Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate combinations of candidate biomarkers to develop a multiplexed prediction model for identifying the viability and location of an early pregnancy. In this study, we assessed 24 biomarkers with multiple machine learning-based methodologies to assess if multiplexed biomarkers may improve the diagnosis of normal and abnormal early pregnancies. DESIGN A nested case-control design evaluated the predictive ability and discrimination of biomarkers in patients at risk of early pregnancy failure in the first trimester to classify viability and location. SETTING Three university hospitals. PATIENTS A total of 218 individuals with pain and/or bleeding in early pregnancy: 75 had an ongoing intrauterine gestation; 68 had ectopic pregnancies (EPs); and 75 had miscarriages. INTERVENTIONS Serum levels of 24 biomarkers were assessed in the same patients. Multiple machine learning-based methodologies to evaluate combinations of these top candidates to develop a multiplexed prediction model for the identification of a nonviable pregnancy (ongoing intrauterine pregnancy vs. miscarriage or EP) and an EP (EP vs. ongoing intrauterine pregnancy or miscarriage). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES The predicted classification using each model was compared with the actual diagnosis, and sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, conclusive classification, and accuracy were calculated. RESULTS Models using classification regression tree analysis using 3 (pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 3 [PSG3], chorionic gonadotropin-alpha subunit, and pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A) biomarkers were able to predict a maximum sensitivity of 93.3% and a maximum specificity of 98.6%. The model with the highest accuracy was 97.4% (with 70.2% receiving classification). Models using an overlapping group of 3 (soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1, PSG3, and tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2) biomarkers achieved a maximum sensitivity of 98.5% and a maximum specificity of 95.3%. The model with the highest accuracy was 94.4% (with 65.6% receiving classification). When the models were used simultaneously, the conclusive classification increased to 72.7% with an accuracy of 95.9%. The predictive ability of the biomarkers in the random forest produced similar test characteristics when using 11 predictive biomarkers. CONCLUSION We have demonstrated a pool of biomarkers from divergent biological pathways that can be used to classify individuals with potential early pregnancy loss. The biomarkers choriogonadotropin alpha, pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A, and PSG3 can be used to predict viability, and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1, tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2, and PSG3 can be used to predict pregnancy location.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess performance and discriminatory capacity of commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays of biomarkers for predicting first trimester pregnancy outcome in a multi-center cohort. DESIGN In a case-control study at three academic centers of women with pain and bleeding in early pregnancy, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays of biomarkers were screened for assay performance. Performance was assessed via functional sensitivity, assay reportable range, recovery/linearity, and intra-assay precision (%Coefficient of Variation). Top candidates were analyzed for discriminatory capacity for viability and location among 210 women with tubal ectopic pregnancy, viable intrauterine pregnancy, or miscarriage. Assay discrimination was assessed by visual plots, area under the curve with 95% confidence intervals, and measures of central tendency with two-sample t-tests. RESULTS Of 25 biomarkers evaluated, 22 demonstrated good or acceptable assay performance. Transgelin-2, oviductal glycoprotein, and integrin-linked kinase were rejected due to poor performance. The best biomarkers for discrimination of pregnancy location were pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 9, pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 1, insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1, kisspeptin (KISS1), pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 3, and beta parvin (PARVB). The best biomarkers for discrimination of pregnancy viability were pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 9, pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 3, EH domain-containing protein 3, KISS1, WAP four-disulfide core domain protein 2 (HE4), quiescin sulfhydryl oxidase 2, and pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 1. CONCLUSION Performance of commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays was acceptable for a panel of novel biomarkers to predict early pregnancy outcome. Of these, six and seven candidates demonstrated good discriminatory capacity of pregnancy location and viability, respectively, when validated in a distinct external population. Four markers demonstrated good discrimination for both location and viability.

