Abstract
The phenomenon of remaining paramesonephric ducts (uterus masculinus) in males of some animal species concerning its role is still an unresolved issue. Now it is well-recognized that sex hormonal regulation of reproductive physiology involves also fast nongenomic control of cellular processes through noncanonical signaling. Herein, in the uterus masculinus of Eurasian beaver membrane androgen receptor (metal ion transporter Zrt- and Irt-like protein 9; ZIP9) and membrane estrogen receptor (G protein-coupled estrogen receptor; GPER) were studied. Scanning electron microscopy together with anatomical analysis revealed that Eurasian male beavers possess one double uterus (uterus duplex). Two odd parts open into the vagina but do not form a common lumen. The length of the horns is the most differential feature of this organ in studied animals. Uterus masculinus is not a tightly closed tubular structure. Histological analysis showed an analogy to the female uterus structure however no glands but gland-like structures were observed. The presence and abundant localization of ZIP9 and GPER proteins in cells of uterus masculinus was confirmed by immunohistochemistry while their expression was measured by western blotting. GPER expression in remnants was lower (P < 0.001) than those in the female uterus. Parallelly, the concentration of progesterone and estradiol but not testosterone was lower (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01, respectively) in comparison to the female uterus. Our study, for the first time, reports the involvement of fast hormonal regulation in the uterus masculinus of Eurasian beavers reflecting the participation of this organ in the creation local hormonal environment. Moreover, the uterus masculinus seems to be a useful research model for understanding and resolving urgent biological problems such as gender identities and having children by women with a lack of uterus or anatomical barriers on this level.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is no consensus on tests required to either diagnose unexplained infertility or use for research inclusion criteria. This leads to heterogeneity and bias affecting meta-analysis and best practice advice. OBJECTIVES This systematic review analyses the variability of inclusion criteria applied to couples with unexplained infertility. We propose standardised criteria for use both in future research studies and clinical diagnosis. SEARCH STRATEGY CINAHL and MEDLINE online databases were searched up to November 2022 for all published studies recruiting couples with unexplained infertility, available in full text in the English language. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Data were collected in an Excel spreadsheet. Results were analysed per category and methodology or reference range. MAIN RESULTS Of 375 relevant studies, only 258 defined their inclusion criteria. The most commonly applied inclusion criteria were semen analysis, tubal patency and assessment of ovulation in 220 (85%), 232 (90%), 205 (79.5%) respectively. Only 87/220 (39.5%) studies reporting semen analysis used the World Health Organization (WHO) limits. Tubal patency was accepted if bilateral in 145/232 (62.5%) and if unilateral in 24/232 (10.3%). Ovulation was assessed using mid-luteal serum progesterone in 115/205 (56.1%) and by a history of regular cycles in 87/205 (42.4%). Other criteria, including uterine cavity assessment and hormone profile, were applied in less than 50% of included studies. CONCLUSIONS This review highlights the heterogeneity among studied populations with unexplained infertility. Development and application of internationally accepted criteria will improve the quality of research and future clinical care.

Abstract
Anomalies of the fallopian tubes represent one of the most significant elements that might contribute to reproductive issues. They can be inherited or acquired; they are among the most important problems of the profession. Although there is much discussion regarding which therapies for each tubal disease are the most effective and result in the best long-term reproductive outcomes. During the evaluation of an infertile couple, certain anomalies of the fallopian tubes are frequently discovered. These abnormalities were thought, for a long time, to not have an influence on fertility; however, in recent years, researchers have discovered that they seem to play a crucial role in fertility problems. Couples in industrialized countries are postponing childbearing, which raises the risk of women developing tubal diseases before they are ready to become pregnant. These disorders may have a negative impact on a woman's ability to get pregnant. The goals of this study are to conduct research to gain a deeper understanding of the recent advancements that have been made in the field of tubal diseases and to carry out an evaluation of the medical conducts that have the best fertility outcomes. We searched both Medline and PubMed, paying special attention to the most relevant articles that have been added to either database over the course of the last six years.

