Selective electro-oxidation of dopamine on Co or Fe supported onto N-doped ketjenblack

Urchin-like CoP3/Cu3P heterostructured nanorods supported on a 3D porous copper foam for high-performance non-enzymatic electrochemical dopamine sensors

In this study, we developed a high-performance non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor based on urchin-like CoP3/Cu3P heterostructured nanorods supported on a three-dimensional porous copper foam, namely, CoP3/Cu3P NRs/CF, for the detection of dopamine. Benefiting from the promising intrinsic catalytic activities of CoP3 and Cu3P, urchin-like microsphere structures, and a large electrochemically active surface area for exposing numerous accessible catalytic active sites, the proposed CoP3/Cu3P NRs/CF shows extraordinary electrochemical response towards the electrocatalytic oxidation of dopamine. As a result, the CoP3/Cu3P NRs/CF sensing electrode has a broad detection window (from 0.2 to 2000 μM), low detection limit (0.51 μM), high electrochemical sensitivity (0.0105 mA μM-1 cm-2), excellent selectivity towards dopamine in the coexistence of some interfering species, and good stability for dopamine determination. More importantly, the CoP3/Cu3P NRs/CF catalyst also exhibits excellent catalytic activity, sensitivity, and selectivity for dopamine detection under simulated human body conditions at a physiological pH of 7.25 (0.1 M PBS) at 36.6 °C.

Enhancing Electrochemical Non-Enzymatic Dopamine Sensing Based on Bimetallic Nickel/Cobalt Phosphide Nanosheets

In this study, the successful synthesis of bimetallic nickel/cobalt phosphide nanosheets (Ni-Co-P NSs) via the hydrothermal method and the subsequent high-temperature phosphorization process were both confirmed. Ni-Co-P NSs exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity for the electrochemical non-enzymatic DA sensing. The surface morphologies and physicochemical properties of Ni-Co-P NSs were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), field-emission scanning (FESEM), field-emission transmission electron microscopy (FETEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Further, the electrochemical performance was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The metallic nature of phosphide and the synergistic effect of Ni/Co atoms in Ni-Co-P NSs provided abundant catalytic active sites for the electrochemical redox reaction of DA, which exhibited a remarkable consequence with a wide linear range from 0.3~50 μM, a high sensitivity of 2.033 µA µM-1 cm-2, a low limit of detection of 0.016 µM, and anti-interference ability. As a result, the proposed Ni-Co-P NSs can be considered an ideal electrode material for the electrochemical non-enzymatic DA sensing.

Synthesis and characterization of activated carbon supported bimetallic Pd based nanoparticles and their sensor and antibacterial investigation

Activated carbon (AC) supported palladium cobalt bimetallic nanoparticles (PdCo@AC NPs) were obtained by green synthesis method using Cinnamomum verum (C. Verum) extract. The obtained NPs were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Crystallography (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Ultraviolet Visible (UV-VIS) spectroscopy, and the functional groups and morphology of the nanoparticle were elucidated. The resulting particle size was found to be 2.467 nm. NPs were evaluated using Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Scan Rate (SR), and Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) techniques for potential dopamine sensors application. According to the obtained DPV results, Limit of Detection (LOD) and Limit of Quantitation (LOQ) values are found to be 5.68 pM and 17.21 pM, respectively. It was also observed that AC supported PdCo nanoparticles obtained from C. verum extract sensed dopamine quite well. Besides, to examine the antibacterial properties of NPs, antibacterial analyzes were performed with Escherichia coli (E. Coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. Aureus). It was observed that it showed good antibacterial properties against gram positive (S. aureus) and gram negative (E. coli) bacteria. The study gave important results in terms of the synthesis of bimetallic NPs using the green synthesis method and their usability in different areas. With this study, it was observed that a good antibacterial dopamine sensor were obtained with the successful biogenic synthesis of AC supported PdCo bimetallic NPs.
