Abstract
A novel ruthenium-containing polyoxometalate-based organic-inorganic hybrid, K4Na9H7.4[(AsW9O33)4(WO2)4{Ru3.2(C3H3N2)2}]·42H2O (1), was successfully synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method under acidic conditions, which applied a self-assembly strategy between inorganic polyoxometalate based on trivacant [B-α-AsW9O33]9- {AsW9} fragments and an organic ligand, imidazole (C3H4N2). Compound 1 was further characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, PXRD, IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, ESI-MS, elemental analysis and TGA. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data reveal that the polyanion consists of four trivacant Keggin-type polyanion {AsW9} building blocks bridged by four {WO6} units, leading to a crown-shaped tetrameric structure [(AsW9O33)4(WO2)4{Ru3.2(C3H3N2)2}]20.4-. The ESI-MS result reveals that the polyanion unit has excellent structural integrity in water. Moreover, the catalysis study of 1 was also further investigated, and the experimental results indicate heterogeneous catalyst 1 presents high efficiency (yield = 98%), excellent selectivity (>99%), and good recyclability for the oxidation of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)ethanol to 4'-chloroacetophenone with commercially available 70% aqueous tert-butyl hydroperoxide {TBHP (aq.)} as the oxidant at room temperature.

Abstract
Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are the third generation of photovoltaic cells developed by Grätzel and O'Regan. They have the characteristics of low cost, simple manufacturing process, tunable optical properties, and higher photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE). With an ever increasing energy crisis, there is an urgent need to develop highly efficient, environmentally benign, and energy-saving cell materials. Polyoxometalates (POMs), a kind of molecular inorganic quasi-semiconductor, are promising candidates for use in different parts of DSSCs due to their excellent photosensitivity, redox, and catalytic properties, as well as their relative stability. Following a brief introduction to the development of DSSCs and the potential virtues of POMs in DSSCs, we attempt to make some generalizations about the energy level regulation of POMs that is the underlying theoretical basis for their application in DSSCs, and then we summarize the research progress of POMs in DSSCs in recent years. This is organized in terms of the properties of POMs, namely, electron acceptor, photosensitivity, redox and catalysis, based on the accumulation of our research into POMs over many years. Meanwhile, in view of the fact that the properties of POMs depend primarily on their electronic structural diversity, we keep this point in mind throughout the article with a view to revealing their structure-property relationships. Finally we provide a short summary and remarks on the future outlook. This review may be of interest to synthetic chemists devoted to designing POMs with specific structures, and researchers engaged in the extension of POMs to photoelectric materials.

Abstract
Hybrid polyoxometalate-porphyrin copolymeric films were obtained by the electro-oxidation of zinc octaethylporphyrin (ZnOEP) in the presence of a Dawson type polyoxophosphovanadotungstate bearing two pyridyl groups (POM(py)2). The synthesis of a series of POM(py)2 consisting of [P2W15V3O62](9-) functionalized with diol-amide or triol moieties, as well as the characterization of the copolymers are presented.

Abstract
Thin films of the adduct formed from the electrostatic association of the metallopolymer, [Ru(bpy)(2)(PVP)(10)](2+), and the Dawson polyoxomolybdate α-[Mo(18)O(54)(SO(4))(2)](4-), POMo, have been formed on ITO electrodes using an alternate immersion approach. The Ru/POMo ratio is 4.5:1, which exceeds the 2:1 ratio expected on the basis of the charges of the Ru(2+) and POMo(4-) building blocks. This behavior arises because of the polymeric character of the cation. In the presence of a substrate that has an abstractable proton such as benzyl alcohol, these ruthenium-sensitized polyoxomolybdate films generate significant photocurrents under visible irradiation. Significantly, increasing the surface coverage of the adduct from 1.4 × 10(-10) to 8.1 × 10(-10) mol cm(-2) does not measurably increase the photocurrent observed. Scan-rate-dependent cyclic voltammetry reveals that the rate of homogeneous charge transport through the film is slow, which most likely results in only a fraction of the film thickness being active for photoelectrocatalysis. The photocurrent increases markedly when the driving force for the oxidation of POMo(5-), created by the photoelectrocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol, is increased. This result is consistent with the dynamics of heterogeneous electron transfer being centrally important to the regeneration of the photoelectrocatalyst. A system in which the surface coverage and applied overpotential are optimized produces a photocurrent density of 190 ± 18 nA cm(-2) under 480 ± 5 nm irradiation.
