Abstract
The improvement of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) performance relies on the electron transfer efficiency between luminophore and coreactant. An ultrasensitive ECL micro-reactor with confinement-enhanced performance was prepared by using the covalent organic framework-LZU1-functionalized metal-organic framework (MOF@COF-LZU1) as a platform to assemble enormous N,N-dibutyl-2-hydroxyethylamine (DBAE) and tris(4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridyl) ruthenium(II) [Ru(dcbpy)32+] into its pore channels. Compared to individual substances of γ-CD-MOF and COF-LZU1, the synergistic effects can conduce to the enhancement of the intensity, durability and sensitivity of the micro-reactor. Besides, COF-LZU1 can provide a mild environment to accommodate a certain amount of DBAE by concentrating them from the aqueous solution into its hydrophobic cavities and boost the oxidation efficiency of DBAE to generate more DBAE●+ and profited the survival of DBAE●, leading to an improved reaction efficiency with the Ru(dcbpy)32+ intermediate. Thanks to the confinement-enhanced strategy, engineered as high-functioning luminescent materials, Ru@γ-CD-MOF@COF-LZU1 micro-reactors decorated with Au NPs can facilitate electron transfer and capture primary antibodies (Ab1). Moreover, Au-Pd-Pt noble metal aerogels (NMAs) functionalized MoS2 NFs (Au-Pd-Pt NMAs@MoS2 NFs) were chosen as base material due to its large specific surface areas, high porosity, and excellent electrical conductivity. Based on above merits, the sensor demonstrated a sensitive response to CYFRA 21-1 detection in a linear concentration gradient from 10 fg/mL to 50 ng/mL with a detection limit of 0.0055 pg/mL (S/N = 3). The COF-LZU1 decorated ECL micro-reactors were constructed based on the signal amplification strategies to realize accurate CYFRA 21-1 detection.

Abstract
One-dimensional molecular crystal waveguide (MCW) can transmit self-generated electrochemiluminescence (ECL), but heavy optical loss occurs because of the small difference in the refractive index between the crystal and its surroundings. Herein, we report a micropipette electrode-supported MCW (MPE/MCW) for precisely controlling the far-field transmission of ECL in air with a low optical loss. ECL is generated from one terminal of the MCW positioned inside the MPE, which is transmitted along the MCW to the other terminal in air. In comparison with conventional waveguides on solid substrates or in solutions, the MPE/MCW is propitious to the total internal reflection of light at the MCW/air interface, thus confining the ECL efficiently in MCW and improving the waveguide performance with an extremely low-loss coefficient of 4.49 × 10-3 dB μm-1. Moreover, by regulation of the gas atmosphere, active and passive waveguides can be resolved simultaneously inside MPE and in air. This MPE/MCW offers a unique advantage of spatially controlling and separating ECL signal readout from its generation, thus holding great promise in biosensing without or with less electrical/chemical disturbance.

Abstract
Total organic carbon (TOC) is a valuable indicator to evaluate the degree of organic pollution in wastewater. Real-time analysis of TOC in wastewater can allow the wastewater treatment plants to manage the treatment process efficiently, avoid violations of the discharge regulations, and eliminate overtreatment. However, traditional methods for TOC determination are time-consuming. Benefitting from the rapid generation of SO4•- in the iron(II)-activated peroxymonosulfate (Fe(II)/PMS) system and the high reactivity of SO4•- towards naproxen as a chemiluminescence (CL) probe, a surrogate for TOC based on the determination of CL quenching capacity (CLQC) of organics in the Fe(II)/PMS-naproxen system was developed. According to the derived equation by considering both non-fluorescent and fluorescent quenching, the CLQC of organics in the Fe(II)/PMS-naproxen system was highly dependent on their TOC, making it to be a potential surrogate for TOC. The interferences of ubiquitous inorganic ions in wastewater on the determination of CLQC were leveled by adjusting electrical conductivity and adding mercury ions. Finally, the feasibility of CLQC as a surrogate for TOC in two real wastewaters containing different concentrations of inorganic anions was confirmed. This work can provide a TOC value within several seconds by determining the CLQC of wastewater with Fe(II)/PMS-naproxen system.