Abstract
Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is associated with high maternal morbidity and mortality. Ultrasonography is the only dependable diagnostic tool for confirming an ectopic pregnancy. In view of inadequate early detection methods, women suffer from a high-life risk due to the severity of EP. Early detection of EP using pathological/molecular markers will possibly improve clinical diagnosis and patient management. Salivary proteins contain potential biomarkers for diagnosing and detecting various physiological and/or pathological conditions. Therefore, the present investigation was designed to explore the salivary proteome with special reference to EP. Gel-based protein separation was performed on saliva, followed by identification of proteins using Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Totally, 326 proteins were identified in the salivary samples, among which 101 were found to be specific for ruptured ectopic pregnancy (EPR). Reactome analysis revealed innate immune system, neutrophil degranulation, cell surface interactions at the vascular wall, and FCERI-mediated NF-kB activation as the major pathways to which the salivary proteins identified during EPR are associated. Glutathione-S-transferase omega-1 (GSTO1) is specific for EPR and has been reported as a candidate biomarker in the serum of EPR patients. Therefore, saliva would be a potential source of diagnostic non-invasive protein biomarker(s) for EP. Intensive investigation on the salivary proteins specific to EP can potentially lead to setting up of a panel of candidate biomarkers and developing a non-invasive protein-based diagnostic kit.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Differentiating between a normal intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) and abnormal conditions including early pregnancy loss (EPL) or ectopic pregnancy (EP) is a major clinical challenge in early pregnancy. Currently, serial β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) and progesterone are the most commonly used plasma biomarkers for evaluating pregnancy prognosis when ultrasound is inconclusive. However, neither biomarker can predict an EP with sufficient and reproducible accuracy. Hence, identification of new plasma biomarkers that can accurately diagnose EP would have great clinical value. METHODS Plasma was collected from a discovery cohort of 48 consenting women having an IUP, EPL, or EP. Samples were analyzed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) followed by a label-free proteomics analysis to identify significant changes between pregnancy outcomes. A panel of 14 candidate biomarkers were then verified in an independent cohort of 74 women using absolute quantitation by targeted parallel reaction monitoring mass spectrometry (PRM-MS) which provided the capacity to distinguish between closely related protein isoforms. Logistic regression and Lasso feature selection were used to evaluate the performance of individual biomarkers and panels of multiple biomarkers to predict EP. RESULTS A total of 1391 proteins were identified in an unbiased plasma proteome discovery. A number of significant changes (FDR ≤ 5%) were identified when comparing EP vs. non-EP (IUP + EPL). Next, 14 candidate biomarkers (ADAM12, CGA, CGB, ISM2, NOTUM, PAEP, PAPPA, PSG1, PSG2, PSG3, PSG9, PSG11, PSG6/9, and PSG8/1) were verified as being significantly different between EP and non-EP in an independent cohort (FDR ≤ 5%). Using logistic regression models, a risk score for EP was calculated for each subject, and four multiple biomarker logistic models were identified that performed similarly and had higher AUCs than models with single predictors. CONCLUSIONS Overall, four multivariable logistic models were identified that had significantly better prediction of having EP than those logistic models with single biomarkers. Model 4 (NOTUM, PAEP, PAPPA, ADAM12) had the highest AUC (0.987) and accuracy (96%). However, because the models are statistically similar, all markers in the four models and other highly correlated markers should be considered in further validation studies.