Abstract
We aimed to describe facial directional asymmetry (DA) in individuals with different manifestations of laterality. Due to the overlap between brain and face development, a relationship between the manifestation of brain laterality and DA is hypothesised. These findings could clarify the relationship between the brain and facial phenotype and help to plan facial or oral motor rehabilitation. The DA of 163 healthy individuals was assessed by two complementary 3D methods: landmark and polygonal surface analysis using colour-coded maps. Handedness was assessed using the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory, while chewing side and eye preferences were self-reported. The results showed a similar DA pattern regardless of sex and laterality (the right-sided protrusion of the forehead, nose, lips, and chin) and a slightly curved C-shape of the midline in landmark analysis. A relationship between lateralized behaviours and DA was found only in males, in females the DA pattern was more homogenous. Right-handed individuals and right-side chewers showed a protrusion of the right hemiface. Males, left-handed and left-side chewers, manifested a protrusion of the left lateral hemiface. We suggest that these specific differences in males may be due to their typically higher level of brain asymmetry. No apparent relationship was found between eyedness and DA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nasolabial fold formation is increasingly becoming a cause of concern for many people. However, no network meta-analysis has compared the efficacy of different fillers in treating nasolabial folds. This network meta-analysis simultaneously compared the efficacy and safety of various fillers. METHODS We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that used fillers to treat nasolabial folds. We extracted data of Wrinkle Severity Rating Scale (WSRS), Global Esthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS, investigator) scores, GAIS scores (self-reported) and adverse events. RESULTS We included 13 RCTs. WSRS scores at 6 months were higher in patients receiving HA than those receiving poly (L-lactic acid) (mean difference [MD] 0.630, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.275, 0.985) but significantly lower in patients receiving HA than in those receiving bovine collagen (MD - 0.580, 95% CI - 0.777, - 0.383) and porcine collagen (MD - 0.525, 95% CI - 0.790, - 0.260). Regarding adverse events, HA was significantly less likely to cause nodule formation compared with bovine collagen (RR 0.593, 95% CI 0.438, 0.803). CONCLUSION HA is a safe filler for correcting nasolabial folds, and poly (L-lactic acid) showed potential in treating nasolabial folds. Abstract
Measures of success for facial feminization surgery (FFS) have previously included improved rates of external gender perception as female and patient-reported outcome measures. In this study, we used artificial intelligence facial recognition software to objectively evaluate the effects of FFS on both perceived gender and age among male-to-female transgender patients, as well as their relationship with patient facial satisfaction. Standardized frontal preoperative and postoperative images of 27 transgender women undergoing FFS were analyzed by Amazon's AI facial recognition software to determine gender, femininity confidence score, and perceived age. Female gender-typing, improvement in gender-typing (preoperatively to postoperatively), and femininity confidence scores were analyzed. To assess patient satisfaction, FACE-Q modules were completed postoperatively. Preoperatively, FFS images were perceived as female 48.1% of the time, and postoperatively, this improved to 74.1% ( P =0.05). Femininity confidence scores improved from a mean score of 0.04 preoperatively to 0.39 postoperatively ( P =0.003). FFS was associated with a decrease in perceived age relative to the patient's true age (-2.4 y, P <0.001), with older patients experiencing greater reductions. Pearson correlation matrix found no significant relationship between improved female gender typing and patient facial satisfaction. Undergoing surgery at a younger age was associated with higher overall facial satisfaction ( r =-0.6, P =0.01). Transfeminine patients experienced improvements in satisfaction with facial appearance, perceived gender, and decreases in perceived age following FFS. Notably, patient satisfaction was not directly associated with improved AI-gender typing, suggesting that other factors may influence patient satisfaction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Several elements, including age, influence judgments of beauty and attractiveness. Aging is affected by intrinsic factors (e.g., genetics, race/ethnicity, anatomical variations) and extrinsic factors (e.g., lifestyle, environment). AIMS To provide a general overview of minimally invasive injectable procedures for facial beautification and rejuvenation to meet the aesthetic goals of patients across their lifespan, organized by