Abstract
A novel pyrene-substituted oxacalixarene was designed and synthesized as a selective probe for the simultaneous detection of MNA and 4-NP. Utilizing 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and FT-IR analysis techniques, its structure was characterized. The binding property of BPOC to a variety of NACs, including 1,3-DNB, 2,3-DNT, 2,4-DNT, 2,6-DNT, 4-NP, 4-NT, and PA, revealed that the sensor binds to MNA and 4-NP with remarkable selectivity. Binding constant reveals lower detection limits of MNA is 0.2 µM and 0.3 µM for 4-NP. Using docking and density functional theory (DFT), computational insights were provided for investigating the stability and spectroscopic analysis of the inclusion complex. From molecular docking study, we observed the best docking score of BPOC with 4-NT and MNA complex. The calculations supplement the findings significantly and clarify the structural geometry and mode of interactions in supramolecular complexation. In an MTT experiment on human PBMC to check for cytotoxicity, this chemical was found to influence 1 × 105 cell viability dose-dependently.

Abstract
Environmental pollution resulting from the use of pesticides such as fenuron poses significant health risks due to the carcinogenic and teratogenic properties of these compounds. There is an urgent need to develop rapid and cost-effective detection methods for quantifying fenuron. In this study, an inorganic-organic composite material was obtained by intercalating sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate (DSS) within the interlayer space of a nickel-aluminum-layered double hydroxide (NiAl-LDH). The pristine and modified LDHs (NiAl-LDH) were characterized using Fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis, confirming the successful intercalation of DSS in the mineral structure. The modified LDH was used to elaborate a sensor for detecting fenuron herbicide via differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) employing a carbon paste electrode (CPE). The electrochemical procedure for fenuron analysis consisted of immersing the working electrode in an electrolytic solution containing the appropriate amount of fenuron, followed by voltammetry detection without any preconcentration step. Compared to CPE modified by pristine LDH, the peak current obtained on the organo-LDH-modified CPE was twice as high. The increase in the fenuron signal was attributed to the high organophilic feature of this composite material induced by DSS modification. To optimize the sensitivity of the organo-LDH modified electrode, the effects of several experimental parameters such as pH of the medium and proportion of the modifier in the paste on the stripping response were examined. Linear calibration curves were obtained for the fenuron concentrations ranging from 0.5 × 10-6 to 1 × 10-6 mol.L-1 and 1 × 10-6 to 5 × 10-6 mol.L-1. The limit of detection (LOD) calculated on the basis of a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 was found to be 1.8 × 10-8 mol.L-1 for the low concentration range with a limit of quantification (LOQ) which was 6 × 10-8 mol.L-1. Furthermore, the interference effect of several inorganic ions and other pesticides potentially affecting fenuron stripping was explored, and the method's applicability was confirmed by determining fenuron levels in a river sample taken from down-town Yaoundé.

Abstract
The development of miniaturized, sustainable and eco-friendly analytical sensors with low production cost is a current trend worldwide. Within this idea, this work presents the innovative use of masked stereolithography (MSLA) 3D-printed substrates for the easy fabrication of pencil-drawn electrochemical sensors (MSLA-3D-PDE). The use of a non-toxic material such as pencil (electrodes) together with a biodegradable 3D printing resin (substrate) allowed the production of devices that are quite cheap (ca. US$ 0.11 per sensor) and with low environmental impact. Compared to paper, which is the most used substrate for manufacturing pencil-drawn electrodes, the MSLA-3D-printed substrate has the advantages of not absorbing water (hydrophobicity) or becoming crinkled and weakened when in contact with solutions. These features provide more reproducible, reliable, stable, and long-lasting sensors. The MSLA-3D-PDE, in conjunction with the custom cell developed, showed excellent robustness and electrochemical performance similar to that observed of the glassy carbon electrode, without the need of any activation procedure. The analytical applicability of this platform was explored through the quantification of omeprazole in pharmaceuticals. A limit of detection (LOD) of 0.72 µmol L-1 was achieved, with a linear range of 10 to 200 µmol L-1. Analysis of real samples provided results that were highly concordant with those obtained by UV-Vis spectrophotometry (relative error ≤ 1.50%). In addition, the greenness of this approach was evaluated and confirmed by a quantitative methodology (Eco-Scale index). Thus, the MSLA-3D-PDE appears as a new and sustainable tool with great potential of use in analytical electrochemistry.

