrode was analyzed, and compared with other commercially available electrodes. Thus, the ZnO/CQD electrode was used to detect DA and UA in real samples, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells.

Abstract
In this study, a novel Ni-BTC@Ni3S4 composite was fabricated by solvothermal reaction using an in situ etching vulcanization strategy and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analyses. The existence of a sulfur vacancy and Ni3+ in the as-prepared vein-like Ni-BTC@Ni3S4 greatly promoted the electrochemical sensing activity of the materials. Herein, a simple electrochemical sensor (Ni-BTC@Ni3S4/CPE) has been fabricated and used for the detection of dopamine (DA). The current signal of the Ni-BTC@Ni3S4/CPE-modified electrode was linear with the concentration of DA in the range of 0.05-750 μM (R2 = 0.9995) with a sensitivity of 560.27 μA·mM-1·cm-2 and a detection limit of 0.016 μM. At the same time, the sensor has good stability and anti-interference ability. This study could provide a new idea and strategy for the structural regulation of composite electrode-modified materials and sensitive sensing detection of small biological molecules.

Abstract
A chemically modified carbon paste electrode, based on a CoMOF-graphene oxide (GO) and an ionic liquid of 1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium bromide (CoMOF-GO/1-M,3-BB/CPE), was fabricated for the simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). The prepared CoMOF/GO nanocomposite was characterized by field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method, a N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm, and an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The electrochemical sensor clearly illustrated catalytic activity towards the redox reaction of dopamine (DA), which can be authenticated by comparing the increased oxidation peak current with the bare carbon paste electrode. The CoMOF-GO/1-M,3-BB/CPE exhibits a wide linear response for DA in the concentration range of 0.1 to 300.0 µM, with a detection limit of 0.04 µM. The oxidation peaks' potential for DA and uric acid (UA) were separated well in the mixture containing the two compounds. This study demonstrated a simple and effective method for detecting DA and UA in real samples.

Abstract
It is of great significance to develop efficient platforms for the detection of hypertoxic Hg2+ and H2S. Colorimetric have received much attention for the detection of H2S and Hg2+ in the last decades. In this work, an "on-off-on" mode colorimetric method based on MnO2/multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MnO2/MWCNTs) composite was constructed. MnO2/MWCNTs composite can oxidize TMB directly to form blue product (ox TMB) with a good simulated oxidase activity. In the presence of H2S, it can decompose the MnO2/MWCNTs composite causing the absorbance of the chromogenic system to decrease. When Hg2+ is introduced, the formation of Hg-S bond between Hg2+ and H2S inhibited the decomposition ability of H2S toward MnO2 composite, thus resulting in a color change from colorless to blue. Based on this phenomenon, the proposed "on-off-on" colorimetric sensor can be used for detection of H2S (off) and Hg2+ (on). Under optimized experimental conditions, this sensor showed a satisfactory linear relationship of H2S and Hg2+ with pleasant repeatability, acceptable method accuracy and stability. More importantly, the proposed colorimetric sensor has been successfully applied to the detection of H2S and Hg2+ in real samples, which not only provides a simple and cost-effective method to detect H2S and Hg2+ but also hopefully makes a certain contribution to environmental protection.

Abstract
A new nano-antibiotic was synthesized from the conjugation of multi-walled carbon nanotubes with levofloxacin (MWCNT-LVX) through covalent grafting of drug with surface-modified carbon nanotubes in order to achieve an effective, safe, fast-acting nano-drug with the minimal side effects. This study is the first report on the evaluation of in vitro cell viability and antibacterial activity of nano-antibiotic along in addition to the in vivo antibacterial activity in a burn wound model. The drug-loading and release profile at different pH levels was determined using an ultraviolet–visible spectrometer. MWCNT-LVX was synthesized by a simple, reproducible and cost-effective method for the first time and characterized using various techniques, such as scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis, and so forth. The noncytotoxic nano-antibiotic showed more satisfactory in vitro antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus compared to Pseudomona aeruginosa. The novel synthetic nano-drug possessed high loading capacity and pH-sensitive release profile; resultantly, it exhibited very potent bactericidal activity in a mouse S. aureus wound infection model compared to LVX. Based on the results, the antibacterial properties of the drug enhanced after conjugating with surface-modified MWCNTs. The nano-antibiotic has great industrialization potential for the simple route of synthesis, no toxicity, proper drug loading and release, low effective dose, and strong activity against wound infections. In virtue of unique properties, MWCNTs can serve as a controlled release and delivery system for drugs. The easy penetration to biological membranes and barriers can also increase the drug delivery at lower doses compared to the main drug alone, which can lead to the reduction of its side effects. Hence, MWCNTs can be considered a promising nano-carrier of LVX in the treatment of skin infections.

