Abstract
Magnesium(II), calcium(II), chromium(III), zinc(II), copper(II), and selenium(IV) sitagliptin (STG) complexes—with the general formulas [Mg(STG)2(Cl)2]·6H2O, [Ca(STG)2(Cl)2], [Cr(STG)2(Cl)2]Cl.6H2O, [Zn(STG)2(Cl)2], [Cu(STG)2(Cl)2]·2H2O, and [Se(STG)2(Cl)2]Cl2, respectively—were designed and synthesized by the chemical reactions between metal(II, III, and IV) chloride salts with an STG ligand in situ methanol solvent in a 1:2 stoichiometric ratio (metal:ligand). Tentative structures of the complexes were proposed based on elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moments, thermogravimetric analysis, and spectral (infrared, electronic, and 1H NMR) data. The particle size and morphological investigation were checked on the bases of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray powder diffraction analyses. All the Mg2+, Ca2+, Cr3+, Zn2+, Cu2+, and Se4+ complexes were found to be six-coordinated, wherein the STG ligands act as bidentate chelating agents. This study demonstrates that pancreatic tissues are affected by the induction of experimental diabetes mellitus and clarifies the potential of the synthesized STG complexes, which was found to more significantly improve insulin secretion and the pancreatic and glycometabolic complications of diabetic rats than STG alone.

Abstract
Abstract
Metformin is one of the most effective drugs for the treatment of type II diabetes. Two new mixed ligand complexes of vanadyl(ii) and chromium(iii) ions with the general formula [VOL1L2]SO4 and [CrL1L2(Cl)2]Cl, respectively, where L1 is the metformin and L2 is the glycine amino acid, have been synthesized in MeOH solvent with 1:1:1 stoichiometry and characterized by several spectroscopic techniques. The spectroscopic data suggested that the [VOL1L2]SO4 complex possesses a square pyramidal geometry, where the [CrL1L2(Cl)2]Cl complex possesses an octahedral geometry. The L1 ligand coordinated to the VO(ii) and Cr(iii) ions via the N atoms of the imino (‒C═NH) groups, where the L2 ligand coordinated via the O atom of the carboxylate group (COO) and the N atom of the amino group (NH2). The interaction of ligands L1 and L2 with the metal ions leads to complexes that have organized nanoscale structures with a main diameter of ∼14 nm for the [CrL1L2(Cl)2]Cl complex and ∼40 nm for the [VOL1L2]SO4 complex.

Abstract
A new six intraperitoneal injections insulin-mimetic vanadyl(IV) compounds [(VO)(FA)(AAn)] (where n = 1–6: AA1 = isoleucine, AA2 = threonine, AA3 = proline, AA4 = phenylalanine, AA5 = lysine, and AA6 = glutamine) were synthesized by the chemical reactions between folic acid (FA), VOSO4, and amino acids (AAn) with equal molar ratio 1:1:1 in neutralized media. These complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and estimation of vanadyl(IV) metal ions. The thermal stability behavior of these complexes was studied by TG-DTG-DTA analyses. The structures of these complexes were elucidated by spectroscopic methods like infrared, electron spin resonance (ESR), and solid reflectance spectroscopes. The powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) study suggested the crystalline nature of the complexes. Magnetic moments and electronic spectra revealed the square-pyramid geometrical structure of the complexes. The conductivity results refereed that all synthesized vanadyl(IV) complexes were of a non-electrolyte behavior. The infrared spectra assignments of these complexes revealed that the FAH2 and AAn chelates act as a bidentate ligation. The chelation towards vanadyl (IV) ions existed via deprotonation of one of the carboxylic groups of FAH2 drug ligand, and so amino acids act as bidentate ligands via N-amino and O-carboxylate groups. Both scanning and transmission electron microscope (SEM and TEM) techniques were used to investigate the surface morphology. The main task of this research is the aim of designing a new insulin alternative antidiabetic drug agent. The antidiabetic efficiency of these complexes was evaluated in streptozotocin-induced diabetic male albino rats. Liver and kidney functions, insulin and blood glucose levels, lipid profile, and superoxide dismutase antioxidant (SOD) are verified identifiers for the efficiency of VO(IV)/FA/AAn system compounds as antidiabetic drug agents.

Now a days, considerable attention is being paid to the chemistry of the metal-drug interactions. Metals and their organic based complexes are being used clinically for various ailments. In this review, a comprehensive discussion about synthesis and diabetic evaluation of zinc and vanadium complex is summarized.

