Abstract
In this study, an in situ grown FeCo-Layered double hydroxide anchored to the surface of a bulk carbon aerogel (FeCo-LDH/CA) for contaminant degradation during the heterogeneous electro-Fenton (EF) process. The results exhibited that the FeCo-LDH/CA cathode achieved 100% of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP = 20 mg/L) degradation within 120 min at pH = 3, application current 20 mA, and Na2SO4 concentration 0.05 M. Moreover, the degradation efficiency was impressive in the range of pH = 2-9. The coexistence of the Fe (III)/Fe (II) and Co (III)/Co (II) as active sites on the cathode surface promoted the in-situ decomposition of H2O2 to form reactive oxygen species (ROS). •OH and O2- were confirmed to be the major degradation pollutants of ROS. Furthermore, density functional theory (DFT) was used to predict the reaction sites of 2,4-DCP, and its possible degradation pathways were proposed. The toxicity of intermediate products was evaluated and decreased after degradation. In addition, the eight cycle experiments and the degradation of other typical contaminants demonstrated the satisfactory stability and applicability of the synthetic cathode. This study presents the preparation of an efficient and stable EF cathode, further promoting the application of iron-based composites in wastewater treatment.

Abstract
A novel carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/agarose (AG)/ITO electrode with high electro-catalytic activity was prepared using a simple sol-gel method. Characterization results showed that the prepared CNTs/AG membrane, coated on the ITO conductive glass, was consisted of C and O. The electro-catalytic degradation for 2-chlorophenol (2-CP) and the influence factors were investigated. The results meant that electro-catalytic degradation for 2-CP was highly dependent on pH, bias voltage, and catalyst dosage. At pH 2, 4 V bias voltage, and 5 wt% CNTs dosage, the electro-catalytic efficiency of CNTs/AG/ITO electrode for 2-CP (20 mg/L) achieved 98% within 180 min. Afterwards, the electro-catalytic properties of recycling electrode, roles of the generated reactive oxygen species, and the reaction pathways were also investigated and proposed. In addition, the toxicities of the generated intermediates from the electro-catalytic degradation were calculated by easy methods. The results indicated that the toxicities of some intermediates were higher than the parent pollutant, especially the formation of 2-CP dimer which was seldom reported in the advanced oxidation process. The findings of using AG as the carrier and conductive adhesive for catalytic material and the assessment methods for the possible increasing risks from the intermediates were reported firstly in this paper.

Abstract
We report on the electrodeposition of gold nanoparticles ( AuNPs ) on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) followed by deposition of nickel tetrasulfonated phthalocyanine ( NiTSPc ) film by electropolymerization (poly- NiTSPc -GCE) to form Poly- NiTSPc / AuNPs -GCE. The presence of the gold nanoparticles caused a lowering of the anodic and cathodic peak separation (ΔE p ) of ferricyanide from 126 mV on poly- NiTSPc to 110 mV on poly- NiTSPc / AuNPs . The electrooxidation of nitrite improved on modified electrodes compared to GCE, with the latter giving E p = 0.78 V and the modified electrodes gave E p = 0.62 V or 0.61 V. Poly- NiTSPc / AuNPs -GCE had higher currents compared to poly- NiTSPc -GCE. This indicates the enhancement effect caused by the AuNPs . Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and chronoamperometric studies also showed that poly- NiTSPc / AuNPs -GCE was a better electrocatalyst than poly- NiTSPc -GCE or AuNPs -GCE.