Abstract
In agro-areas, linuron (LNR) and amino-triazole (ATZ) are the widely used herbicides to protect crops, but their widespread use pollutes the environment, especially when these are mixed with water or soil. In efforts to address these environmental issues and to detect trace quantities of the herbicides, a graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) modified carbon paste electrode (g-C3N4-CTAB/CPE) was developed and used for the detection of LNR and ATZ. Materials were characterized by XRD, TEM and AFM techniques. The effect of pH on electro-oxidation (under optimized conditions) showed the maximum peak current at pH of 4.2 for AMT and pH 6.0 for LNR. The electro-kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of LNR and ATZ were determined. Additional experiments were performed for the trace level detection of ATZ and LNR using the square wave voltammetric technique. Concentrations were varied linearly in the range of 3.0 × 10-7 M to 4.5 × 10-5 M for ATZ with a detection limit of 6.41 × 10-8 M, and 1.2 × 10-7 M to 3.0 × 10-4 M for LNR with a detection limit of 2.47 × 10-8 M. The developed novel sensor was effective for trace level detection of LNR and ATZ in water and soil samples.

Abstract
The electrochemical performance of linuron (LNR) was studied by fabricating the carbon paste electrode (CPE) using multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) along with zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (MWCNTs/ZnO/CPE). The influence of electro-kinetic specifications involving steady heterogeneous rate, pH, sweep rate, temperature effect, transfer coefficient, accumulation time, activation energy, as well as the total number of protons and electrons participating in electro-oxidation of LNR has been established using voltammetric techniques like cyclic voltammetry (CV) and square wave voltammetry (SWV). These techniques were applied to investigate LNR in real samples such as soil including water samples. Over the 0.02 μM-0.34 μM ranges, a linear relationship was confirmed along with the limit of detection and quantification (LOD and LOQ) of the LNR. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The MWCNTs/ZnO/CPE sensor was considered sensitive for LNR detection because the sensor exhibited enhanced catalytic qualities with peak current in the involvement of 0.2 M phosphate buffer solution (PBS) of pH 6.0, attributed to the ultimate sensing performance of the sensor.

Abstract
Here, a novel electrically conductive thermoplastic material composed of graphite/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (G/ABS) is reported for the first time. This material was explored on the production of 3D printing-based electrochemical sensors with enhanced sensitivity using a novel fabrication approach. The developed G/ABS electrodes showed lower charge transfer resistance (157 vs. 3279 Ω), higher electroactive area (0.61 vs. 0.19 cm2) and peak currents ca. 69% higher when compared with electrodes fabricated using carbon black/polylactic acid (CB/PLA) commercial filament, which has been widely explored in recent literature. Moreover, the G/ABS sensor provided satisfactory repeatability, reproducibility and stability (relative standard deviations (RSDs) were 1.14%, 6.81% and 10.62%, respectively). This improved performance can be attributed to the fabrication protocol developed here, which allows the incorporation of greater amounts of conductive material in the polymeric matrix. The G/ABS electrode also required a simpler and quicker protocol for activation when compared to CB/PLA. As proof of concept, the G/ABS sensor was employed for electroanalytical quantification of paracetamol (PAR) in pharmaceutical products. The linear concentration range was observed from 0.20 to 30 μmol L-1 and the limit of detection achieved was 54 nmol L-1, much lower than several recent studies dealing with the same analyte. The sensitivity of the G/ABS electrode regarding PAR was also far better when compared to CB/PLA sensor (0.50 μA/μmol L-1 vs. 0.12 μA/μmol L-1). Analyses in commercial pill samples showed good accuracy (recoveries ca. 108%) and precision (RSDs < 5%), suggesting great potential for use of this novel conductive thermoplastic in electroanalytical applications based on 3D printing.

