Abstract
Reactions of SnX2 (X = Cl, Br) with [PtMe2(bipy)], 1, (bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine), followed by NaBH4 reduction at the toluene/water interface in the presence or absence of graphene oxide support rendered PtSn nanoalloy thin films. They were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The electrocatalytical activity of the PtSn thin films was investigated in the methanol oxidation reaction. Our studies showed that the PtSn/reduced-graphene oxide (RGO) thin film gave better catalytic results for MOR in comparison to bare PtSn or Pt thin films. A maximum jf/jb ratio (jf and jb are the maximum current densities in the forward and backward scans, respectively) of 6.77 was obtained for the PtSn/RGO thin film deriving from the 1 + SnBr2 + NaBH4 sequence.

Abstract
The photolysis of the allylplatinum(IV) complex [PtBr(C3H5)(4-MeC6H4)2(bipy)], 1, bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, in air yielded [{PtBr(4-MeC6H4)2(bipy)}2(μ-O2)], 2, the first diplatinum(IV) complex containing a single bridging peroxide ligand. The PtO-OPt bond distance in 2 is 1.481(3) Å. Complex 2 is thought to be formed by homolysis of the allyl-platinum bond of 1, followed by reaction of the platinum(III) intermediate [PtBr(4-MeC6H4)2(bipy)] with oxygen.

Abstract
The polyfluorinated title compounds, [MBr2(C18H16F8N2O2)] or [4,4'-(HCF2CF2CH2OCH2)2-2,2'-bpy]MBr2, (1) (M = Pd and bpy is bipyridine) and (2) (M = Pt), have -CH(α)2OCH(β)2CF2CF2H side chains with methylene H-atom donors at the α and β sites, and methine H-atom donors at the terminal sites, in addition to aromatic H-atom donors. In contrast to the original expectation of isomorphous structures, (1) crystallizes in the space group C2/c and (2) in P21/n, with similar unit-cell volumes and Z = 4. The asymmetric unit of (1) is one half of the molecule, which resides on a crystallographic twofold axis. Both (1) and (2) display stacking of the molecules, indicating a planar (bpy)MBr2 skeleton in each case. The structure of (1) exhibits columns with C-H(β)...Br hydrogen bonds between consecutive layers which conforms to a static (β,β) linkage between layers. In the molecular plane, (1) shows double C-H(α)...Br hydrogen bonds self-repeating along the b axis, the planar molecules being connected into infinite belts. Compound (2) has no crystallographic symmetry and forms π-dimer pairs as supermolecules, which then stack parallel to the a axis. The π-dimer-pair supermolecules exhibit (Pt-)Br...Br(-Pt) contacts [3.6937 (7) Å] to neighbouring π-dimer pairs crosslinking the columns. The structure of (2) reveals many C-H...F(-C) interactions between F atoms and aromatic C-H groups, in addition to those between F atoms and methylene C-H groups.

Abstract
A new Pt(II) complex, [Pt(DIP)(LL)](NO3)2 (in which DIP is 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline and LL is the aliphatic dinitrogen ligand, N,N-dimethyl-trimethylenediamine), was synthesized and characterized using different physico-chemical methods. The interaction of this complex with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) was investigated by absorption, emission, circular dichroism (CD), and viscosity measurements.
The complex binds to CT-DNA in an intercalative mode. The calculated binding constant, Kb, was 6.6 × 104 M−1. The enthalpy and entropy changes of the reaction between the complex and CT-DNA showed that the van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonds are the main forces in the interaction with CT-DNA. In addition, CD study showed that phenanthroline ligand insert between the base pair stack of double helical structure of DNA. It is remarkable that this complex has the ability to cleave the supercoiled plasmid.

(1)H, (13)C, (195)Pt and (15)N NMR studies of platinide(II) (M = Pd, Pt) chloride complexes with such alkyl and aryl derivatives of 2,2'-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline as LL = 6,6'-dimethyl-bpy, 5,5'-dimethyl-bpy, 4,4'-di-tert-butyl-bpy, 2,9-dimethyl-phen, 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-phen, 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-phen, having the general [M(LL)Cl(2)] formula were performed and the respective chemical shifts (δ(1H), δ(13C), δ(195Pt), δ(15N)) reported. (1)H high-frequency coordination shifts (Δ(coord)(1H) = δ(complex)(1H)-δ(ligand)(1H)) mostly pronounced for nitrogen-adjacent protons and methyl groups in the nearest adjacency of nitrogen, as well as (15)N low-frequency coordination shifts (Δ(coord)(15H) = δ(complex)(15H)-δ(ligand)(15H)) were discussed in relation to the molecular structures.

Abstract
Synchrotron data have been used to determine the structures of the yellow polymorph of dichlorido(2,2′-bipyridine)platinum(ii) (1), and diiodido(2,2′-bipyridine)palladium(ii) (2), allowing a detailed comparison of the crystal chemistry of [MX2(bipy)] (M = Pd, Pt; X = Cl, Br, I), which exhibit polymorphism involving nine structures distributed over five space groups. Complex 1 crystallizes in space group Pbca (a = 18.2540(7), b = 15.6970(7), c = 7.3560(6) Å), and 2 in space group C2/c (a = 17.149(1), b = 9.8050(8), c = 7.548(1) Å, β = 110.72(1) °).

Abstract
In the title compound, [PdCl2(C10H8N2)]·CH2Cl2, the Pd2+ ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the 2,2′-bipyridine (bipy) ligand and two chloride ions. The compound displays intramolecular C—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and pairs of complex molecules are connected by intermolecular C—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Intermolecular π–π interactions are present between the pyridine rings of the ligand, the shortest centroid–centroid distance being 4.096 (3) Å. As a result of the electronic nature of the chelate ring, it is possible to create π–π interactions to its symmetry-related counterpart [3.720 (2) Å] and also with a pyridine ring [3.570 (3) Å] of the bipy unit. In the new structure refinement all H atoms were located in a difference Fourier synthesis. Their coordinates were refined freely, together with isotropic displacement parameters.