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Miscarriage is a major concern in early pregnancy among women having conceived with assisted reproductive treatments. This study aimed to examine potential miscarriage-related biophysical and biochemical markers at 6 weeks' gestation among women with confirmed clinical pregnancy following in vitro fertilization (IVF)/embryo transfer (ET) and evaluate the performance of a model combining maternal factors, biophysical and biochemical markers at 6 weeks' gestation in the prediction of first trimester miscarriage among singleton pregnancies following IVF/ET. MATERIAL AND METHODS A prospective cohort study was conducted in a teaching hospital between December 2017 and January 2020 including women who conceived through IVF/ET. Maternal mean arterial pressure, ultrasound markers including mean gestational sac diameter, fetal heart activity, crown rump length and mean uterine artery pulsatility index (mUTPI) and biochemical biomarkers including maternal serum soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1), placental growth factor (PlGF), kisspeptin and glycodelin-A were measured at 6 weeks' gestation. Logistic regression analysis was carried out to determine significant predictors of miscarriage prior to 13 weeks' gestation and performance of screening was estimated by receiver-operating characteristics curve analysis. RESULTS Among 169 included pregnancies, 145 (85.8%) pregnancies progressed to beyond 13 weeks' gestation and had live births whereas 24 (14.2%) pregnancies resulted in a miscarriage during the first trimester. In the miscarriage group, compared to the live birth group, maternal age, body mass index, and mean arterial pressure were significantly increased; mean gestational sac diameter, crown rump length, mUTPI, serum sFlt-1, glycodelin-A, and the rate of positive fetal heart activity were significantly decreased, while no significant differences were detected in PlGF and kisspeptin. Significant prediction for miscarriage before 13 weeks' gestation was provided by maternal age, fetal heart activity, mUTPI, and serum glycodelin-A. The combination of maternal age, ultrasound (fetal heart activity and mUTPI), and biochemical (glycodelin-A) markers achieved the highest area under the curve (AUC: 0.918, 95% CI 0.866-0.955), with estimated detection rates of 54.2% and 70.8% for miscarriage before 13 weeks' gestation, at fixed false positive rates of 5% and 10%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS A combination of maternal age, fetal heart activity, mUTPI, and serum glycodelin-A at 6 weeks' gestation could effectively identify IVF/ET pregnancies at risk of first trimester miscarriage.

Abstract
PURPOSE To validate the use of a multiple biomarker test panel for predicting first trimester pregnancy outcome in a multi-center cohort. METHODS A case-control study of women presenting with pain and bleeding in early pregnancy at 5-10 weeks gestational age was performed at three academic centers. Sera from women with ectopic pregnancy (EP), viable intrauterine pregnancy (IUP), and miscarriage (SAB) were analyzed via immunoassay for Activin A (AA), Progesterone (P4), A Disintegrin And Metalloprotease-12 (ADAM12), pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPP-A), glycodelin (Glyc), and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Biomarkers were assessed for reproducibility using medians, ranges, standard deviations, and area under receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC) and accuracy in early pregnancy outcome classification compared to a previous derivation population. RESULTS In 192 pregnancies, the biomarkers demonstrated good reproducibility with similar medians, ranges, and AUCs when compared to the derivation population except glycodelin. Pregnancy location was conclusively classified in 53% (n = 94) of the whole study sample with 78% accuracy. Pregnancy viability was conclusively classified in 58% (n = 112) of the new sample with 89% accuracy. Results were similar with subsequent model revisions where glycodelin was excluded and in the subgroups of subjects with a hCG below 2000 mIU/mL and a gestational age less than 6 weeks. CONCLUSION The use of a panel of biomarkers to maximize test accuracy of a prediction of pregnancy location and prediction of pregnancy viability was reproducible and validated in an external population from which it was derived, but clinical utility is limited based on the test characteristics obtained.