A study of the chemical and the enzyme-catalyzed oxidative polymerization of aromatic diamine bearing chlor substituents, pursuant to structural, thermal and photophysical properties

Fluorescent Oligomeric Nanoparticle from Diaminopyridine Compound Via Enzyme-Catalyzed Oxidation

An oligomeric nanoparticle was obtained through an enzyme-catalyzed oxidation reaction using Horse Radish Peroxidase (HRP) with the 2,3-diaminopyridine (DAP) compound as the starting material. The structural characterizations of the synthesized oligomeric nanoparticles [[oligo(DAP)]Enz] were performed with 1H-NMR and FT-IR. The surface features were determined by scanning electron microscopy. The optical properties were determined by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectra. It was found that the obtained oligomeric nanoparticles had a different fluorescent character with 15.90% quantum yield from the monomer and emitted green color at 485 nm when excited with light at a wavelength of 420 nm. The electrochemical band gap of the oligomeric nanoparticles, whose electrochemical character was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, was calculated as 2.09 eV. The thermal stability of the oligomeric material was determined from the mass loss against increasing temperature. The monomer exhibited greater thermal stability in comparison to the polymer, both in terms of the temperature at which the maximum mass loss occurred and the residual amount after heating concluded.

Electrical conductivity and thermal stability of surface-modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes/polysulfone/poly(p-phenylenediamine) composites

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were functionalized with acid then coated with poly(p-phenylenediamine) (PpPD). Various concentrations of modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs@PpPD) were introduced to a polysulfone (PSU) and poly(p-phenylenediamine) (PpPD) blend providing nanocomposites in form of sheets. Chemical oxidative polymerization was used to polymerize p-phenylenediamine. PpPD is then applied as a compatibilizer in such heterogeneous system to facilitate a successful percolation for MWCNTs in the polymeric matrix as an enhanced conductive filler. The morphological investigations showed homogeneous distribution for MWCNTs in the polymeric matrix. The prepared composites were investigated demonstrating favorable thermal and electrical properties. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) emphasized that MWCNTs@PpPD contributed in enhancing the thermal stability of the prepared sheets. The electrical conductivity of PSU/PpPD/MWCNTs@PpPD nanocomposites boosted upon raising the magnitude of loaded MWCNTs. The existence of MWCNTs@PpPD in the polymeric matrix extended the interfacial polarization effects with elevating the conductance. The loaded composite with (7.5 wt%) MWCNTs@PpPD showed the optimum electrical conductivity values. It was then treated with HCl to protonate the amine groups in PpPD showing higher conductivity value than its corresponding untreated one. PpPD and MWCNTs contributed synergistically in modifying the insulation feature of PSU to a favorable electrical conductivity one.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure, DFT Theoretical Calculationand Physico-Chemical Characterization of a New Complex Material (C6H8Cl2N2)2[Cd3Cl10]·6H2O

The chemical preparation, crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and spectroscopic characterization of the novel cadmium (II) 2,5-dichloro-p-phenylendiaminium decachlorotricadmate(II) hexahydrate complex, (C6H8Cl2N2)2[Cd3Cl10]·6H2O, has been reported. The atomic arrangement can be described as built up by an anionic framework, formed by edge-sharing [CdCl6]2− octahedra in linear polymeric chains spreading along the a-axis, while the organic cations surround these latters. The inspection of the Hirshfeld surface analysis helps to discuss the strength of hydrogen bonds and to quantify the inter-contacts, which reveal that H…Cl/Cl…H (38.9%), H…H (13.9%), and Cd…Cl/Cl…Cd (12.4%) are the main interactions that govern the crystal packing of the studied structure. SEM/EDXwas carried out and the powder XRD confirmed the good crystallinity of the material. FT-IR and the DFT calculation reveal the good correlation between the experimental and the theoretical wavenumbers. The HOMO-LUMO energy gap was used to predict the electric conductivity of the compound. Finally, the thermal TGA/DTA analysis shows stability until 380 K.
