Abstract
Numerous investigations have consistently underscored the impact of societal stigma on the well-being of transgender individuals. The primary objective of the current research is to translate and adapt the Attitudes Toward Transgendered Individuals Scale into the Greek language. This scale specifically assesses stigma, excluding components such as discreteness and violence, and is tailored to evaluate individuals within the general populace. Employing confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and assessing gender metric equivalence, the analyses yielded highly favorable outcomes, demonstrating excellent scale fit, reliability, and construct validity, reflecting the robustness of the adapted tool for the Greek population.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study purposed to analyze perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians and related factors among individuals with psychiatric illnesses in southern Thailand. MATERIALS AND METHODS From May to July 2023, a cross-sectional study was conducted at four psychiatric outpatient clinics in Southern Thailand. The questionnaires utilized were: 1) a demographic information questionnaire, 2) a questionnaire regarding attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians, 3) a questionnaire evaluating individuals' attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians while receiving medical attention, and 4) a patient-doctor relationship questionnaire. All data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the factors associated with perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians were analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank sum test, the Kruskal-Wallis test, and linear regressions. The analyses were conducted using the R Foundation for Statistical Computing software, version 4.3.1. Statistical significance was defined as a p-value of less than 0.05. RESULTS Among our 542 participants, the mean age was 36.3 ± 14.1 years. The majority were female (64.6%), Buddhist (62.4%), and diagnosed with depression (46.3%). Approximately three-quarters showed a good doctor-patient relationship (74.0%). The median (IQR) score of the perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians was 75 (66, 88). Predominantly, the LGBTQ + physicians were perceived as normal (76.3%) and being a viable part of society (88.7%). Moreover, our participants disagreed with the view that being an LGBTQ + physician was a sin (70.6%) or immoral (68.2%). They felt comfortable during history taking (79.0%), physical examination not involving private parts of the body (72.5%), and management for both medical (78.4%) and psychiatric conditions (81.4%) at the hands of LGBTQ + physicians. However, they reported feeling uncomfortable during history taking involving private matters (6.3%) and the physical examination of private parts (16.4%). Older age, absence of LGBTQ + close relatives/friends, and being a Muslim were associated with lower scores of perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians. Conversely, a higher level of education and a reported mismatch between the patient's sex and gender were associated with higher scores. CONCLUSIONS Most participants reported positive perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians. However, some age groups and adherents of Islam showed lower perceived attitude scores and reported feeling uncomfortable receiving medical treatment from LGBTQ + physicians. On the one hand, LGBTQ + physicians have cause to be concerned about this point; on the other hand, finding appropriate approaches to promote positive attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians among these groups of people remains a necessity.

Abstract
A growing number of studies show that transgender people are at higher risk for psychiatric morbidities. This increased vulnerability can result from the discrimination, violence, and other forms of stigma transgender people experience. Several studies have assessed the stigma by studying the public attitudes and beliefs towards transgender people. Using the Genderism and Transphobia Scale, we evaluated how citizens of a metropolitan city in Iran think and feel about transgender people. A total number of 1202 participants, with a mean age of 41.57 years ± 13.41 (27.4% cisgender men and 72.6% cisgender women), were recruited via a random cluster sampling. Demographic data and socioeconomic status were collected for all the participants. The findings showed a notable level of transphobia. Participants identifying as men, being single, personally acquainted with a transgender individual, possessing a higher education, and having a higher socioeconomic standing displayed significantly more positive views towards transgender people. Iranian transgender people, living under a theocratic state, experience more challenges compared to those live in Western countries. Our findings demonstrate that educational level accounted for much of the variance in transgender attitudes. Therefore, representing transgender issues in social media can educate the general population and positively change attitudes and behaviors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adequacy of learning models and their ability to engage students and match session's objectives are critical factors in achieving the desired outcome. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we assess the methodological approach, content, and effectiveness of training initiatives addressing medical students' knowledge, attitudes, confidence and discrimination perception towards LGBTQIA + people. METHOD PubMed, Web of Science, Medline and Scopus were searched to identify published studies, from 2013 to 2023, on effectiveness of training initiatives addressing medical students' knowledge, attitudes, confidence and discrimination perception towards LGBTQIA + people. The risk of bias of the selected studies was assessed by the Medical Education Research Study Quality Instrument. Overall effect sizes were calculated using a Mantel-Haenszel method, fixed effect meta-analyses. RESULTS A total of 22 studies were included, representing 2,164 medical students. The interventions were highly diverse and included seminars, lectures, videos, real-case discussions, roleplay, and group discussions with people from the LGBTQIA + community. After the interventions, there was a significant improvement in self-confidence and comfort interacting with patients and in the understanding of the unique and specific health concerns experienced by LGBTQIA + patients. CONCLUSION Our findings indicated that the outcomes of interventions training actions for medical students that promote knowledge and equity regarding LGBTQIA + people, regardless of their scope, methodology and duration, result in a considerable increase in students' self-confidence and comfort interacting with LGBTQIA + patients, highlight the need for more actions and programs in this area promoting a more inclusive society and greater equity.