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Pain and bleeding complicate 30% of pregnancies, raising concerns for viability. The objective is to evaluate the diagnostic characteristics of a single serum progesterone level in assessing pregnancy viability among symptomatic patients. METHODS We conducted a predefined literature search in MEDLINE, Embase (OVID), CINAHL and Cochrane databases for studies that enrolled patients in first trimester with miscarriage symptoms, measured progesterone and reported pregnancy viability, from inception to July 2020. We extracted data for 2 × 2 tables, progesterone threshold levels and viability. We obtained summary estimates of sensitivity, specificity, Diagnostic Odds Ratio (DOR), and predictive values at given prevalence rates. RESULTS We identified 54 publications. There was a total of 15,878 patients enrolled, of whom 7864 patients (49.5%) were confirmed to have a viable pregnancy and 8014 patients (50.5%) were confirmed to have a non-viable pregnancy. The cut-off value of progesterone ranged from 3.2 to 25 ng/mL (20.034-79.5 nmol/L). We evaluated the performance of the following progesterone cut-off categories: < 6.3, 6.3-12.6, 12.7-19.9, and 20-25 ng/mL. To detect non-viable pregnancy, progesterone with cut-off < 6.3 ng/mL had sensitivity 73.1%, specificity 99.2% and DOR 322.0 (PPV 0.91, 0.97 and 0.99 at prevalences 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, respectively, indicating higher likelihood of non-viable pregnancy), and cut-off category 20-25 ng/mL had sensitivity 91.3%, specificity 75% and DOR 31.4 (NPV 0.99, 0.96 and 0.89 at the prevalences above indicating higher likelihood of viable pregnancy). CONCLUSION A single progesterone level provides a clinically useful prognostic information on pregnancy viability. More than nine out of ten patients with a level < 6.3 ng/mL (< 20.034 nmol/L) will be diagnosed with a non-viable pregnancy, and more than 90% of patients with a level ≥ 20-25 ng/mL (63.6-79.5 nmol/L) will have a viable pregnancy confirmed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In early pregnancy, differentiating between a normal intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) and abnormal gestations including early pregnancy loss (EPL) or ectopic pregnancy (EP) is a major clinical challenge when ultrasound is not yet diagnostic. Clinical treatments for these outcomes are drastically different making early, accurate diagnosis imperative. Hence, a greater understanding of the biological mechanisms involved in these early pregnancy complications could lead to new molecular diagnostics. METHODS Trophoblast and endometrial tissue was collected from consenting women having an IUP (n = 4), EPL (n = 4), or EP (n = 2). Samples were analyzed by LC-MS/MS followed by a label-free proteomics analysis in an exploratory study. For each tissue type, pairwise comparisons of different pregnancy outcomes (EPL vs. IUP and EP vs. IUP) were performed, and protein changes having a fold change ≥ 3 and a Student's t-test p-value ≤ 0.05 were defined as significant. Pathway and network classification tools were used to group significantly changing proteins based on their functional similarities. RESULTS A total of 4792 and 4757 proteins were identified in decidua and trophoblast proteomes. For decidua, 125 protein levels (2.6% of the proteome) were significantly different between EP and IUP, whereas EPL and IUP decidua were more similar with only 68 (1.4%) differences. For trophoblasts, there were 66 (1.4%) differences between EPL and IUP. However, the largest group of 344 differences (7.2%) was observed between EP and IUP trophoblasts. In both tissues, proteins associated with ECM remodeling, cell adhesion and metabolic pathways showed decreases in EP specimens compared with IUP and EPL. In trophoblasts, EP showed elevation of inflammatory and immune response pathways. CONCLUSIONS Overall, differences between an EP and IUP are greater than the changes observed when comparing ongoing IUP and nonviable intrauterine pregnancies (EPL) in both decidua and trophoblast proteomes. Furthermore, differences between EP and IUP were much higher in the trophoblast than in the decidua. This observation is true for the total number of protein changes as well as the extent of changes in upstream regulators and related pathways. This suggests that biomarkers and mechanisms of trophoblast function may be the best predictors of early pregnancy location and viability.

