Abstract
Phytoremediation is an efficient technology for the removal of herbicide atrazine (ATZ) contamination in water bodies, but its ability to reduce ATZ under combined pollution remains unclear, especially ATZ co-existing with the emerging pollutant graphene oxide (GO) that may have potential effects on ATZ fate, plants and microbes. Herein, we investigated the phytoremediation potential of an emergent plant (Iris pseudacorus) for ATZ and the response of bacteria in a hydroponic system with and without GO. The results showed that plants enhanced ATZ dissipation in water with the increased removal rate by a factor of 1.7-4.0. GO restricted ATZ uptake by plants, but favored ATZ bioconcentration in cell walls. The plant contributed most to changes in the bacterial communities, decreasing the alpha diversity, while enriching the functional categories involving in amino acid and carbohydrate metabolisms. These findings indicated that I. pseudacorus can be employed as an effective candidate of phytoremediation for ATZ co-existing with GO at environmentally relevant concentrations, tending to recruit bacteria with plant stress tolerance and growth-promotion activities more than with ATZ degradation activities; GO exerted a mitigating effect on ATZ stress improving the barrier function of cell walls, but decreased the contribution of plants to ATZ removal.

Abstract
Developing sensors with high selectivity and sensitivity is of great significance for pesticide analysis in environmental assessment. Herein, a versatile three-way sensor array was designed for the detection of the pesticide atrazine, based on the integration of catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) amplification and three-mode signal transducers. With atrazine, CHA was triggered to generate abundant G-quadruplex. The produced G-quadruplex hybrid could assemble with thioflavin T (TFT) or hemin to mimic enzyme and induce the fluorescence enhancement by TFT, or the colorimetric increase by the oxidized chromogenic substrate and the naked-eye color change by inhibiting the L-cysteine-mediated aggregation of gold nanoparticles. A distinctive three-mode array was successfully constructed with convenience, on-site accessibility and high sensitivity for enzyme-free practical analysis of atrazine. It is also effective and reliable for analyzing real samples including paddy water, paddy soil and polished rice. The detection limits for atrazine were as low as 7.4 pg/mL by colorimetric observation and 0.25 pg/mL by fluorescent detection. Furthermore, the array was exploited to monitor the residue, distribution and bioaccumulation of atrazine in maize and rice for food security and environmental assessment. Hence, this work presented a versatile example for sensitive and on-site all-in-one pesticide analysis arrays with multiple signal report modes.

Abstract
In this study, a coating of electrospun polyvinyl alcohol/modified chitosan/hydroxy-containing porous organic framework (PVA/MCS/HC-POF) was fabricated and applied as a novel sorbent for thin-film solid-phase microextraction of pesticides from cereal samples, followed by HPLC-UV. The successful fabrication of PVA/MCS/HC-POF was confirmed through characterization tests. The functional group of MCS and a large number of hydroxyl groups on the HC-POF structure contributed to the co-extraction of pesticides. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration plots were linear within the range of 5.0-800 ng mL-1 (r2 ≥ 0.978), and the limits of detection were obtained below 4.0 ng mL-1. The method's precision was investigated through intra-day, inter-day, and film-to-film RSD (%) measurements, all of which were less than 6.5 %, 8.2 %, and 10.0 %, respectively. Furthermore, satisfactory recoveries ranging from 63.3 % to 79.0 % were obtained. Accordingly, the proposed method can be considered a suitable alternative for measuring trace amounts of pesticides in cereal samples.

Abstract
Herein, a novel homemade electrical device was designed, including two pieces of external neodymium magnets, providing a reciprocating magnetic field to introduce a magnetic-assisted dispersive pipette-tip micro solid-phase extraction. To evaluate the performance efficiency of the proposed method, a novel magnetic calcined GO/SiO2@Co-Fe nanocube sorbent was synthesized, filled into the pipette-tip, exposed to the reciprocating magnetic field, and applied for the preconcentration of some hormone therapy drugs in human biological matrices. The effective adsorption and desorption parameters were optimized using a rotatable central composite design and one-variable-at-a-time approaches. Under the optimized conditions, the target analytes' detection limits were found to be below 0.02 ng mL-1. Moreover, the calibration curves were linear in the range of 0.03-500.00 ng mL-1 (R2 > 0.9966), with RSDs% less than 7.8 %. Eventually, the established method was applied to extract the analytes from breast milk samples, followed by LC-ESI-MS/MS analysis.

Highly efficient amino-functionalized aluminum-based metal organic frameworks mesoporous nanorods for selective extraction of hydrocortisone in pharmaceutical wastewater. J Pharm Biomed Anal 2022; 219:114933. [PMID: 35820249 DOI: 10.1016/j.jpba.2022.114933] [Citation(s) in RCA: 2] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 04/08/2022] [Revised: 07/02/2022] [Accepted: 07/05/2022] [Indexed: 11/28/2022]
Abstract
Hydrocortisone (HC), as a common steroid hormone drug, is also one of the key intermediates involved in the synthesis of multiple steroid hormone drugs. Residual HC in pharmaceutical wastewater frequently pollutes environmental water as steroid hormone contaminant and possesses great threat to human health as well as sustainable development of the ecosystem. Herein, in order to develop a highly efficient adsorbent system for selective enrichment and detection of HC in pharmaceutical wastewater, a novel amino-functionalized aluminum-based metal organic frameworks (Al-MOFs@NH2) mesoporous nanorod is fabricated, in which 2-aminoterephthalic acid plays a dual role as organic linker and functional modification unit. The resultant Al-MOFs@NH2 not only exhibits stable mesoporous structure but also has large specific surface area (849.76 m2 g-1) and plentiful binding sites, which significantly increases the adsorption capacity for HC. Under the promotion of hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction together, Al-MOFs@NH2 possesses high adsorption capacity (218.53 mg g-1) for HC, as well as shows satisfactory selectivity for HC and other steroid hormones. Moreover, a method using Al-MOFs@NH2 as solid phase extraction adsorbents combined with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been developed to specifically enrich and detect trace amount of HC in pharmaceutical wastewater. The developed method has a low limit of detection (LOD) (0.5×10-3 μg mL-1) and shows satisfactory recoveries for HC (75.9%-102.5%) with an acceptable relative standard deviation (RSD). These results demonstrate that the facile one-step preparation and excellent adsorption capacity makes Al-MOFs@NH2 attractive to capture and remove environmental steroid hormone pollutants. More importantly, the method proposed in this work is expected to provide a prospective solution for analysis of strong bioactive contaminants in pharmaceutical wastewater.

