Abstract
As a famous subclass of metal-oxide cluster materials, polyoxometalates (POMs) feature variable architectures, reversible multi-electron transport capability, catalytic activity, and redox capacity. These attributes endow POMs with great potential as promising electrode materials in electrochemical sensors (ECSs). Up to now, POM-based ECSs have been passionately studied, and diverse POM-based redox ECSs, aptasensors and immunosensors have emerged. And these POM-based ECSs generally demonstrate fast response, low detection limit, strong selectivity and high antijamming capability. This review mainly focuses on the remarkable advancement of POM-based ECSs in environmental monitoring, food safety and biomedicine from 2021, aiming to furnish theoretical insights that inform the design and development of innovative sensors.

Abstract
The study presents the successful development of a new electrochemical sensor with low cost and disposability for application in nitrofurazone detection in environmental and pharmaceutical samples. The sensors were fabricated using materials obtained from local storage and conductive carbon ink. The modification of the screen-printed electrodes with the hybrid nanomaterial based on silver nanoparticles, carbon quantum dots, and carbon nanotubes showed synergistic contributions in the nitrofurazone electrooxidation, as observed in the wide linear range (0.008 at 15.051 μM), with a sensitivity of 0.650 μA/μM. The limit of detection obtained was 4.6 nM. Differential pulse voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy were used to evaluate the electrochemical and structural characteristics. Studies of possible interferences were considered with nitrofurazone in the presence of the ions and organic molecules. The results were satisfactory, with a variation of 93.3% ± 4.39% at 100% ± 2.40%. The low volume used in the analyses (50 μL), disposability, high sensibility, selectivity, and low limit of detection are advantages that make the proposed sensor an electrochemical tool of high viability for the NFZ detection in environmental matrices and pharmaceutical formulations.

Abstract
The Ce-MOF/g-C3N5 composite was first constructed using a simple reflux method in an oil bath. Herein, we report that the electrochemical sensor fabricated based on this composite exhibits high performance in the detection of nitrofurazone. Interestingly, this sensor exhibits an extra-wide linear range of detection composed of two line segments (7-100 μM and 100-2913 μM), as well as a low detection limit (LOD) of 6.15 μM (S/N = 3) under optimal experimental conditions. Additionally, the sensor demonstrates exceptional selectivity, reproducibility and stability. More importantly, the proposed electrochemical sensor can effectively monitor nitrofurazone in real samples such as urea and tap water, and obtain ideal recoveries. The sensor has such excellent performance because of the synergistic effect of the two components in the Ce-MOF/g-C3N5 composite. Compared with Ce-MOF, the introduction of g-C3N5 effectively not only enhances the conductivity of Ce-MOF/g-C3N5 but also exposes more active sites, which is conducive to increasing the electrocatalytic activity to reduce nitrofurazone. This research contributes new scientific research ideas for fabricating ideal electrochemical sensors based on g-C3N5 and MOFs.

Abstract
Advances in polyoxometalate (POM) self-assembly chemistry are always accompanied by new developments in molecular blocks. The exploration and discovery of uncommon building blocks offer great possibilities for generating unprecedented POM clusters. An intriguing SbIII-WVI-cotemplated antimonotungstate [H2N(CH3)2]11Na[SbW9O33]Er2(H2O)2Sb2[SbWVIW15O57]·22H2O (1) was synthesized, which comprises a classical trivacant Keggin [SbW9O33]9- ({SbW9}) fragment and an unclassical lacunary Dawson-like [SbWVIW15O57]15- ({SbWVIW15}) subunit. Notably, the Dawson-like {SbWVIW15} subunit is the first example of a [SbO3]3- and [WVIO6]6- mixed-heteroatom-directing POM segment. Hexacoordinated [WVIO6]6- can not only serve as the heteroatom function but its additional oxygen sites can also link to lanthanide, main-group metal, and transition-metal centers to form the innovative structure. {SbWVIW15} and {SbW9} subunits are joined by the heterometallic [Er2(H2O)2Sb2O17]22- cluster to give rise to an asymmetric sandwich-type architecture. To further realize its potential application in electrochemical sensing, a conductive 1@rGO composite was obtained by the electrochemical deposition of 1 with graphene oxide (GO). Using a 1@rGO-modified glassy carbon electrode as the working electrode, an electrochemical biosensor for detecting the antidepressant drug paroxetine (PRX) was successfully constructed. This work can provide a viable strategy for synthesizing mixed-heteroatom-directing POMs and demonstrates the application of POM-based materials for the electrochemical detection of drug molecules.

