Abstract
Due to the growing presence of pesticides in the environment and in food, the concern of their impact on human health is increasing. Therefore, the development of fast and reliable detection methods is needed. Enzymatic inhibition-based biosensors represent a good alternative for replacing the more complicated and time-consuming traditional methods (chromatography, spectrophotometry, etc.). This paper describes the development of an electrochemical biosensor exploiting alkaline phosphatase as the biological recognition element and a chemically modified glassy carbon electrode as the transducer. The biosensor was prepared modifying the GCE surface by a mixture of Multi-Walled-Carbon-Nanotubes (MWCNTs) and Electrochemically-Reduced-Graphene-Oxide (ERGO) followed by the immobilization of the enzyme by cross-linking with bovine serum albumin and glutaraldehyde. The inhibition of the biosensor response caused by pesticides was established using 2-phospho-L-ascorbic acid as the enzymatic substrate, whose dephosphorylation reaction produces ascorbic acid (AA). The MWCNTs/ERGO mixture shows a synergic effect in terms of increased sensitivity and decreased overpotential for AA oxidation. The response of the biosensor to the herbicide 2,4-dichloro-phenoxy-acetic-acid was evaluated and resulted in the concentration range 0.04-24 nM, with a limit of the detection of 16 pM. The determination of other pesticides was also achieved. The re-usability of the electrode was demonstrated by performing a washing procedure.

Abstract
An electrochemical sensor based on a cobalt oxide nanorod (Co3O4NR) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) (Co3O4NR-GCE) was prepared for simultaneous and selective determination of hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CT). Surface morphology and crystallinity of Co3O4NR were investigated employing field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The structure (16 nm) of the Co3O4 nanorod was observed in the FESEM image. A sharp peak pattern in the XRD survey revealed the following crystal planes in Co3O4NR material: (111), (220), (311), (222), (400), (422), (511), and (440). Electrochemical characterization of modified Co3O4NR-GCE was carried out performing cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Selective and simultaneous detection of HQ and CT was carried out by performing CV and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) analysis. In both studies, modified Co3O4NR-GCE showed well defined oxidation and reduction peaks for HQ and CT with enhanced peak current, and the oxidation peaks for HQ and CT were observed at 0.152 V and 0.254 V, respectively, in the CV analysis. Scan rate and pH variation analysis were performed to evaluate different kinetic parameters, including charge transfer coefficient (α = 0.56 for HQ and 0.66 for CT), heterogeneous charge transfer rate constant (ks = 56 for HQ and 72 for CT), and the number of electrons involved in HQ and CT oxidation. Quantitative analysis of HQ and CT was studied by observing the current response of DPV analysis with respect to concentration variation. Here, the detection limit was calculated as 0.2 µM for HQ with a linear concentration range of 5–200 µM, and 0.4 µM for CT with a linear concentration range of 5–150 µM. The practical applicability of the proposed sensor was investigated using sample solutions prepared in tap water. The reported sensor showed impressive selectivity towards HQ and CT in the presence of common interferents.

Abstract
This work describes the synthesis of a nanocomposite consisting of Ag2O, silver nanoparticles and N,S-doped carbon quantum dots (Ag2O/Ag@NS-CQD). The NS-CQD were prepared by hydrothermal treatment of p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid. They act as both the reducing and stabilizing agent for synthesis of Ag2O/Ag@NS-CQD. The composite was characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified by coating it with Ag2O/Ag@NS-CQD. It exhibits excellent amperometric response to catechol, typically at a low working potential of around 0.25 V. Under the best experimental conditions, the sensor has a wide linear response (0.2 to 180 μM) and a low detection limit (13 nM; at S/N = 3). The method was applied to analysis of spiked water samples and gave satisfactory results. Graphical abstract Schematic representation of the preparation of the Ag/Ag2O@N,S-doped carbon quantum dots composite using p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid and silver nitrate as the starting materials. The corresponding modified glassy carbon electrode exhibits the excellent amperometric sensing performance toward catechol at pH 7.0 with low detection limit and good selectivity.

Abstract
The ultimate aim of this study is to produce a composite of bimetallic platinum-cobalt nanoparticles and reduced graphene oxide (Pt-Co@rGO) based biosensor for the detection of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). Those are biologically important molecules with the key functions for the human body. Pt-Co@rGO was synthesized using a microwave-assisted technique and utilized for the production of a highly sensitive and stable electrochemical biosensor. Detailed spectral XPS and Raman analysis, XRD, and TEM/HR-TEM characterization were also studied. Due to the superior activity and excellent conductivity of rGO, well-separated oxidation peaks of these biomolecules is proven by DPV (differential pulse voltammetry) and CV (cyclic voltammetry) measurements. The prepared Pt-Co@rGO-based biosensor showed high electrochemical activity, a broad linear response, high sensitivity, and acceptable limit of detection values for individual and simultaneous determination of AA, DA, and UA, under optimized conditions. The linear range of Pt-Co@rGO was found to be 170-200; 35-1500 and 5-800 µM for AA, DA, and UA, respectively. Moreover, the detection limit of the prepared composite was calculated as 0.345; 0.051; 0.172 µM for AA, DA, and UA, respectively. In the field of electrochemical biosensors, Pt-Co@rGO based sensor is highly promising due to its superior sensitivity and good selectivity properties.