Abstract
Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a synthetic chemical commonly used for its plasticizing capabilities. Because of the extensive production and use of DEHP, humans are exposed to this chemical daily. Diet is a significant exposure pathway and fatty food contain the highest level of phthalates. The impact on pregnancy following DEHP exposure and the associated interaction of high fat (HF) diet remains unknown. Here we report that exposure of pregnant mice to an environmentally relevant level of DEHP did not affect pregnancy. In contrast, mice fed a HF diet during gestation and exposed to the same level of DEHP display marked impairment in placental development, resulting in poor pregnancy outcomes. Our study further reveals that DEHP exposure combined with a HF diet interfere with the signaling pathway controlled by nuclear receptor PPARγ to adversely affect differentiation of trophoblast cells, leading to compromised vascularization and glucose transport in the placenta. Collectively, these findings demonstrate that maternal diet during pregnancy is a critical factor that determines whether exposure to an environmental toxicant results in impaired placental and fetal development, causing intrauterine growth restriction, fetal morbidity, and mortality.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate serum protein calponin 2 (CNN2) as a candidate biomarker for tubal ectopic pregnancy (EP). DESIGN Retrospective study. SETTING Single University affiliated tertiary hospital. PATIENT(S) Serum samples were obtained from 84 patients with EP, 39 with viable intrauterine pregnancy (vIUP), and 42 with miscarriage. Moreover, 10 fallopian tube and corresponding villous tissue samples from patients with EP, 6 villous tissue samples from patients with vIUP, and 10 villous tissue samples from patients with miscarriage were collected. INTERVENTION(S) Serum CNN2 concentrations were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; CNN2 expression in tissues was evaluated via immunohistochemistry and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S) The diagnostic performance of serum CNN2 to discriminate an EP from vIUP and miscarriage. RESULT(S) CNN2 was highly expressed in villous stromal cells isolated from patients with EP, and CNN2 messenger ribonucleic acid expression was upregulated in villous tissues from women with EP compared with that in women with vIUPs and miscarriages. Serum CNN2 concentration was higher in women with EP than that in women with vIUP and miscarriage. The serum CNN2 predicted EP from vIUP and miscarriage with areas under the curve (AUCs) of 0.931 (95% confidence interval: 0.889-0.975). For discriminating EP from miscarriage only, the AUC was 0.906 (95% confidence interval: 0.835-0.977). In contrast, the AUCs for serum human chorionic gonadotropin were 0.809 and 0.637, respectively. CONCLUSION(S) Our data highlight the possibility of serum CNN2 as a single biomarker for the diagnosis of EP. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER ChiCTR 1900020483.

Abstract
Objective This study was performed to evaluate the capability of routine clinical indicators to predict the early outcome of embryos with cardiac activity in women with recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). Methods A retrospective cohort study of pregnant women with a history of RSA in a Chinese tertiary hospital was performed using unadjusted and multivariable logistic regression. Results Of 789 pregnant women with RSA, 625 (79.21%) had ongoing pregnancy, whereas 164 (20.79%) developed abortion before 20 full weeks of gestational age even after embryonic heart motion was detected. The final model had an area under the curve of 0.81 (95% confidence interval, 0.78–0.84) with a sensitivity of 74.39%, a specificity of 76.00%, and a false-positive rate of 52.32% at a fixed detection rate of 90%. Conclusions The combination of multiple routine clinical indicators was valuable in predicting the early outcome of embryos with cardiac activity in viable pregnancies with RSA. However, this model might result in a high false-positive rate with a fixed detection rate of 90%; other markers must be investigated to identify first-trimester RSA once positive embryonic heart motion is established.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the value of multiple serum biomarkers for the prediction of successful outcome of expectant management in women with tubal ectopic pregnancy (TEP). STUDY DESIGN Women with a conclusive ultrasound diagnosis of TEP had a blood test to measure β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG), progesterone, inhibin A, activin A and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) at the initial visit. Women presenting with pain, serum β-hCG ≥ 1500 IU, evidence of a live ectopic pregnancy or a significant haemoperitoneum were advised to have emergency surgery. Women eligible for expectant management were followed-up prospectively until serum β-hCG declined to non-pregnant level or surgical treatment was required. RESULTS A total of 93 women with a TEP were included in the final cohort. Emergency surgery was carried out in 42/93 (45 %) of women whilst 51/93 (55 %) were managed expectantly. Of the latter group, 42/51 (82 %) had successful expectant management and 9/51(18 %) required surgical procedure after a period of follow up. On multi-variable analysis, only higher values of serum β-hCG and progesterone at the initial visit were associated with a lower chance of successful expectant management of TEP. A one-unit increase in either variable on the log-scale was associated with an approximate 20-fold reduction in the odds of a successful outcome. CONCLUSION(S) Serum β-hCG and progesterone were significantly lower in women who had successful expectant management of TEP. Other biomarkers under consideration were not significantly different in women with successful and failed expectant management.