Abstract
Anatomical variations and congenital anomalies of the uterine tubes (UTAVsCAs) are rare conditions, which are often undiagnosed, or accidentally diagnosed upon imaging, laparotomy, laparoscopy for unrelated condition, or during the Cesarean section. UTAVsCAs are often asymptomatic, but their clinical relevance lies in their possibly adverse impact on fertility. Since their rare occurrence, they are usually published as case reports. The most typically described are: agenesis of the uterine tubes (UTs), accessory UT (UT duplication), accessory UT ostium, and paratubal cysts (e.g. the hydatid cyst of Morgagni). UTAVsCAs are classified into an umbrella category of Müllerian duct anomalies (MDAs) which comprises anomalous development of all the organs developing from the paramesonephric (Müllerian) ducts, i.e., UTs, uterus and upper portion of the vagina. Interestingly, most of the classification systems of MDAs discuss solely the uterine and vaginal anomalies, while the UTs are often utterly ignored. This probably originates from the fact that UTs are no longer interesting for many clinicians as they think of UTs as superfluous organs whose function can be easily replaced in the in vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratory. Indeed, the modern reproductive medicine has been helping enormously with the conception of infertile couples. In many instances, the UTs are in fact successfully bypassed and a “test-tube” baby is born. Nevertheless, the UTs are still absolutely unique in providing suitable environment for fertilization and early embryo development - processes that hasn´t been still completely understood. This fact could partially explain why the success rate of IVF is “only” around 30-50 % depending on age. Therefore, the research of the UTAVsCAs is still clinically relevant in the context of reproductive medicine and should not be omitted from research endeavors.

Abstract
Background The aim of this study was to evaluate the added value of transvaginal hydrolaparoscopy (THL) in the investigation of the infertile patient. Methods A retrospective cohort study, based on records from 01/09/2006 to 30/12/2019 was undertaken in a tertiary care infertility centre. THL was performed in 2288 patients. These were patients who were referred for endoscopic exploration of the female pelvis as part of their infertility investigation. In 374 patients with clomiphene- resistant polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian capsule drilling was also performed. The outcome objectives of this study included the evaluation of the added diagnostic value of THL as well as the feasibility and safety of the visual inspection of the female pelvis using this technique. Results Of the 2288 procedures failed access to the pouch of Douglas occurred in in 23 patients (1%). The complication rate was 0.74%, due to bowel perforations (n= 13) and bleeding (n= 4) requiring laparoscopy. All bowel perforations were treated conservatively, with 6 days of antibiotics, and no further complications occurred. Findings were normal in 49.8% of patients. Endometriosis was diagnosed in 366 patients (15.9%); adhesions were present in 144 patients. Conclusions THL is a minimally invasive procedure, with a low complication and failure rate, providing an accurate visual exploration of the female pelvis in a one-day hospital setting. When indicated, minimally invasive surgery is possible in the early stages of endometriosis and for ovarian capsule drilling in patients with clomiphene- resistant PCOS.

Abstract
ABSTRACT The differential diagnosis of scrotal pain in childhood is a challenge for every primary care physician. We report the case of a 5-year-old boy presenting to the emergency department owing to acute left scrotal pain. Ultrasound screening revealed a Morgagni hydatid in the left testis, which was surgically removed. X-rays revealed microcalcifications of the cyst wall and stroma, signs indicative of chronic inflammation. Results of histological examination confirmed radiographic evaluation. No similar use of x-rays has been described in literature before, to the best of our knowledge. A brief discussion also follows about Morgagni hydatid in childhood.

Abstract
The aim of the present review is to give a comprehensive overview of fallopian subtle lesions and suggest the impacts of these abnormalities on fertility. Tubal subtle variations, including tubal diverticula, Morgagni hydatids, accessory fallopian tube, accessory ostium of the fallopian tube, tubal phimosis, agglutination, and sacculation, have been described and cited as making significant contributions to infertility. This review summarizes characteristics of these subtle abnormalities and provides an update of recent knowledge of the diagnosis and management of these variations. We hope that the present contribution may help to bring more attention to the clinical field to recognize these abnormalities and consequently aid in improving fertility.

Abstract
AIM Hydatid disease during pregnancy may lead to various complications in both mother and child. Accordingly, enough knowledge is required to manage these complications. This study was done to evaluate the interaction between hydatid disease and pregnancy in laboratory mice. METHODS Twenty female BALB/c mice (Mus musculus) were divided into test and control groups, 10 animal in each. The mice of the test group were infected intraperitoneally by injection of 1000 protoescolices. Six months after infection, the mice of test and control groups were mated with male mice for a week. After parturition, the size and weight of babies were measured and compared between two groups. RESULTS While all the mice of control group delivered healthy babies, 3 out of 10 mice of test group showed no pregnancy. The infected mice delivered lower number of babies than the mice of control group. The mean size of fetuses or babies obtained from the infected mice were statistically lower than those obtained from the mice of control group (P = 0.000). The weight of babies delivered by the infected mice not only at the time of birth (P = 0.005) but also 10 days after birth (P = 0.021), were significantly lower than those delivered by the mice of control group. The level of progesterone and estradiol in the mice of test group were significantly lower (P = 0.009) and higher (P = 0.043), respectively, in comparison to the mice of control group. CONCLUSION Hydatid disease during pregnancy may considerably affect the pregnancy outcomes.