Abstract
A series of perimidine derivatives (L1-5) were prepared and characterized by IR, 1H·NMR, mass spectroscopy, UV-Vis, XRD, thermal, and SEM analysis. Five VO(II) complexes were synthesized and investigated by most previous tools besides the theoretical usage. A neutral tetradentate mode of bonding is the general approach for all binding ligands towards bi-vanadyl atoms. A square-pyramidal is the configuration proposed for all complexes. XRD analysis introduces the nanocrystalline nature of the ligand while the amorphous appearance of its metal ion complexes. The rocky shape is the observable surface morphology from SEM images. Thermal analysis verifies the presence of water of crystallization with all coordination spheres. The optimization process was accomplished using the Gaussian 09 software by different methods. The most stable configurations were extracted and displayed. Essential parameters were computed based on frontier energy gaps with all compounds. QSAR parameters were also obtained to give another side of view about the biological approach with the priority of the L3 ligand. Applying AutoDockTools 4.2 program over all perimidine derivatives introduces efficiency against 4c3p protein of breast cancer. Antitumor activity was screened for all compounds by a comparative view over breast, colon, and liver carcinoma cell lines. IC50 values represent promising efficiency of the L4-VO(II) complex against breast, colon, and liver carcinoma cell lines. The binding efficiency of ligands towards CT-DNA was tested. Binding constant (K b) values are in agreement with the electron-drawing character of the p-substituent which offers high K b values. Also, variable Hammett's relations were drawn.

Abstract
We use the TDDFT/PBE0/6-31+G* method to determine the electronic absorption and emission energies, in different media, of the four forms of tocopherol, which differ by the number and the position of methyl groups on the chromanol. Geometries of the ground state S0 and the first singlet excited state S1 were optimized in the gas phase, and various solvents. The solvent effect is evaluated using an implicit solvation model (IEF-PCM). Our results are compared to the experimental ones obtained for the vitamin E content in several vegetable oils. For all forms of tocopherols, the HOMO-LUMO first vertical excitation is a π-π* transition. Gas phase and non-polar solvents (benzene and toluene) give higher absorption wavelengths than polar solvents (acetone, ethanol, methanol, DMSO, and water); this can be interpreted by a coplanarity between the O-H group and the chroman, allowing a better electronic resonance of the oxygen lone pairs and the aromatic ring, and therefore giving an important absorption wavelength, whereas the polar solvents give high emission wavelengths comparatively to gas phase and non-polar solvents. Fluorescence spectra permit the determination, the separation, and the identification of the four forms of tocopherols by a large difference in emission wavelength values. Abstract
New vanadium(IV) and chromium(III) complexes of metformin (MFN) were synthesized upon the chemical interaction between vanadyl(II) sulfate monohydrate or chromium(III) chloride hexahydrate with metformin diabetic drug in the media of a pure grade of methanol solvent. The [(VO)2(MFN)2(SO4)2]2H2O and [Cr(MFN)3]·Cl3·6H2O complexes were discussed using microanalytical measurements, molar conductance, spectroscopic (infrared, ESR, XRD, and UV-vis), effective magnetic moment, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermal analyses (TG/DTG). The elemental analysis shows that VO(II) and Cr(III) complexes were associated with 1:1 and 1:3M ratios, respectively. The infrared spectroscopic results data received from the comparison between free MFN free ligand and their vanadyl(II) and chromium(III) complexes were proven that metformin reacted with respected metal ions as a bidentate ligand through its two imino groups. The kinetic thermodynamic parameters were estimated from the DTG curves. The microstructure changes of the VO(II) and Cr(III) complexes have been probed using positron annihilation lifetime (PAL) and positron annihilation Doppler broadening (PADB) techniques. The PAL and PADB line-shape parameters were found to be dependent on the structure, electronic configuration and molecular weight of metal complexes. Antimicrobial activity of the metformin free ligand and its vanadyl(II) and chromium(III) complexes were evaluated against the gram negative and gram positive bacteria strains and different fungal strains. Moderate antimicrobial activity recorded by disk diffusion inhibition growth zone method in vanadyl(II) and chromium(III) complexes compared to metformin free ligand.