Abstract
PURPOSE Family physicians are increasingly more likely to encounter transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) patients requesting gender-affirming care. Given the significant health inequities faced by the TGD community, this study aimed to assess changes in military-affiliated clinicians' perspectives toward gender-affirming care over time. METHODS Using a serial cross-sectional survey design of physicians at the 2016 and 2023 Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians conferences, we studied participants' perception of, comfort with, and education on gender-affirming care using Fisher's Exact tests and logistic regression. RESULTS Response rates were 68% (n = 180) and 69% (n = 386) in 2016 and 2023, respectively. Compared to 2016, clinicians in 2023 were significantly more likely to report receiving relevant education during training, providing care to >1 patient with gender dysphoria, and being able to provide nonjudgmental care. In 2023, 26% reported an unwillingness to prescribe gender-affirming hormones (GAH) to adults due to ethical concerns. In univariable analysis, female-identifying participants were more likely to report willingness to prescribe GAH (OR = 2.6, 95%CI = 1.7-4.1) than male-identifying participants. Willingness to prescribe was also associated with ≥4 h of education (OR = 2.2, 95%CI = 1.1-4.2) compared to those with fewer than 4 h, and those who reported the ability to provide nonjudgmental care compared to those who were neutral (OR = 0.09, 95%CI = 0.04-0.2) or disagreed (OR = 0.11, 95%CI = 0.03-0.39). Female-identifying clinicians were more likely to agree additional training would benefit their practice (OR = 5.3, 95%CI = 3.3-8.5). CONCLUSIONS Although military-affiliated family physicians endorsed more experience with and willingness to provide nonjudgmental gender-affirming care in 2023 than 2016, profound gaps in patient experience may remain based on the assigned clinician. Additional training opportunities should be available, and clinicians unable to provide gender-affirming care should ensure timely referrals. Future research should explore trends across clinical specialties.

Abstract
Introduction Transgender patients face substantial systemic healthcare barriers and inadequate care from providers who often demonstrate clinical gaps in the medical needs of the transgender community. Providing interventions in which affirming transgender healthcare is explored, is crucial to delivering competent transgender-patient care and building compassionate physician-patient relationships. The Northeast Pennsylvania (NEPA) Trans Health Conference was established to address the growing need for an educational forum where transgender people could voice their narratives. In this educational intervention study, changes in the knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about the psychosocial and medical needs of the transgender community in first-year undergraduate medical students were examined pre- and post-trans health conference attendance. Materials and methods In the late spring of both 2018 and 2019, first-year medical students attended the NEPA Trans Health Conference, hosted by the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM). Student knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs, regarding the healthcare needs of the transgender community were evaluated prior to and directly after the conference (intervention). Though the surveys shared thematic similarities, the 2018 and 2019 surveys were different and thus were not used comparatively. Results In 2018, 35.24% of first-year medical students (37/105 participants) completed both the pre- and post-survey. Overall, 62.5% (5/8) of survey items yielded significant differences. In 2019, 25.5%, of first-year medical students (28/110 participants) completed both the pre- and post-survey and 47.6% (9/21) of survey items yielded significant results. Overall, although the majority of first-year medical students displayed positive attitudes toward trans people pre-intervention, the students also demonstrated increased knowledge, empathy, and understanding of the transgender healthcare narrative post-intervention. Conclusion Providing medical students with a humanistic intervention within the medical curriculum that is focused on the transgender person, in addition to their past and present healthcare experiences, offers a bridge between academic content and providing inclusive gender-affirming healthcare to all patients.