Abstract
Food safety concerns caused by the application of spice allergens to fish anaesthesia. In this paper, a chitosan-reduced graphene oxide/polyoxometalates/poly-l-lysine (CS-rGO/P2Mo17Cu/PLL) modified electrode was constructed by electrodeposition and successfully applied to the quantitative analysis of eugenol (EU). The detection limit was 0.4490 μM in the linear range of 2x10-6 M to 1.4x10-5 M. It was applied to the determination of EU residues in kidney, liver and meat tissues of perch with recoveries ranging from 85.43 to 93.60%. Besides, the electrodes demonstrate high stability (2.56% drop in current value after 70 days at room temperature), high reproducibility (RSD of 4.87% for 6 parallel electrodes) and extremely fast response time. This study provided a new material for the electrochemical detection of EU.

Abstract
Two-dimensional metal-organic framework (MOF) composites were produced by incorporating Fe-MOFs into reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets to form Fe-MOF/rGO composites by hydrothermal synthesis. SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, and measurements of contact angles were used to characterize the composites. TEM studies revealed that the rod-like-shaped Fe-MOFs were extensively dispersed on the rGO sheets. Incorporating Fe-MOF into rGO significantly improves performance due to the large surface area, chemical stability, and high electrical conductivity. The response signals for the electrochemical sensing performance of Fe-MOF/rGO-modified electrodes to nitrofurazone (NFZ) were significantly enhanced. Differential pulse voltammetry was used to detect the NFZ, and the MOF/rGO sensor possesses a lower detection limit (0.77μM) with two dynamic ranges from 0.6-60 to 128-499.3 μM and high sensitivity (1.909 μA·mM-1·cm-2). Moreover, the anti-interference properties of the sensor were quite reproducible and stable. To understand the mechanism responsible for the enhanced sensing performance of the composite, grand canonical Monte Carlo calculations were performed for Fe-MOF/rGO composites with five unit cells of Fe-MOF and four layers of rGO. We attributed the improvement to the fact that the interface between the Fe-MOF and rGO absorbed increased NFZ molecules. The findings reported herein confirm that such Fe-MOF/rGO composites have significantly improved electrochemical performance and practical applicability of sensing nitrofurazone.

Abstract
In this work, a graphitic carbon nitride/gadolinium molybdate (g-C3N4/Gd2MoO6) composite manufactured glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was used to detect nitrofurazone (NFZ) at the trace level. A quick and inexpensive electrochemical sensor for NFZ analysis is described in this paper. The material structure and properties were determined by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The GCE/g-C3N4/Gd2MoO6 electrode was studied using cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. The electrocatalytic studies of the GCE/g-C3N4/Gd2MoO6 electrode showed significantly improved detection of NFZ. The electrocatalytic studies of the GCE/g-C3N4/Gd2MoO6 electrode was significantly improved for the detection of NFZ than bare GCE, GCE/g-C3N4, and GCE/Gd2MoO6 modified electrodes. The linear response and the detection limit of NFZ were 0.006 μM (S/N = 3) and 0.02-2000 μM, respectively. The electrode sensitivity was identified as 2.057 μA μM-1 cm-2 under ideal experimental conditions. The modified electrode was able to detect NFZ even when there were 500-fold as many interfering ions present. The practical applicability of the electrode was tested in a variety of water samples, with satisfactory results. Overall, the NFZ sensor demonstrated satisfactory repeatability, stability, and reproducibility. Meanwhile, it has proven to be a reliable, stable, and practical platform for the analysis of NFZ in various water samples, with acceptable recoveries.

Abstract
Nitrofurazone (NFZ) is carcinogenic and mutagenic to human in long-term ingestion, and it is prohibited to be added in food. In this work, a novel triphenylbenzene (TPB) functionalized fluorescent hybrid porous polymers (POSS@TPB) was constructed by using polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) as the rigid group and TPB as the core unit of high fluorescence. The morphology and physicochemical properties of POSS@TPB were characterized in detail. Moreover, the synergistic effect of inner filter effect and photoinduced electron transfer is verified by experimental and simulation results. After condition optimization, a NFZ analysis method based on POSS@TPB probe was established with a linear range of 0.4-16.5 mg/L and a detection limit of 0.13 mg/L. In addition, the fluorescent probe has good stability, anti-interference and considerable reusability. At the same time, the selective analysis of trace NFZ in aquatic product and cosmetics was carried out with satisfied recoveries of 87%-110.6% and relative standard deviation less than 4.1%. And the results were verified by high-performance liquid chromatography method. Overall, this fluorescence sensor has excellent performance in NFZ analysis, which provides a broad application prospect for the repeatable and selective residue NFZ analysis in aquatic product and cosmetics.

Abstract
Nitrofuran antibiotics have been widely used in the prevention and treatment of animal diseases due to the bactericidal effect. However, the residual and accumulation of their metabolites in vivo can pose serious health hazards to both humans and animals. Although their usage in feeding and process of food-derived animals have been banned in many countries, their metabolic residues are still frequently detected in materials and products of animal-derived food. Many sensitive and effective detection methods have been developed to deal with the problem. In this work, we summarized various immunological methods for the detection of four nitrofuran metabolites based on different types of detection principles and signal molecules. Furthermore, the development trend of detection technology in animal-derived food is prospected.