decade. METHODS This case study review describes aesthetic considerations of females in their third to sixth decade of life (i.e., 20-60 years of age or beyond). Each case study reports the treatments, specifically botulinum toxin type A and soft tissue fillers, used to address aesthetic concerns. RESULTS Signs of aging, as well as aesthetic goals and motivations, vary by age groups, cultures, and races/ethnicities. However, there are overarching themes that are associated with each decade of life, such as changes in overall facial shape and specific facial regions, which can be used as a starting point for aesthetic treatment planning. Appropriate patient selection, thorough aesthetic evaluation, product knowledge, and injection technique, as well as good physician-patient communication, are essential for optimal treatment outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Nonsurgical facial injectable treatments can successfully enhance and rejuvenate facial features across different age ranges. A comprehensive understanding of facial aging and the aesthetic considerations of patients by the decade contributes to optimal treatment planning and maintenance.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Wrinkles commonly manifest in various areas of the face as individuals age. This study aimed to assess the association between facial wrinkles and different facial forms. MATERIALS AND METHODS An observational, prospective study was conducted on the facial photographs of 400 subjects aged 40-60 years, which were divided into four groups of 100 subjects each: Group 1, square facial form; Group 2, ovoid facial form; Group 3, square tapered facial form; and Group 4, tapered facial form. All groups had almost equal distributions of males and females. Six types of facial wrinkles were studied, namely, forehead, glabellar, canthal, nasolabial, wrinkles at the corner of the mouth, and perioral wrinkles. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for intergroup comparison, and an independent Student's t-test was used to assess gender differences in facial wrinkles. RESULTS Significant gender differences were observed for forehead wrinkles in Groups 1 and 3, canthal wrinkles in Groups 1 and 2, and right perioral wrinkles in Group 1 (p<0.05). There were non-significant gender differences between right and left-side facial wrinkles (p>0.05). Significant differences between the groups were observed for all facial wrinkles between the right and left sides of the face (p<0.05). There was a significant difference between the groups for the presence of glabellar, corner of the mouth, and perioral wrinkles, with the presence of higher wrinkles in ovoid and tapered facial forms compared to square and square tapered facial forms (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Females had more facial wrinkles than males, predominantly in the forehead region. The least prominent wrinkles were observed in the perioral region of the face. Glabellar, corner of the mouth, and perioral wrinkles were predominantly observed in ovoid and tapered facial forms.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Facial directional asymmetry research, including age-related changes, is crucial for the evaluation of treatment of craniofacial malformations/trauma in orthodontics, facial surgery and forensic sciences. The aim was to describe facial directional asymmetry (DA) in different age categories of adults using 3D methods. According to our hypothesis, facial shape DA (1) depends on sex; (2) differs among age groups; and (3) has wider variability in older age. MATERIAL AND METHODS A cross-sectional sample of healthy Czech adults without craniofacial trauma or anomalies consisted of 300 3D facial models (151 females). The age-range in the study was between 20-80 years. The shape asymmetry of 28 3D landmarks was evaluated using geometric morphometrics and multivariate statistics. RESULTS The manifestation of DA was similar in both sexes and in each age category; however, there were some statistical differences. In contrast to the ideal symmetrical face, the mean asymmetrical faces tended to create a slightly bent "C" shape of the midline. Therefore, the upper face was rotated slightly clockwise and the lower face counter-clockwise. The right eye was located slightly higher, with the nasal tip and mandibular region tilting to the left. Sex differences in facial DA were significant before the age of 40. DA was more significant in the youngest males than in the oldest, while the women's DA did not change. CONCLUSIONS The DA patterns were similar in both sexes and in all age categories (a slightly bent C shape of the midline); however, some significant local differences between male age groups were found. A significantly more pronounced asymmetry compared to other age groups was found only in the youngest males from 20 to 40 years. Moreover, significant sexual dimorphism of DA rapidly decreased after middle age, likely caused by the same age-related changes of the face during aging.

