In-situ electrochemical co-deposition of bimetallic CuCo nanoparticles on cubic mesoporous carbon for ultrasensitive electrochemical sensing of cyadox

Molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor based on metal-covalent organic framework for specifically recognizing norfloxacin from unpretreated milk

Here, a molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor (MIECS) was designed and fabricated for specifically monitoring norfloxacin (NFX), an entirely synthetic antibiotic. In which, Cu2+ dopped covalent organic framework (COF) was used to connect NFX imprinting layer and glassy carbon electrode through covalence. Under optimized conditions, the linear range is as wide as 5 orders of magnitude, and the detection limit is 5.94 × 10-3 μM (estimated based on S/N = 3). Average recoveries are among 92.4%-99.0% with relative standard deviations ≤ 4.05% (n = 3) in (spiked) whole, low-fat, and skimmed milk, validated by independent HPLC assays. The excellent performance can be ascribed to the significant recognition and enriching ability of the imprinting layer, improved conductivity of Cu2+ dopped covalent organic framework, and high stability of covalence between layers. We hope the work will act as a model of MIECSs for rapidly and selectively detecting trace drug residue in complex real samples.

Carbon Nanomaterials-Based Novel Hybrid Platforms for Electrochemical Sensor Applications in Drug Analysis

Nowadays, the rapid improvements in the medical and pharmaceutical fields increase the diversity and use of drugs. However, problems such as the use of multiple or combined drugs in the treatment of diseases and insensible use of over-the-counter drugs have caused concerns about the side-effect profiles and therapeutic ranges of drugs and environmental contamination and pollution problems due to pharmaceuticals waste. Therefore, the analysis of drugs in various media such as biological, pharmaceutical, and environmental samples is an important topic of discussion. Electrochemical methods are advantageous for sensor applications due to their easy application, low cost, versatility, high sensitivity, and environmentally-friendliness. Carbon nanomaterials such as diamond-like carbon thin films, carbon nanotubes, carbon nanofibers, graphene oxide, and nanodiamonds are used to enhance the performance of the electrochemical sensors with catalytic effects. To further improve this effect, it is aimed to create hybrid platforms by using different carbon nanomaterials together or with materials such as conductive polymers and ionic liquids. In this review, the most used carbon nanoforms will be evaluated in terms of electrochemical characterizations and physicochemical properties. Furthermore, the effect of hybrid platforms developed in the most recent studies on electrochemical sensors will be examined and evaluated in terms of drug analysis studies in the last five years.

Facile bimetallic co-amplified electrochemical sensor for folic acid sensing based on CoNPs and CuNPs

Folic acid (FA) is essential for human health, particularly for pregnant women and infants. In this work, a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified by a bimetallic layer of Cu/Co nanoparticles (CuNPs/CoNPs) as a synergistic amplification element by simple step-by-step electrodeposition, and was used for sensitive detection of FA. The proposed CuNPs/CoNPs/GCE sensor was characterized by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Then, under optimal conditions, a linear relationship was obtained in the wide range of 110.00-1750.00 μM for the detection of FA with a limit of detection (LOD) of 34.79 μM (S/N = 3). The sensitivity was calculated as 0.096 μA μM^-1 cm^-2. Some interfering compounds including glucose (Glc), biotin, dopamine (DA), and glutamic acid (Glu) showed little effect on the detection of FA by amperometry (i-t). Finally, the average recovery obtained was in a range of 91.77-110.06%, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) less than 8.00% in FA tablets, indicating that the proposed sensor can accurately and effectively detect the FA content in FA tablets.
