Lipomatous angiomyofibroblastoma: A 20-year literature review

Vulvar Cutaneous Myxoma in a Patient With Carney Complex: Avoiding Pitfalls of Myxoid Lesions of the Vulva

We present the case of a 31-year-old woman who underwent surgical excision for a polypoid, vulvar lesion. Histopathological analysis showed a diffuse myxoid stroma admixed with scant collagen fibrils. Thin-walled and branching blood vessels were prominent, with a mild perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate. Cytologically bland spindle cells with inconspicuous nucleoli were immersed in a loose myxoid stroma. This combination of histopathological features along with multinodularity in the subcutaneous fat raised concern for deep angiomyxoma, a locally destructive neoplasm. Among our differential of myxoid lesions of the vulva, we ultimately favored the diagnosis of vulvar cutaneous myxoma. Upon further investigation, we learned that our patient was indeed known for the Carney complex. We highlight that vulvar cutaneous myxomas arising in the context of the Carney complex pose a significant diagnostic challenge for pathologists and should not be overdiagnosed as aggressive lesions such as deep angiomyxoma or other malignant stromal neoplasms.

Paratesticular Angiomyofibroblastoma-Like Tumor: Unusual Case of a Solidocystic Form

The angiomyofibroblastoma-like tumor of the male genital tract is a rare benign tumor. A total of 34 cases have been reported in the literature. We herein report an exceptional case of solidocystic form in its paratesticular location, in a 79-year-old man. Clinical examination objectified a right testicular induration. Macroscopic examination of the orchidectomy objectified a paratesticular solidocystic tumor formation. Microscopically, the solid area was composed of vessels with small caliber and turgidity of endothelial cells. These vessels were surrounded by clusters of epithelioid cells, sometimes having the appearance of giant cells. They were associated with spindle cells. The cystic area was uncoated. Immunohistochemically, the fusiform cells expressed Desmin and Smooth Muscle Actin. Endothelial cells and clusters of cells surrounding large vessels expressed CD34. The expression of receptors for estrogen and progesterone was negative. To our knowledge, this is the second solidocystic case of angiomyofibroblastoma-like tumor of male genital tract.

Lipomatous Angiomyofibroblastoma of the Vulva: Report of a Rare Variant

Angiomyofibroblastoma is a rare and benign tumor that usually involves vulvovaginal area in women of reproductive age and early menopause. We report a lipomatous angiomyofibroblastoma in a 55-year-old multigravid woman. This tumor measured 9 cm in size and contained prominent mature adipose tissue that comprised approximately 50% of the tumor.