Abstract
Phenolic compounds such as vanillic and p-coumaric acids are pollutants of major concern in the agro-industrial processing, thereby their effective detection in the industrial environment is essential to reduce exposure. Herein, we present the quenching effect of these compounds on the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of the Ru(bpy)32+ /TPrA (TPrA=tri-n-propylamine) system at a disposable screen-printed carbon electrode. Transient ECL profiles are obtained from multiple video frames following 1.2 V application by a smartphone-based ECL sensor. A wide range of detection was achieved using the sensor with limit of detection of 0.26 μM and 0.68 μM for vanillic and p-coumaric acids, respectively. The estimated quenching constants determined that the quenching efficiency of vanillic acid is at least two-fold that of p-coumaric acid under the current detection conditions. The present ECL quenching approach provided an effective method to detect phenolic compounds using a low-cost, portable smartphone-based ECL sensor.

Abstract
Light-emitting transistors (LETs) have attracted a significant amount of interest as multifunctional building blocks for next-generation electronics and optoelectronic devices. However, it is challenging to obtain LETs with a high carrier mobility and uniform light-emission because the semiconductor channel should provide both the electrical charge transport and optical light-emission, and typical emissive semiconductors have low, imbalanced carrier mobilities. In this work, a novel device platform that adapts the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) principle in LETs, referred to as an ECL transistor (ECLT) is proposed. ECL is a light-emission phenomenon from electrochemically excited luminophores generated by redox reactions. A solid-state ECL electrolyte consisting of a network-forming polymer, ionic liquid, luminophore, and co-reactant is employed as the light-emitting gate insulator of the ECLT. Based on this construction, high-performance LETs that make use of various conventional non-emissive semiconductors (e.g., poly(3-hexylthiophene), zinc oxide, and reduced graphene oxide) are successfully demonstrated. All the devices exhibit a high mobility (0.9-10 cm2 V-1 s-1 ) and a uniform light-emission. This innovative approach demonstrates a novel LET platform and provides a promising pathway to achieve significant breakthroughs to develop electronic circuits and optoelectronic applications.

Abstract
A high performance miRNA biosensor based on effective click chemistry assembly of a Ru(bpy)32+ labeled DNA probe and efficient electrochemiluminescence (ECL) quenching of the Ru(bpy)32+/BDEA (BDEA = N-butyldiethanolamine) system by surface-confined electroactive methylene blue (MB) dye is reported. When the target miRNA was present, the ECL signal instantly changed from "light off" to "light on" status. Using the specific miRNA let-7d as the target analyte, this biosensor provided sensitive detection over approximately six orders of magnitude (10 fM-10 nM), with a limit of detection of 10 fM (S/N = 3). Detailed study of the ECL quenching behavior of the Ru(bpy)32+/BDEA system by MB in solution suggested that the ECL quenching involves a combination of photoluminescence dynamic quenching and quenching processes directly associated with the redox reactions, as well as resonance energy transfer. A large binding constant of 4.7 × 1011 M-1 between let-7d and the DNA hairpin was estimated using an ECL-based extended Langmuir isotherm model, suggesting remarkably strong binding of the target to the probe. Furthermore, our biosensor exhibited excellent specificity and reproducibility. Using the developed system, the concentration of the target miRNA extracted from the A549 cell line could be obtained, demonstrating the potential application of the developed biosensor to practical biological sample analysis.

Abstract
In this paper, a novel and ultrasensitive electrochemiluminescent sensor employing a solvothermal-synthesized CdS nanorod-modified pencil graphite electrode (CdS/PGE) for the determination of chlorogenic acid (CA) is fabricated. In the first step, the PGE surface is modified using CdS nanorods. In the next step, the developed electrode is used to detect CA using a electrochemiluminescent (ECL) technique, in which potassium persulfate (K2 S2 O8 ) served as a co-reactant. The possible ECL mechanism is investigated, and the influences of pH and cyclic voltammetric scanning rate on the signal response are studied. The ECL intensity decreases quantitatively in relation to the concentration of the target molecule. Under optimized conditions, the linear correlation between the quenched ECL intensity and the logarithm of CA concentration is observed in the range from 2 × 10-9 to 8 × 10-7 mol L-1 with a limit of detection of 1 × 10-9 mol L-1 . This proposed method is applied to the analysis of CA in honeysuckle flower, giving recoveries of 99-107%. The experimental results demonstrate that this ECL sensor shows good stability and reproducibility.