Effective Electrochemiluminescence Aptasensor for Detection of Atrazine Residue. SENSORS 2022; 22:s22093430. Abstract
According to the chemiluminescence characteristics of the luminol-hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) system, this work designed a novel and effective electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor to detect atrazine (ATZ) rapidly. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) could effectively catalyze the decomposition of H2O2 and enhance the ECL intensity of the luminol-H2O2 system. Once ATZ was modified on the aptasensor, the ECL intensity was significantly weakened because of the specific combination between ATZ and its aptamer. Therefore, the changes in ECL intensity could be used to detect the concentration of ATZ. Under optimal detecting conditions, the aptasensor had a wide linear range from 1 × 10−3 ng/mL to 1 × 103 ng/mL and a low limit of detection (3.3 × 10−4 ng/mL). The designed aptasensor had the advantages of good stability, reproducibility, and specificity. The aptasensor could be used to detect the ATZ content of tap water, soil, and cabbage and had satisfactory results. This work effectively constructs a novel, effective, and rapid ECL aptasensor for detecting ATZ in actual samples.

Abstract
Herein, an electrospun composite from poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and Stevia extract as a cross-linked nanofibrous was prepared with incorporating Fe-metal organic framework@Au nanoparticles (MIL-88A@AuNPs). The final composite was characterized, and then used as an efficient sorbent in pipette-tip micro solid-phase extraction (PT-µSPE) of eight selected pesticides in food samples followed by HPLC-UV analysis. Under the opted conditions, the linearity was in the range of 1.0-1000.0 ng mL-1 for atrazine and ametryn, 3.0-1500.0 ng mL-1 for tribenuron-methyl, metribuzin, profenofos and chlorpyrifos, 5.0 to 1500.0 ng mL-1 for phosalone, and 5.0-2000.0 ng mL-1 for malation with coefficient of determination (r2) ≥ 0.9943. The LODs (based on S/N = 3) ranged from 0.3 to 1.5 ng m L-1. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) were between 5.2% and 6.6% (intra-day, n = 5) and 5.9%-7.4% (inter-day, n = 3) for three consecutive days. Ultimately, the capability of the method in various food samples was appraised with good recoveries (79.3 to 97.6%).

Abstract
Triazine herbicides (TRZHs) are widely used in agricultural production, but their improper use can threaten the environment and organisms. Herein, rapid extraction of four chlorotriazine herbicides (Cl-TRZHs) in irrigation water was achieved using an ionic liquid modified porous m-aminophenol formaldehyde resin (IL-MAPFR) as a dispersive filter extraction (DFE) adsorbent. The IL-MAPFR shows excellent adsorption performance for four Cl-TRZHs (simazine, cyanazine, atrazine, and terbuthylazine), with a large specific surface area (158.1 m2 g-1) and fast mass transfer (2 min). The adsorption process conforms to the pseudo-second-order kinetics and Freundlich isotherm models. The four Cl-TRZHs were concentrated 12-16-fold after the IL-MAPFR-DFE method. Coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography, an accurate and sensitive determination method for four Cl-TRZHs in irrigation water was established, with low detection limit (0.11-0.20 ng mL-1), high recoveries (91.5-110%), and excellent precision (relative standard deviations (RSDs) ≤ 8.4%). This method provides technical support for agricultural irrigation water quality monitoring and has great application potential in water safety, especially pesticide residues.

Abstract
The successful application of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) depends on not only their unique chemical structures but also their morphology, size, and architecture. Spherical COFs (SCOFs) are attracted special attention due to the superiority of spherical materials in many applications. However, the synthesis of uniform large-sized SCOFs remains a challenge. Herein, by carefully optimizing the synthesis of a heteropore COF, we find that solvent type and catalyst concentration play important roles in determining the morphology and size of COFs, and eventually achieve the controllable synthesis of large SCOFs with uniform sizes ranging from 200 μm to 5 mm. The obtained SCOFs keep the dual-pore feature of the heteropore COF and show good stability and high crystallinity. To exhibit the superior application potential of SCOFs, the SCOFs with a size range of 200-300 μm were demonstrated to be promising solid-phase extraction (SPE) fillers. As-prepared SCOFs-packed SPE column could effectively remove ≥99% phytochrome matrix from 6 different vegetable samples in 10 s, accompanied by 72.56-112.37% recoveries of 33 chemical hazards with different physicochemical properties, thus showing greatly promising application prospects in sample pretreatment of nontargeted food safety analysis. By utilizing acid/base-adjusted reversible color change, millimeter-sized SCOFs were developed as an easy-to-operate and reusable naked-eye indicator of acids.