Abstract
The prevalence of edentulism is pandemic and people resort to complete dentures for the restoration of missing teeth and esthetics. However, the determination of the correct occlusal vertical dimensions (OVD) constitutes to play an important role in overall patient satisfaction. The objective of this study was to apply anthropometric methods to correlate the length of index finger (2D) to measure the OVD from base of the nose to the base of the chin (Sn-Me) and to assess satisfaction by comparing both the methods. A total of 80 edentulous patients were randomized and controlled for this trial into experimental and control groups. A correlation was found between Sn-Me and finger measurements, dentures' satisfaction was assessed after a 1-week follow-up and marked according to the Visual Analog Scale. Our findings established that finger measurements are greater among males, and in both genders, positive, and statistically significant correlations exist between the facial and finger length measurements. Moreover, 97.0% patients from experimental group were satisfied with the use of complete dentures through the new anthropometric method. Hence measuring the length of index finger can be an adjunct method for the restoration of OVD and is a relatively time-effective and simple method with a satisfactory follow-up.Trial registration: ID: NCT05153213 ( https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT05153213 ).

Abstract
Matching identity in images of unfamiliar faces is error prone, but we can easily recognize highly variable images of familiar faces - even images taken decades apart. Recent theoretical development based on computational modelling can account for how we recognize extremely variable instances of the same identity. We provide complementary behavioural data by examining older adults' representation of older celebrities who were also famous when young. In Experiment 1, participants completed a long-lag repetition priming task in which primes and test stimuli were the same age or different ages. In Experiment 2, participants completed an identity after effects task in which the adapting stimulus was an older or young photograph of one celebrity and the test stimulus was a morph between the adapting identity and a different celebrity; the adapting stimulus was the same age as the test stimulus on some trials (e.g., both old) or a different age (e.g., adapter young, test stimulus old). The magnitude of priming and identity after effects were not influenced by whether the prime and adapting stimulus were the same age or different age as the test face. Collectively, our findings suggest that humans have one common mental representation for a familiar face (e.g., Paul McCartney) that incorporates visual changes across decades, rather than multiple age-specific representations. These findings make novel predictions for state-of-the-art algorithms (e.g., Deep Convolutional Neural Networks).

Abstract
Undiagnosed malnutrition is a significant problem in high-income countries, which can reduce the quality of life of many individuals, particularly of older adults. Moreover, it can also inflate the costs of existing health care systems because of the many metabolic complications that it can cause. The current methods for assessing malnutrition can be cumbersome. A trained practitioner must be present to conduct an assessment, or patients must travel to facilities with specialized equipment to obtain their measurements. Therefore, digital health care is a possible way of closing this gap as it is rapidly gaining traction as a scalable means of improving efficiency in the health care system. It allows for the remote monitoring of nutritional status without requiring the physical presence of practitioners or the use of advanced medical equipment. As such, there is an increasing interest in expanding the range of digital applications to facilitate remote monitoring and management of health issues. In this study, we discuss the feasibility of a novel digital remote method for diagnosing malnutrition using facial morphometrics. Many malnutrition screening assessments include subjective assessments of the head and the face. Facial appearance is often used by clinicians as the first point of qualitative indication of health status. Hence, there may be merit in quantifying these subtle but observable changes using facial morphometrics. Modern advancements in artificial intelligence, data science, sensors, and computing technologies allow facial features to be accurately digitized, which could potentially allow these previously intuitive assessments to be quantified. This study aims to stimulate further discussion and discourse on how this emerging technology can be used to provide real-time access to nutritional status. The use of facial morphometrics extends the use of currently available technology and may provide a scalable, easily deployable solution for nutritional status to be monitored in real time. This will enable clinicians and dietitians to keep track of patients remotely and provide the necessary intervention measures as required, as well as providing health care institutions and policy makers with essential information that can be used to inform and enable targeted public health approaches within affected populations.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: We aimed to develop a cranial suture traction therapy program, a non-surgical therapeutic method for facial asymmetry correction. Materials and Methods: Six experts, including rehabilitation medicine specialists, oriental medical doctors, dentistry specialists, five experts, including Master’s or doctoral degree holders in skin care and cosmetology with more than 10 years of experience in the field, 4 experts including educators in the field of skin care, a total of 15 people participated in the validation of the development of the cranial suture traction therapy program in stages 1 to 3. Open questions were used in the primary survey. In the second survey, the results of the first survey were summarized and the degree of agreement regarding the questions in each category was presented. In the third survey, the degree of agreement for each item in the questionnaire was analyzed statistically. Results: Most of the questions attained a certain level of consensus by the experts (average of ≥ 4.0). The difference between the mean values was the highest for the third survey at 0.33 and was the lowest between the second and third surveys at 0.47. The results regarding the perceived degree of importance for each point of the evaluation in both the second and third stages of the cranial suture traction therapy program were verified using the content validity ratio. The ratio for the 13 evaluation points was within the range of 0.40−1.00; thus, the Delphi program for cranial suture traction therapy verified that the content was valid. Conclusions: As most questions attained a certain level of consensus by the experts, it can be concluded that these questions are suitable, relevant, and important. The commercialization of the cranial suture traction treatment program will contribute to the correction and prevention of facial dislocations or asymmetry, and the developed treatment will be referred to as cranial suture traction therapy (CSTT).