Abstract
The 3D printing technology has gained ground due to its wide range of applicability. The development of new conductive filaments contributes significantly to the production of improved electrochemical devices. In this context, we report a simple method to producing an efficient conductive filament, containing graphite within the polymer matrix of PLA, and applied in conjunction with 3D printing technology to generate (bio)sensors without the need for surface activation. The proposed method for producing the conductive filament consists of four steps: (i) mixing graphite and PLA in a heated reflux system; (ii) recrystallization of the composite; (iii) drying and; (iv) extrusion. The produced filament was used for the manufacture of electrochemical 3D printed sensors. The filament and sensor were characterized by physicochemical techniques, such as SEM, TGA, Raman, FTIR as well as electrochemical techniques (EIS and CV). Finally, as a proof-of-concept, the fabricated 3D-printed sensor was applied for the determination of uric acid and dopamine in synthetic urine and used as a platform for the development of a biosensor for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. The developed sensors, without pre-treatment, provided linear ranges of 0.5-150.0 and 5.0-50.0 μmol L-1, with low LOD values (0.07 and 0.11 μmol L-1), for uric acid and dopamine, respectively. The developed biosensor successfully detected SARS-CoV-2 S protein, with a linear range from 5.0 to 75.0 nmol L-1 (0.38 μg mL-1 to 5.74 μg mL-1) and LOD of 1.36 nmol L-1 (0.10 μg mL-1) and sensitivity of 0.17 μA nmol-1 L (0.01 μA μg-1 mL). Therefore, the lab-made produced and the ready-to-use conductive filament is promising and can become an alternative route for the production of different 3D electrochemical (bio)sensors and other types of conductive devices by 3D printing.

Abstract
The abnormal levels of two biological molecules, dopamine (DA) and Uric acid (UA), in human body are symptoms of diseases such as Parkinson's disease and arrhythmia. A novel lanthanum vanadate and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (LaV-MWCNTs) composite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was developed and utilized as an efficient electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous detection of DA and UA. LaV-MWCNTs composite was successfully fabricated by a facile ultrasonic self-assembly method and identified by means of a series of successive measurements including XPS, XRD, FT-IR and FE-SEM. The LaV-MWCNTs modified GCE shows the concentration linear ranges of DA and UA are 2-100 μΜ using DPV. The limits of detection (LODs; signal-to-noise ratio of 3, S/N = 3) of the LaV-MWCNTs modified GCE sensor for DA and UA were calculated to be 0.046 μM and 0.025 μM, respectively. The feasibility of using the LaV-MWCNTs modified GCE sensor to detect DA and UA in a typical biological fluid, fetal bovine serum, was also evaluated by the standard addition method.

Facile Pretreatment of Three-Dimensional Graphene through Electrochemical Polarization for Improved Electrocatalytic Performance and Simultaneous Electrochemical Detection of Catechol and Hydroquinone. NANOMATERIALS (BASEL, SWITZERLAND) 2021; 12:65. Abstract
Three-dimensional graphene (3DG) with macroporous structure has great potential in the field of electroanalysis owing to a large active area, excellent electron mobility and good mass transfer. However, simple and low-cost preparation of 3DG electrodes with high electrocatalytic ability is still a challenge. Here, a fast and convenient electrochemical polarization method is established to pretreat free-standing 3DG (p-3DG) to offer high electrocatalytic ability. 3DG with monolithic and macroporous structure prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is applied as the starting electrode. Electrochemical polarization is performed using electrochemical oxidation (anodization) at high potential (+6 V) followed with electrochemical reduction (cathodization) at low potential (-1 V), leading to exposure of edge of graphene and introduction of oxygen-containing groups. The as-prepared p-3DG displays increased hydrophilicity and improved electrocatalytic ability. As a proof of concept, p-3DG was used to selective electrochemical detection of two isomers of benzenediol, hydroquinone (p-BD) and catechol (o-BD). In comparison with initial 3DG, p-3DG exhibits increased reversibility of redox reaction, improved peak current and good potential resolution with high potential separation between p-BD and o-BD. Individual or selective determination of p-BD or o-BD in single substance solution or binary mixed solution is realized. Real analysis of pond water is also achieved.

Abstract
The presence of major heavy metals including Pb2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Hg2+, Cr6+, Cd2+, and Zn2+ in water is of great concern because they cannot degrade or be destroyed. They are toxic even at very low concentrations. Therefore, it is necessary to remove such toxicants from water. In the current study, polydopamine carbon nanotubes (PD-CNTs) and polysulfone (PS) composite membranes were prepared. The structural and morphological features of the prepared PDCN composite membranes were studied using FTIR, XRD, SEM, and EDS. The potential application of PDCNs for heavy metal removal was studied for the removal of Pb2+, Cr6+, and Cd2+ from wastewater. The maximum removal efficiency of 96.1% was obtained for Cr6+ at 2.6 pH using a composite membrane containing 1.0% PD-CNTs. The removal efficiencies decreased by 64.1 and 73.4, respectively, by enhancing the pressure from 0.50 up to 0.85 MPa. Under the same circumstances, the percentages of Pb+2 removal at 0.49 bar by the PDCNS membranes containing 0.5% and 1.0% PD-CNT were 70 and 90.3, respectively, and decreased to 54.3 and 57.0, respectively, upon increasing the pressure to 0.85 MPa. The results showed that PDCNS membranes have immense potential for the removal of heavy metals from water.