Abstract
A circulating biomarker of early pregnancy outcome independent of ultrasonography and gestational age is a coveted goal. This study evaluated soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR), a well-described marker of inflammation and immunological activation, for this purpose, and compared it with established early pregnancy biomarkers of the luteoplacental phase: progesterone, estradiol and hCG. We merged data from two prospective first trimester cohorts to conduct a case-control study comparing these analytes in women who had either a live birth, a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy. The ability to predict pregnancy location and viability was assessed by areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUC). Comparing women irrespective of gestational age with a live birth, miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy showed significantly lower suPAR values in the latter group (2.4 vs. 2.4 vs. 2.0 μg/L, p = 0.032, respectively), as were all other analytes. Before 6 weeks' gestation, suPAR was significantly inferior to progesterone, estradiol and hCG in pregnancy location and viability prediction (in 124 pregnancies, suPAR AUClocation = 0.69 [CI: 0.54-0.83] and AUCviability = 0.58 [CI: 0.48-0.69], while progesterone AUClocation = 0.95 [CI: 0.87-1.00] and AUCviability = 0.84 [CI: 0.75-0.92]). After 6 weeks' gestation, suPAR prediction improved but was inferior to hCG, progesterone and estradiol (in 188 pregnanices, suPAR AUClocation = 0.71 [CI: 0.63-0.78] and AUCviability = 0.70 [CI: 0.63-0.78] compared with hCG AUClocation = 0.96 [CI: 0.93-0.99] and AUCviability = 0.96 [CI: 0.93-0.98]). Collectively, suPAR is less useful as a predictor of early pregnancy outcome than hCG, progesterone and estradol.

Abstract
PURPOSE A retrospective, cohort study was conducted between 2009 and 2017 in a private infertility center to determine the predictive value of endogenous estrogen (E2) and progesterone (P4) levels in hormone-replacement frozen embryo replacement (FER) treatment cycles. METHODS A total of 120 consecutive, infertile patients who became pregnant after FER cycles were analyzed (age: 37.4 ± 4.4 years). Electively vitrified blastocysts were created during natural cycle IVF or mild ovarian stimulation treatments and subsequently transferred through delayed vitrified-thawed blastocyst transfer cycles supplemented with estrogens and a combination of synthetic progestogens. Serum E2 and progesterone P4 levels were intensively monitored every five days (from the day after embryo transfer until 9w1d of pregnancy) and compared among patients with a subsequent live birth (n = 76) or first-trimester pregnancy loss (n = 44). RESULTS Endogenous placental activity started as early as 5-6th pregnancy week differing significantly according to pregnancy outcome. For P4, the exponential rise from 6w2d onwards allowed distinguishing between failing and successful conceptions. For P4, lower quartiles of the live birth group did not intersect with upper quartiles of the miscarriage group. CONCLUSIONS Innovative FER protocols incorporating synthetic progestogens allow the correct measurement of endogenous placental activity and could help to monitor early first-trimester ART pregnancies.

Abstract
Objective The protocol of 15% BhCG decrease between Days four and seven is frequently used for evaluating the success of methotrexate administration in treating ectopic pregnancy. Our objective was to study the usage of hematologic parameters for evaluating the success of methotrexate administration in treating ectopic pregnancy. Method This study was conducted between February 2014 and December 2016. Data of 434 patients were retrospectively scanned for the study. One hundred sixty-one patients whose Day one, four and seven results were recorded in the hospital information system and who were followed up until their BhCG levels decreased <10 IU/L were enrolled in the study. Three types of complete blood cell count parameters of the patients were used: 1) Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR). 2) Platelet distribution width (PDW), 3) Platelet count (PLT). Results Patients were separated into two groups as those who were treated with single-dose methotrexate and those who required surgical treatment. A significant difference was detected between the groups in terms of NLR levels on Days 1, 4, and 7 (p=0.012, p=0.035, and p=0.001, respectively). There was no significant difference detected between the groups for PDW and PLT counts on Days one, four and seven. Conclusions NLR can also be used as an alternative to BhCG for evaluating the success of single-dose methotrexate administration in treating ectopic pregnancy. However, there is need for further studies on this topic.
