Abstract
Sensing motors and supercapacitors are pivotal in empowering smart systems, honing energy management, and facilitating the seamless integration of responsive electronics. Harnessing the electrochemistry of methylcellulose-polyaniline (MC/PANI) composites, this research delves into their potential applications as reactive current sensing supercapacitors with single connectivity. The electrochemical traits of pristine polyaniline (PANI) and MC/PANI composites were analyzed and assessed for their potential applications in sensors and energy storage devices. With a specific capacitance of 300Fg-1, the MC/PANI_B3 composite-based device retained 87.01 % capacitance after 2000 cycles. Besides, based on electrical energy as the sensing parameter, the composite exhibited augmented cathodic and anodic current sensitivity of 8.77 mJmA-1 and -8.86 mJmA-1, respectively. The ameliorated supercapacitor and current sensing parameters of MC/PANI_B3 are ascribed to the percolation threshold content of the conducting phase, which is endowed with optimal hydrogen bond-mediated interactions with methylcellulose (MC), thus confers an expanded chain conformation.

Abstract
Different areas of modern chemistry, require wireless systems able to transfer chirality from the molecular to the macroscopic event. The ability to recognize the enantiomers of a chiral analyte is highly desired, since in the majority of cases such molecules present different physico-chemical properties that could lead, eventually, to dangerous or harmful interactions with the environment or the human body. From an electrochemical point of view, enantiomers have the same electrochemical behavior except when they interact in a chiral environment. In this Feature Article, different approaches for the electrochemical recognition of chiral information based on the actuation of conducting polymers are described. Such a dynamic behavior of π-conjugated materials is based on an electrochemically induced shrinking/swelling transition of the polymeric matrix. Since all the systems, described so far in the literature, are achiral and require a direct connection to a power supply, new strategies will be presented in the manuscript, concerning the implementation of chirality in electrochemical actuators and their use in a wireless manner through bipolar electrochemistry. Herein, the synergy between the wireless unconventional actuation and the outstanding enantiorecognition of inherent chiral oligomers is presented as an easy and straightforward read out of chiral information in solution. This approach presents different advantages in comparison to classic electrochemical systems such as its wireless nature and the possible real-time data acquisition.

Abstract
Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) have been proven as excellent Earth-abundant electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in acidic, neutral and alkaline media. Further improvements can be achieved by increasing their electrical conductivity, but scarce attention has been paid to quantify the electroactive sites of the electrocatalyst when this enhancement occurs. In this work, we have studied how the chemical design influences the specific density of electroactive sites in different Au-PBA nanostructures. Thus, we have first obtained and fully characterized a variety of monodisperse core@shell hybrid nanoparticles of Au@PBA (PBA of NiIIFeII and CoIIFeII) with different shell sizes. Their catalytic activity is evaluated by studying the OER, which is compared to pristine PBAs and other Au-PBA heterostructures. By using the coulovoltammetric technique, we have demonstrated that the introduction of 5-10% of Au in weight in the core@shell leads to an increase in the electroactive mass and thus, to a higher density of active sites capable of taking part in the OER. This increase leads to a significant decrease in the onset potential (up to 100 mV) and an increase (up to 420%) in the current density recorded at an overpotential of 350 mV. However, the Tafel slope remains unchanged, suggesting that Au reduces the limiting potential of the catalyst with no variation in the reaction kinetics. These improvements are not observed in other Au-PBA nanostructures mainly due to a lower contact between both compounds and the Au oxidation. Hence, an Au core activates the PBA shell and increases the conductivity of the resulting hybrid, while the PBA shell prevents Au oxidation. The strong synergistic effect existing in the core@shell structure evidences the importance of the chemical design for preparing PBA-based nanostructures exhibiting better electrocatalytic performances and higher electrochemical stabilities.

Abstract
The electrochemical reaction in liquid electrolytes of conducting polymers, carbon nanotubes, graphenes, among other materials, replicates the active components (macromolecular electro-chemical motors, ions and solvent) and volume variation of the sarcomere in any natural muscles during actuation, allowing the development of electro-chemo-mechanical artificial muscles. Materials, reactions and artificial muscles have been used as model materials, model reactions and model devices of the muscles from ectotherm animals. We present in this perspective the experimental results and a quantitative description of the thermal influence on the reaction extension and energetic achievements of those muscular models using different experimental methodologies. By raising the temperature for 40 °C keeping the extension of the muscular movement the cooperative actuation of the macromolecular motors harvest, saving chemical energy, up to 60% of the reaction energy from the thermal environment. The synergic thermal influence on either, the reaction rate (Arrhenius), the conformational movement rates of the motors (ESCR model) and the diffusion coefficients of ions across polymer matrix (WLF equation) can support the physical chemical foundations for the selection by nature of ectotherm muscles. Macromolecular motors act, simultaneously, as electro-chemo-mechanical and thermo-mechanical transducers. Technological and biological perspectives are presented.

Abstract
Following the natural muscle antagonist actuation principle, different adaptations for "artificial muscles" are introduced in this work. Polypyrrole (PPy) films of different polymerization techniques (potentiostatic and galvanostatic) were analyzed and their established responses were combined in several ways, resulting in beneficial actuation modes. A consecutive "one-pot" electrosynthesis of two layers with the different deposition regimes resulted in an all-PPy bending hybrid actuator. While in most cases the mixed-ion activity of conductive polymers has been considered a problem or a drawback, here for the first time, the nearly equal expansions upon oxidation and reduction of carefully selected conditions further allowed to fabricate a "mirrored" trilayer laminate, which behaved as a linear actuator.

Abstract
The electro-chemo-mechanical response of robust and flexible free-standing films made of three nanoperforated poly(lactic acid) (pPLA) layers separated by two anodically polymerized poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) layers has been demonstrated. The mechanical and electrochemical properties of these films, which are provided by pPLA and PEDOT, respectively, have been studied by nanoindentation, cyclic voltammetry, and galvanostatic charge-discharge assays. The unprecedented combination of properties obtained for this system is appropriated for its utilization as a Faradaic motor, also named artificial muscle. Application of square potential waves has shown important bending movements in the films, which can be repeated for more than 500 cycles without damaging its mechanical integrity. Furthermore, the actuator is able to push a huge amount of mass, as it has been proved by increasing the mass of the passive pPLA up to 328% while keeping the mass of electroactive PEDOT unaltered.

Abstract
Thick films of polypyrrole/polyvinylsulfate (PPy/PVS) blends were electrogenerated on stainless-steel electrodes under potentiostatic conditions from aqueous solution. The best electropolymerization potential window was determined by cyclic voltammetry. After removing the film from the back metal, self-supported electrodes were obtained. Voltammetric, coulovoltammetric, and chronoamperometric responses from a LiClO4 aqueous solution indicated the formation of an energetically stable structure beyond a reduction threshold of the material. Its subsequent oxidation required higher anodic voltammetric overpotentials or longer chronoamperometric oxidation times. This structure was attributed to the formation of lamellar or vacuolar structures. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis of the films under different oxidations states revealed that the electrochemical reactions drive the reversible exchange of cations between the film and the electrolyte. The electrical energy and the charge consumed by the reversible reaction of the film under voltammetric conditions between the constant potential limits are a function of the potential scan rate, that is, they sense the working electrochemical conditions.