Abstract
Dopamine (DA) is an important neurotransmitter, which is created and released from the central nervous system. It plays a crucial role in human activities, like cognition, emotions, and response to anything. Maladjustment of DA in human blood serum results in different neural diseases, like Parkinson's and Schizophrenia. Consequently, researchers have started working on DA detection in blood serum, which is undoubtedly a hot research area. Electrochemical sensing techniques are more promising to detect DA in real samples. However, utilizing conventional electrodes for selective determination of DA encounters numerous problems due to the coexistence of other materials, such as uric acid and ascorbic acid, which have an oxidation potential close to DA. To overcome such problems, researchers have put their focus on the modification of bare electrodes. The aim of this review is to present recent advances in modifications of most used bare electrodes with carbonaceous materials, especially graphene, its derivatives, and carbon nanotubes, for electrochemical detection of DA. A brief discussion about the mechanistic phenomena at the electrode interface has also been included in this review.

Abstract
Herein, a novel and unique "off-on" single-excited dual-emissive ratio fluorescence sensor for highly selective and sensitive detection of dopamine and lysine/arginine has been developed via covalently connecting the yellowish-green fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) with the orange-red fluorescent AgInSe2@ZnS quantum dots (AISe QDs). This ratiometric fluorescence sensor provided with two-emission peaks at 495 and 575 nm under a single-excitation wavelength of 395 nm. The fluorescence of AISe QDs (F575) is effective quenched by dopamine and only efficientlyrecovered by lysine/arginine; meanwhile, the light of CDs (F495) remains unchanged. The fluorescence intensity ratio (F495/F575) showed a linear relationship with the concentration of DA in the range of 0-100 μM, and the detection limit as low as 0.21 nM. lysine and arginine with the detection limit of 0.36 nM and 26 μM, respectively. Furthermore, the fluorescence probe is successfully used to detect DA in human serum. Therefore, the as-synthesized probe shows excellent potential application for the determination of DA in real samples.

Abstract
Nanobiosensors are convenient, practical, and sensitive analyzers that detect chemical and biological agents and convert the results into meaningful data between a biologically active molecule and a recognition element immobilized on the surface of the signal transducer by a physicochemical detector. Due to their fast, accurate and reliable operating characteristics, nanobiosensors are widely used in clinical and nonclinical applications, bedside testing, medical textile industry, environmental monitoring, food safety, etc. They play an important role in such critical applications. Therefore, the design of the biosensing interface is essential in determining the performance of the nanobiosensor. The unique chemical and physical properties of nanomaterials have paved the way for new and improved sensing devices in biosensors. The growing demand for devices with improved sensing and selectivity capability, short response time, lower limit of detection, and low cost causes novel investigations on nanobiomaterials to be used as biosensor scaffolds. Among all other nanomaterials, studies on developing nanobiosensors based on metal oxide nanostructures, graphene and its derivatives, carbon nanotubes, and the widespread use of these nanomaterials as a hybrid structure have recently attracted attention. Nanohybrid structures created by combining these nanostructures will directly meet the future biosensors' needs with their high electrocatalytic activities. This review addressed the recent developments on these nanomaterials and their derivatives, and their use as biosensor scaffolds. We reviewed these popular nanomaterials by evaluating them with comparative studies, tables, and charts.

Abstract
The electrocatalytic performance of carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with ferrocene-derivative (ethyl2-(4-ferrocenyl[1,2,3]triazol-1-yl)acetate), ionic liquid (n-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate), and CoS2-carbon nanotube nanocomposite (EFTA/IL/CoS2-CNT/CPE) was investigated for the electrocatalytic detection of hydrazine. CoS2-CNT nanocomposite was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. According to the results of cyclic voltammetry, the EFTA/IL/CoS2-CNT-integrated CPE has been accompanied by greater catalytic activities for hydrazine oxidation compared to the other electrodes in phosphate buffer solution at a pH 7.0 as a result of the synergistic impact of fused ferrocene-derivative, IL, and nanocomposite. The sensor responded linearly with increasing concentration of hydrazine from 0.03 to 500.0 μM with a higher sensitivity (0.073 μA μM-1) and lower limit of detection (LOD, 0.015 μM). Furthermore, reasonable reproducibility, lengthy stability, and excellent selectivity were also attained for the proposed sensor. Finally, EFTA/IL/CoS2-CNT/CPE was applied for the detection of hydrazine in water samples, and good recoveries varied from 96.7 to 103.0%.