Abstract
BACKGROUND The subnasal lip lift is a surgical technique that elevates the "lip line" (interface between vertical maxillary incisor height and upper lip) to achieve a more youthful aesthetic. OBJECTIVES The authors sought to offer the first ever definition, to their knowledge, of 3-dimensional (3D) changes to the upper lip due to subnasal lip lift. METHODS A lip lift procedure was performed (on cadaveric samples) in a sequential manner from 2.5- to 5.0-mm intervals (n = 13). 3D photographs were taken with the VECTRA H1 system (Canfield Scientific, Fairfield, NJ), and 3D analysis was performed including vermillion height and width, philtral height, sagittal lip projection, vermillion surface area, and incisor show. A subset of samples (n = 9) underwent a modification of the technique by undermining the upper lip subcutaneous tissue off the underlying muscular fascia. RESULTS Vermillion surface area (baseline range, 1.45-5.52 cm2) increased by an average of 20.5% and 43.1% with 2.5-mm and 5.0-mm lip lift, respectively. Anterior projection of the vermillion increased in all cases by an average of 2.13 and 4.07 mm at 2.5 and 5.0 mm, respectively. Philtral height decreased in all cases by an average of 3.37 and 7.23 mm at 2.5 and 5.0 mm, whereas incisal show increased on average of 1.9 and 4.09 mm, respectively. CONCLUSIONS This study is the first to our knowledge to define the 3D morphometric changes to the upper lip following subnasal lip lift. Quantifying these changes aids the surgeon in preoperative planning and guiding patient expectations.

Abstract
PURPOSE The increasing popularity of cosmetic surgery and its effect on facial recognition software has attracted the attention of many researchers. Indeed, after having undergone cosmetic surgery procedures, nonlinear modifications that are made to facial biometric landmarks may lead to difficulty in recognizing individuals, who received a surgery, by facial biometric systems. This finding motivated us to discuss this topic differently and take advantage of these modifications to objectively study the results of cosmetic surgery. In this study, we propose facial biometry as a new method to objectively describe face changes after facelift surgery. PATIENTS AND METHODS For this study, 37 women, aged between 50 and 80 years old, were selected. These patients underwent facelift surgery between January 2013 and December 2017. For comparison of the biometric facial features before and after facelift surgery, 7 direct measurements (4 linear and 3 angular) were performed. RESULTS There was no significant difference between real and preoperative apparent age as per the face recognition software: (63.35 years +/- 6.52 vs 64.54 years +/- 7.49, P = .188 > 0.05). The postoperative apparent age was significantly lower than the preoperative apparent age as per the face recognition software (58.97 years +/- 7.19 vs 64.54 years +/- 7.49; P < 10-3). We found a statistically significant increase in the mean of the 3 ratios of the linear measures and a statistically significant modification in the means of the 3 angular measurements. CONCLUSIONS Biometry enabled us to evaluate the preoperative and postoperative facial features of patients before and after facelift surgery and to determine objectively whether the estimated age was improved by the surgery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Performing multiple cosmetic treatments in a single session to target different aspects of facial rejuvenation is an effective regimen. Picosecond lasers with a fractionated handpiece can target fine lines, which can supplement submental fat reduction procedures. However, limited data exist on the safety and efficacy of single-session treatment strategies. AIMS To assess the safety and utility of paired facial treatment with 755 nm picosecond laser with diffractive lens array (DLA) and 1060 nm laser lipolysis of the submentum. PATIENTS/METHODS A prospective clinical study investigated the utility of paired facial treatment with 755 nm picosecond laser with DLA and 1060 nm diode laser lipolysis of the submentum. Subjects received treatments during the same session. Subjects were enrolled to receive up to 3 picosecond laser and 2 lipolysis treatments at 2-8-week intervals. RESULTS Eleven subjects completed the study. Mean age was 52.1 years, and 81.8% were female. Fitzpatrick skin types II-VI were represented. For investigator global aesthetics improvement scores (GAIS), 63.6%, 81.8%, and 85.7% had improvement from baseline at 30-, 90-, and 180-day follow-up, respectively. At 180-day follow-up, 100% maintained improvement from 90-day follow-up. At 90-day follow-up, calculations for neck laxity showed a significant improvement of 11.7% from baseline (p < 0.001) with a mean amount of lift of 42.7 mm2 , which was above the predetermined threshold (20 mm2 ). No serious or unexpected treatment effects were observed. CONCLUSION Paired facial treatment with 755 nm picosecond laser with DLA and 1060 nm laser lipolysis of the submentum improved clinical aesthetic outcomes. This treatment regimen was demonstrated to be safe, well-tolerated, and well-liked by subjects.