Abstract
We describe the ultrasonic assisted preparation of barium stannate-graphitic carbon nitride nanocomposite (BSO-gCN) by a simple method and its application in electrochemical detection of 4-nitrophenol via electro-oxidation. A bath type ultrasonic cleaner with ultrasonic power and ultrasonic frequency of 100 W and 50 Hz, respectively, was used for the synthesis of BSO-gCN nanocomposite material. The prepared BSO-gCN nanocomposite was characterized by employing several spectroscopic and microscopic techniques such as X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, fourier transform infra-red, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and high resolution transmission electron microscopy, to unravel the structural and electronic features of the prepared nanocomposite. The BSO-gCN was drop-casted on a pre-treated glassy carbon electrode (GCE), and their sensor electrode was utilized for electrochemical sensing of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The BSO-gCN modified GCE exhibited better electrochemical sensing behavior than the bare GCE and other investigated electrodes. The electroanalytical parameters such as charge transfer coefficient (α = 0.5), the rate constant for electron transfer (ks = 1.16 s-1) and number of electron transferred were calculated. Linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) exhibited increase in peak current linearly with 4-NP concentration in the range between 1.6 and 50 μM. The lowest detection limit (LoD) was calculated to be 1 μM and sensitivity of 0.81 μA μM-1 cm-2. A 100-fold excess of various ions, such as Ca2+, Na+, K+, Cl-, I-, CO32-, NO3, NH4+ and SO42- did not able to interfere with the determination of 4-NP and high sensitivity for detecting 4-NP in real samples was achieved. This newly developed BSO-gCN could be a potential candidate for electrochemical sensor applications.

Abstract
This paper describes the development of a novel, simple, and inexpensive electrochemical device containing an integrated and disposable three-electrode system for detection. The base of this platform consists on a PDMS structure containing microchannels which were prototyped using 3D-printed molds. Pencil graphite leads were inserted into these microchannels and utilized as working, counter and reference electrodes in a novel design. Morphological analysis and electrochemical experiments with benchmark redox probes were carried out in order to evaluate the performance and characterize the miniaturized device proposed. Even using inexpensive materials and a simple fabrication protocol, the electrochemical platform developed provided good repeatability and reproducibility over a low cost (ca. $2 per device), acceptable lifetime (ca. 250 voltammetric runs) and extremely reduced consumption of samples and reagents (order of µL). As proof of concept, the analytical feasibility of the platform was investigated through the simultaneous determination of dopamine (DOPA) and acetaminophen (AC). The two analytes showed linear dependence on the concentration range from 1 to 15 µM and the LODs achieved were 0.21 µM for DOPA and 0.29 µM for AC. Moreover, the platform was successfully applied on the determination of DOPA and AC in spiked blood serum and urine samples. The results obtained with the device described here were better than some reports in literature that use more costly electrodic materials and complex modification steps for the detection of the same analytes.

Abstract
A new and simple approach for carbaryl determination in natural sample was proposed using Low Silica X (LSX) zeolite modified carbon paste electrode. LSX zeolite with a porous structure was incorporated into carbon paste electrode in the appropriate portion. The prepared electrode was then characterized using scanning electron microscopy, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Various experimental parameters as the zeolite amounts, pH, accumulation time, and differential pulse voltammetric parameters were optimized. Under optimal conditions, a linear response was obtained in the range of 1-100 µM of carbaryl using differential pulse voltammetry with detection limit of 0.3 µM (S/N = 3). The sensors showed good selectivity, stability, and reproducibility and has been successfully applied for detection of carbaryl in tomato samples with good recoveries.

Abstract
This study describes a novel electrochemical method to determine the herbicide trifluralin in samples of water, fruit juice, and vegetable extracts in the presence of surfactants, using a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). In acidic media, trifluralin was irreversible on the glassy carbon electrode surface at -0.5 V vs. Ag/AgCl. Surfactant presence on the electrode-solution interface modified current intensities and shifted the reduction peak potential of trifluralin. Different types of surfactant and their concentrations were investigated. The anionic surfactant significantly enhanced the peak current intensity of trifluralin. Under optimal analytical conditions, an analytical curve was obtained in the concentration range of 0.48-32.20 µM. The limits of detection and quantification were estimated at 0.031 and 0.104 µM, respectively. The method was successfully applied to quantify trifluralin in samples of water, orange and tomato juice, and green pepper, carrot, and onion extracts, with recovery rates of 97.9-102.1%. The results were in good agreement with those obtained using high-performance liquid chromatography, indicating that the proposed electrochemical method can be employed to quantify trifluralin in various types foods, with sensitivity, specificity, selectivity and reproducibility.