Abstract
Background:
Catecholamine drugs are a family of electroactive pharmaceutics, which are
widely analyzed through electrochemical methods. However, for low level online determination and
monitoring of these compounds, which is very important for clinical and biological studies, modified
electrodes having high signal to noise ratios are needed. Numerous materials including nanomaterials
have been widely used as electrode modifies for these families during the years. Among them, graphene
and its family, due to their remarkable properties in electrochemistry, were extensively used in
modification of electrochemical sensors.
Objective:
In this review, working electrodes which have been modified with graphene and its derivatives
and applied for electroanalyses of some important catecholamine drugs are considered.

Abstract
Graphene oxide (GO) decorated with silver (Ag), copper (Cu) or platinum (Pt) nanoparticles that are anchored on dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA)-doped polyaniline (PANI) were prepared by a simple one-step method and applied as novel materials for high performance supercapacitors. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and high-resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM) analyses revealed that a metal-decorated polymer matrix is embedded within the GO sheet. This caused the M/DBSA⁻PANI (M = Ag, Cu or Pt) particles to adsorb on the surface of the GO sheets, appearing as aggregated dark regions in the HRSEM images. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy studies revealed that GO was successfully produced and decorated with Ag, Cu or Pt nanoparticles anchored on DBSA⁻PANI. This was confirmed by the appearance of the GO signature epoxy C⁻O vibration band at 1040 cm-1 (which decreased upon the introduction of metal nanoparticle) and the PANI characteristic N⁻H stretching vibration band at 3144 cm-1 present only in the GO/M/DBSA⁻PANI systems. The composites were tested for their suitability as supercapacitor materials; and specific capacitance values of 206.4, 192.8 and 227.2 F·g-1 were determined for GO/Ag/DBSA⁻PANI, GO/Cu/DBSA⁻PANI and GO/Pt/DBSA⁻PANI, respectively. The GO/Pt/DBSA⁻PANI electrode exhibited the best specific capacitance value of the three electrodes and also had twice the specific capacitance value reported for Graphene/MnO₂//ACN (113.5 F·g-1). This makes GO/Pt/DBSA⁻PANI a very promising organic supercapacitor material.

Abstract
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) have provided unprecedented advances in the design of electrochemical sensors. They are composed by sp2 carbon units oriented as multiple concentric tubes of rolled-up graphene, and present remarkable active surface area, chemical inertness, high strength, and low charge-transfer resistance in both aqueous and non-aqueous solutions. MWCNT are very versatile and have been boosting the development of a new generation of electrochemical sensors with application in medicine, pharmacology, food industry, forensic chemistry, and environmental fields. This work highlights the most important synthesis methods and relevant electrochemical properties of MWCNT for the construction of electrochemical sensors, and the numerous configurations and successful applications of these devices. Thousands of studies have been attesting to the exceptional electroanalytical performance of these devices, but there are still questions in MWCNT electrochemistry that deserve more investigation, aiming to provide new outlooks and advances in this field. Additionally, MWCNT-based sensors should be further explored for real industrial applications including for on-line quality control.

Abstract
This study introduces a new strategy for periodic stacking of positively charged NiAl layered double hydroxides (LDHs) nanosheets with negatively charged monolayers of graphene (G) by systematically optimizing several parameters in a controlled co-feeding fashion and resultant heterostacked NiAl LDH/G LBL nanocomposites have been practically applied in sensitive detection of dopamine released from live cells as early Parkinson's disease (PD) diagnostic tool. PD is the second most chronic neurodegenerative disorder with gradual progressive loss of movement and muscle control causing substantial disability and threatening the life seriously. Unfortunately majority of dopaminergic neurons present in substantia nigra of PD patients are destroyed before it is being clinically diagnosed, so early stages PD diagnosis is essential. Because of direct neighboring of extremely conductive graphene to semiconductive LDHs layers, enhanced intercalation capability of LDHs, and huge surface area with numerous active sites, good synergy effect is harvested in heteroassembled NiAl LDH/G LBL material, which in turn shows admirable electrocatalytic ability in DA detection. The interference induced by UA and AA is effectively eliminated especially after the modifying the electrode with Nafion. The outstanding electrochemical sensing performance of NiAl LDH/G LBL modified electrode has been achieved in terms of broad linear range and lowest real detection limit of 2 nM (S/N = 3) towards DA oxidation. Benefitting from superior efficiency, biosensor has been successfully used for real-time in-vitro tracking of DA efflux from live human nerve cell after being stimulated. We believe that our biosensing platform of structurally integrated well-ordered LBL heteroassembly by inserting graphene directly to the interlayer galleries of LDHs material will open up new avenue in diseases determination window.

Abstract
The nanocomposite of an electron-deficient flat tetrakis-(ethoxycarbonyl) porphyrin copper(II) (Cu-TECP) and reduced grapheme oxide (RGO) was prepared and used for electrochemical detection of dopamine (DA). The prepared nanocomposite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Electrochemical studies of the modified glass carbon electrode (GCE) were carried out by the cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammograms (DPV) methods. The RGO/Cu-TECP/GCE exhibited enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards the detection of dopamine (DA). The detection limit was 0.58 μM, while the linear range was from 2 to 200 μM ([Formula: see text] 0.997).