Abstract
Three-dimensional engineering of skeletal muscle is becoming increasingly relevant for tissue engineering, disease modeling and bio-hybrid robotics, where flexible, versatile and multidisciplinary approaches for the evaluation of tissue differentiation, functionality and force measurement are required. This works presents a 3D-printed platform of bioengineered human skeletal muscle which can efficiently model the three-dimensional structure of native tissue, while providing information about force generation and contraction profiles. Proper differentiation and maturation of myocytes is demonstrated by the expression of key myo-proteins using immunocytochemistry and analyzed by confocal microscopy, and the functionality assessed via electrical stimulation and analysis of contraction kinetics. To validate the flexibility of this platform for complex tissue modeling, the bioengineered muscle is treated with tumor necrosis factorαto mimic the conditions of aging, which is supported by morphological and functional changes. Moreover, as a proof of concept, the effects of Argireline® Amplified peptide, a cosmetic ingredient that causes muscle relaxation, are evaluated in both healthy and aged tissue models. Therefore, the results demonstrate that this 3D-bioengineered human muscle platform could be used to assess morphological and functional changes in the aging process of muscular tissue with potential applications in biomedicine, cosmetics and bio-hybrid robotics.

Abstract
Average facial soft-tissue thickness (FSTT) databanks are continuously developed and applied within craniofacial identification. This study considered and tested a subject-specific regression model alternative for estimating the FSTT values for oral midline landmarks using skeletal projection measurements. Measurements were taken from cone-beam computed tomography scans of 100 South African individuals (60 male, 40 female; Mage = 35 years). Regression equations incorporating sex categories were generated. This significantly improved the goodness-of-fit (r2-value). Validation tests compared the constructed regression models with mean FSTT data collected from this study, existing South African FSTT data, a universal total weighted mean approach with pooled demographic data and collection techniques and a regression model approach that uses bizygomatic width and maximum cranial breadth dimensions. The generated regression equations demonstrated individualised results, presenting a total mean inaccuracy (TMI) of 1.53 mm using dental projection measurements and 1.55 mm using cemento-enamel junction projection measurements. These slightly outperformed most tested mean models (TMI ranged from 1.42 to 4.43 mm), and substantially outperformed the pre-existing regression model approach (TMI = 5.12 mm). The newly devised regressions offer a subject-specific solution to FSTT estimation within a South African population. A continued development in sample size and validation testing may help substantiate its application within craniofacial identification.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hollowing of the temple area is an early sign of aging that is often overlooked, but when corrected, can lead to significant subject and physician satisfaction. AIMS To assess physician and subject awareness of the impact of temporal hollowing on appearance and to evaluate treatment satisfaction following injection of calcium hydroxylapatite with integral lidocaine (CaHA(+)). PATIENTS/METHODS Subjects with temporal depression grade ≥2 on a validated Temple Hollowing Scale were recruited. CaHA(+) was injected supraperiosteally using a bolus technique. Photographs were taken prior to treatment and 30 days, and graded by three evaluating physicians using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) and Temple Hollowing Scale. The same physicians estimated subjects' age before and after treatment. Photographs were graded by patients as part of a satisfaction questionnaire. RESULTS The study enrolled 10 subjects aged 32-68 years old. Physician GAIS scores of subject appearance at 1 month were rated as "very much improved" in 80% and "much improved" in 20% of subjects. Temple hollows were graded as 1 after treatment in 90% of subjects. Following blinded review of patients' true ages, estimates for subjects' perceived age were on average 4 years younger than their actual age. Most subjects had not been aware of temple hollowing prior to treatment, but nine out of 10 were very to extremely satisfied with results, and all were willing to repeat treatment. No treatment complications were observed. CONCLUSION Treatment of the temple area can have a dramatic aesthetic effect and should not be neglected when addressing facial rejuvenation. CaHA(+) is an effective and well-tolerated product for use in the temple area and is associated with a high degree of subject and physician satisfaction.