Abstract
Background There is a widespread gap among medical professionals about transgender, and it needs to be addressed through proper educational intervention to inculcate positive attitudes toward transgender people. Aim This study aimed to assess the attitude of medical undergraduate students toward transgender and change thereafter by educational intervention. Materials and Methods A total of 169 final-year undergraduate students (aged 22-25 years; 50.3% males; all having heterosexual orientation) were assessed for their attitudes toward transgender people using the Genderism and Transphobia Scale (GTS) and Attitude toward Transgender Individuals Scale (ATTIS). Subsequently, an educational intervention was conducted. The attitude scores were again evaluated immediately and after one month of post-intervention. A paired t-test, independent-samples t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to compare the data. Results Mean ATTIS and GTS scores before intervention were 67.02 ± 9.20 and 80.84 ± 26.07, respectively. After the educational intervention, these scores were 79.27 ± 7.18 and 63.20 ± 12.11, respectively, thus showing a significant change in both scores. The change in GTS score was significantly higher in males than in females (P < 0.001) and in urban than in rural residents (P = 0.017). No significant association of demographic factors was observed concerning the change in ATTIS scores. On evaluating the recall value, no significant decline in GTS or ATTIS scores was observed following a one month of interval. Conclusion There is a need to positively reinforce these changes brought about by educational intervention in the attitude of undergraduate medical students toward transgender people. Such cognitive gains are achievable in developing a humanistic society.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Transgender people face significantly greater discrimination and health disparities in health care settings than cisgender people. The role of education in eliminating this phenomenon has been increasingly recognized by many medical schools. However, transgender health content is sparse or lacking in the medical curricula of many countries. METHOD This study was designed to validate the Greek version of the Transgender Attitudes and Beliefs Scale (TABS-Gr). The study adopted a cross-sectional, comparative-descriptive research design. Participants (N = 203) were contacted through online recruitment and invited to complete an anonymous web-based survey. The data were collected between December 2022 and February 2023. RESULTS The overall reliability of the TABS-Gr questionnaire was high (Cronbach's α = 0.961, p. from Hotelling's T-squared test < 0.000). High Cronbach's alpha values were estimated for the three subscales, with α = 0.958 for Interpersonal Comfort, α = 0.906 for Gender Beliefs, and α = 0.952 for Human Values. Hotelling's T-squared test confirmed that all items on the scale had the same mean (p < 0.001 for all subgroups). Explanatory factor analysis (EFA) demonstrated adequate fit. Convergent and discriminant validity were validated based on the estimated correlations. The three-factor structure of the Greek TABS version was confirmed. The mean total score was 155.95 (SD = 30.63), indicating that medical students had a moderately positive attitude towards transgender people. Participants showed significantly less biased (more tolerant, positive) attitudes towards transgender people on the Interpersonal Comfort (IC) and Human Value (HV) subscales than on the Sex/Gender Beliefs (SGB) subscale. A demographic comparison was conducted and demonstrated a correlation between scores and sociodemographics, except for place of origin. A statistically significant increase in the total mean score was estimated for women compared to men. CONCLUSION The overall psychometric findings provide some evidence to support the validity of the Greek version of the TABS. However, we call for further validation research in Greek medical schools. Since our claims for validity are based in part on an exploratory factor analysis, a future confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is part of our call for further validation research. While the results of this study are mostly in line with the results of previous research, some nuances were identified. These results may inform educators, medical school curricula and education policy-makers.

Abstract
Introduction Integrating training on health equity of sexual and gender minorities (SGM) in medical education has been challenging globally despite emphasis on the need for medical students to develop competence to provide adequate care for diverse patient groups. This study elicits Taiwanese medical students’ perceptions of their values and preparedness to care for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender (LGBT) patients using a qualitative approach that considers broader societal changes, and more focused topics such as the provision of relevant training in medical education. Methods Eighty-nine medical students/trainees from two southern Taiwanese medical schools (one public and one private) participated in focus groups (n = 70) and individual interviews (n = 19). Qualitative analysis was conducted using inductive thematic analysis. Results Participants (i) expressed wide social acceptance and openness toward LGBT individuals, but were unsure of ways to communicate with LGBT patients; (ii) confirmed that stigmatization and biases might be developed during their training; (iii) recognized gender stereotypes could have negative impacts on clinical reasoning; (iv) considered themselves prepared to care for LGBT patients, yet equated non-discriminatory attitudes to preparedness; (v) acknowledged a lack of relevant professional skills; (vi) implicated curriculum did not address LGBT issues systematically and explicitly. Conclusion This study has identified the insufficiencies of current medical training and inadequate preparedness of medical students/trainees to provide better care for LGBT patients. It provides insights for medical educators to design and implement effective medical curriculum and training, and faculty development programs to equip medical students/trainees with self-awareness and competencies to more readily provide holistic care for SGM, in keeping up with social progress, and promote health equity for a more diverse patient population.