Abstract
Three urate chelations were obtained when uric acid was reacted with UO2(CH3COO)2H2O, VOSO4·XH2O and ZrOCl2·XH2O salts with neutralized with 0.1 M NaOH aqueous media. The 1:2 metal-to-ligand complexes [(UO2)2(C5H2N4O3)2](H2O), [(ZrO)2(H2O)2(C5H2N4O3)2] and [VO((C5H3N4O3)2] were characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivity, (infrared, Raman and UV-vis) spectra, effective magnetic moment in Bohr magnetons, and thermal analysis (TG/DTG). The urate ligand coordinates as mononegative bidentate donor towards the mononuclear central vanadium atom and coordinated as binegative tetradentate mode towards the binuclear dioxouranium and zirconyl centers. The antibacterial activity of the metal complexes were tested against some kind of bacteria and fungi strains and compared with uric acid. The ligand, ZrO(II) and UO2(II) complex showed a week potential degradation on calf thymus DNA, whereas VO(II) complex slightly degraded the DNA.

Abstract
Macro elements are the minerals of which the body needs more amounts and are more important than any other elements. Trace elements constitute a minute part of the living tissues and have various metabolic characteristics and functions. Trace elements participate in tissue and cellular and subcellular functions; these include immune regulation by humoral and cellular mechanisms, nerve conduction, muscle contractions, membrane potential regulations, and mitochondrial activity and enzyme reactions. The status of micronutrients such as iron and vanadium is higher in type 2 diabetes. The calcium, magnesium, sodium, chromium, cobalt, iodine, iron, selenium, manganese, and zinc seem to be low in type 2 diabetes while elements such as potassium and copper have no effect. In this review, we emphasized the status of macro and trace elements in type 2 diabetes and its advantages or disadvantages; this helps to understand the mechanism, progression, and prevention of type 2 diabetes due to the lack and deficiency of different macro and trace elements.

Abstract
Oxovanadium(IV) complexes, viz. [VO(Fc-tpy)(Curc)](ClO4) (1), [VO(Fc-tpy)(bDHC)](ClO4) (2), [VO(Fc-tpy)(bDMC)](ClO4) (3) and [VO(Ph-tpy)(Curc)](ClO4) (4), of 4'-ferrocenyl-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine (Fc-tpy) and 4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine (Ph-tpy) and monoanionic curcumin (Curc), bis-dehydroxycurcmin (bDHC) and bis-demethoxycurcumin (bDMC) were prepared, characterized and their photo-induced DNA cleavage activity and photocytotoxicity in visible light studied. The ferrocenyl complexes 1-3 showed an intense metal-to-ligand charge transfer band near 585 nm in DMF and displayed Fc(+)/Fc and V(IV)/V(III) redox couples near 0.65 V and -1.05 V vs. SCE in DMF-0.1 M TBAP. The complexes as avid binders to calf thymus DNA showed significant photocleavage of plasmid DNA in red light of 647 nm forming OH radicals. The complexes showed photocytotoxicity in HeLa and Hep G2 cancer cells in visible light of 400-700 nm with low dark toxicity. ICP-MS and fluorescence microscopic studies exhibited significant cellular uptake of the complexes within 4 h of treatment with complexes. The treatment with complex 1 resulted in the formation of reactive oxygen species inside the HeLa cells which was evidenced from the DCFDA assay.

Abstract
The scope of this work was to synthesize a novel bifunctionalized vanadyl(VO)(2+)/vitamin B 6 complex. The diabetic therapeutic efficacy of the new complex was investigated in alloxan-induced diabetic mice. The results suggested that vanadyl(VO)(2+)/vit B6 complex has an anti-diabetic potency, improved the lipid profile and liver and kidney functions. The new complex possesses an antioxidant activity. The current results support the therapeutic potentiality of vanadyl(VO)(2+)/vitamin B 6 complex for the management of diabetes.

Abstract
Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes of trimethoprim and pyrimethamine were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, UV-Vis, FTIR, and NMR spectroscopy. The complexes are formulated as four coordinate square planar species containing two molecules of the drugs and two chloride or thiocyanate ions. The coordination of the metal ions to the pyrimidine nitrogen atom of the drugs was confirmed by spectroscopic analyses. The complexes were screened for their antibacterial activities against eight bacterial isolates. They showed varied activities with the active metal complexes showing more enhanced inhibition than either trimethoprim or pyrimethamine. The Pd(II) complexes of pyrimethamine showed unique inhibitory activities against P. aeruginosa and B. pumilus, and none of the other complexes or the drugs showed any activity against these bacteria isolates. The MIC and MBC determinations revealed that these Pd(II) complexes are the most active. Structure activity relationship showed that Pt(II) complexes containing chloride ions are more active, while for Pd(II) complexes containing thiocyanate ions showed more enhanced activity than those containing chloride ions.