Abstract
Many characteristics of facial aging are common to all. The age of their onset and which characteristics tend to predominate varies among individuals depending on many factors including their genetic makeup, life experiences, environment in which they live, and the regional, ethnic, or socially perceived group to which they belong. Forensic artists are often asked to provide sketches, 2D or 3D digital renderings, or sculptures representative of how an individual may appear at an older age based on a provided photograph, victim or witness description, and/or cranial remains. The challenge escalates when the subject is a member of a regional, ethnic, or other socially perceived group to which the artist has had little or no exposure. We describe aspects of adult facial aging that are of particular relevance to the forensic artist, applicable software tools, and pertinent facial databases, especially those emphasizing non-white populations. We demonstrate that facial averaging offers two key advantages to the artistic portrayal of facial aging: first, the technique requires relatively small reference databases from groups that may present logistical challenges to collect and second, that a facial average provides a useful representation of the gestalt of the age and ethnicity cohort to which a subject belongs. The artist may use an average along with other available information such as photo reference books, eyewitness descriptions, photos of immediate family members, and cranial structure to guide production of a facial composite drawing, digital age progression, or sculpture of the subject in question.

Abstract
Amniotic allografts are becoming more popular for use in soft tissue growth in many areas of medicine because of their immunoprivilege that allows them to proliferate into tissues without rejection by the host. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has crossed over from wide orthopedic uses to the aesthetic market for hair restoration and midface volume replacement, owing, in part, to the minimal risk associated with the procedure and the convenience of in-office application. In addition, growth factors provided by PRP help stimulate collagen synthesis in the aging face. However, the potential recruitment of the patient’s own mesenchymal stem cells to the PRP injection site would produce the most favorable and sustained aesthetic outcome. With the advancement of amniotic allograft procedures, the introduction of live mesenchymal cells of the amniotic membrane into the aging midface could be performed in-office similarly to the PRP treatment. This retrospective chart review compares aspects of the amniotic allograft procedure (office time, level of comfort, and downtime) with the aesthetic results of injection into the midface of those undergoing PRP therapy. Analysis of the changes to midface volume, specifically the Ogee curve, observed in the chronological progression of photographs illustrates aesthetic improvements in both PRP and amnion allograft treatment groups, with changes in the facial grading scale. Less patient downtime and slightly more rapid improvements were noted in the amnion group in comparison with the PRP treatment participants. Abstract
BACKGROUND Buccal fat pad excision is offered as a means of obtaining a more aesthetic midface. This procedure has been documented in the form of countless videos on Instagram and other social media platforms with no long-term patient follow-up. We performed a retrospective analysis of published data regarding buccal fat pad excision and sought to better elucidate pitfalls regarding this underreported procedure. METHODS A literature search was conducted in October 2017 through the PUBMED database regarding the utility of buccal fat pad excision in the setting of aesthetic improvement of the midface. Reference articles were screened to obtain relevant studies. A total of 121 citations were identified in the search but after eliminating duplicate studies and abstracts and utilizing predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria only 11 articles were satisfactory. None of these articles demonstrated any long-term patient follow-up. RESULTS Out of the 121 relevant citations identified, only 2 studies published describe a case series of > 5 patients regarding cheek or midface sculpturing with buccal fat pad excision for aesthetic purposes, the total sample size between these 2 studies was 53 patients. Neither of the studies had follow-up regarding patient satisfaction or related outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Buccal fat pad resection as an aesthetic improvement of the midface has been described, but follow-up regarding loss of subcutaneous fat with aging and late secondary deformities have not been published in the literature. Further research in long-term patient follow-up including patient satisfaction and the encouragement of reporting postoperative complications is warranted.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Knowledge of age-related nasal region measurements in Anatolian men; growth changes between adult and old age. BACKGROUND The nose plays a critical role in determining the external appearance of an individual. Craniofacial anthropometry has been commonly used in forensic anthropology and medicine. METHODS A total of 300 men (100 between 20-40 years; 100 between 40-60 years and 100 60-up years) were measured using a photographic technic from the Image J program. From the landmarks, 13 linear distances and 3 angles were calculated and averaged for age groups. RESULTS The means of nasal bridge lengths of three age groups were 60.30, 63.43 and 64.63 mm, respectively. The average nasal tip protrusions of three groups were 24.31, 26.69 and 27.53 mm, respectively. Nasolabial angle, nasal bridge length and tip protrusion, anatomic and morphologic nose width and root width were statistically different between the three age groups (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Results collected in this study could serve as a data bank for nasal anthropometry during aging and development. The assessment of teratogenic-induced traumas, craniofacial alteration, facial reconstruction, aging of dead person and personal identification may be assisted by age data from Anatolian men from age data banks. Abstract
PURPOSE To compare needle and microcannula injection techniques in regards to the microanatomical location of hyaluronic acid (HA) gel injected in the upper lip vermillion border of cadaver specimens. METHODS The upper lip vermillion border was injected transcutaneously with HA gel in 8 fresh hemifaces of 4 female human cadavers. Each hemiface was injected by a single experienced injector, the right side using a 27-gauge microcannula and the left side using a 30-gauge needle. A 2-cm region of each lip was excised lateral to a point 1-cm lateral to the philtrum. Specimens were fixed in 95% alcohol, embedded in paraffin, and stained with hematoxylin-eosin for histologic examination. RESULTS Most HA injected with either a needle or a microcannula was located within the orbicularis oris muscle, and the remaining HA resided within the subcutaneous fat. In 3/4 right (microcannula) hemifaces, 100% of the HA was located within the muscle. Only 2/4 left (needle) hemifaces had at least 95% of the HA located within the muscle. Overall, in right (microcannula) hemifaces, 93% of the filler was located within the muscle, and in left (needle) hemifaces, 79% of the filler was located within the muscle (p =0.14). CONCLUSIONS Most HA filler injected into the vermillion border after either microcannula or needle injection resides within the orbicularis oris muscle rather than in a subcutaneous/submucosal location. Injection with a microcannula shows a trend for more uniform intramuscular location compared with needle injection.

Abstract
Human DNA is the main unit that shapes human characteristics and features such as behavior. Thus, it is expected that changes in DNA (DNA mutation) influence human characteristics and features. Face is one of the human features which is unique and also dependent on his gen. In this paper, for the first time we analyze the variations of human DNA and face simultaneously. We do this job by analyzing the fractal dimension of DNA walk and face during human aging. The results of this study show the human DNA and face get more complex by aging. These complexities are mapped on fractal exponents of DNA walk and human face. The method discussed in this paper can be further developed in order to investigate the direct influence of DNA mutation on the face variations during aging, and accordingly making a model between human face fractality and the complexity of DNA walk.
