Thermal decomposition of the novel heterometallic complex [RuNO(NO2)4OHNi(En)2] results in a single-phase metastable solid solution Ni0.5Ru0.5. The catalytic activity of the prepared nanoalloy in the CO methanation reaction was demonstrated.

Complex salts of Pd(ii) and Pt(ii) with Co(ii) and Ni(ii) aqua-cations as single-source precursors for bimetallic nanoalloys and mixed oxides

New inorganic compounds [M′(H₂O)₆][M′′(NO₂)₄]·2H₂O (M′ = Ni, Co; M′′ = Pd, Pt) have been synthesized and used as single-source precursors for bimetallic nanoalloys.

Crystal structure and thermal behavior of isostructural binary complexes [Rh(en)3][Fe(CN)6] and [Rh(en)3][Cо(CN)6]

Binary complex compounds (BCC) [Rh(en)3][Fe(CN)6]·2H2O (I) and [Rh(en)3][Co(CN)6]·2H2O (II) have been prepared and characterized by the X-ray diffraction, crystal optic, elemental and thermal analyses. The crystal structures I and II (space group P21/n) are described within the monoclinic crystal system, are insular and isostructural. The thermal behavior of BCC I and II is identical, with an exception of a higher temperature (~by 50°C) of II decomposition. In air atmosphere, the ligand removal is followed by the formation of, respectively, Rh+1/2Fe2O3 and Rh+Co that on further heating up to 1000°C convert into RhFeO3 and RhCoO1.5. The residues of annealing at 1000°C in argon atmosphere are Rh+1/2Fe2O3 and Rh+CoO, respectively.

Selective synthesis of cis- and trans-[(NHCMe)2PtCl2] and [NHCMePt(cod)Cl][NHCMePtCl3] using NHCMeSiCl4

NHC^MeSiCl₄ was used to selectively synthesise cis and trans-[(NHC^Me)₂PtCl₂], as well as [NHC^MePt(cod)Cl][NHC^MePtCl₃], which revealed the first ever N-heterocyclic carbene analogue of the Cossa's salt anion.

In situ synchrotron study of Au-Pd nanoporous alloy formation by single-source precursor thermolysis

We have successfully prepared a face-centered cubic Au-Pd nanoporous structure (NPS) in a one-pot reaction under thermal decomposition of single-source precursor [Pd(NH(3))(4)][AuCl(4)](2). The precursor employed contains both desired metals 'mixed' on the molecular level, thus providing its significant advantages for obtaining alloys. The observation using a high-resolution transmission electron microscope has shown that the nanostructure was composed of interconnected polycrystalline ligaments with an average diameter of 14 ± 3 nm. The measurements made by energy-dispersive x-ray analysis and powder x-ray diffraction (XRD) confirm that the nanostructure consists of Au(0.67)Pd(0.33) alloy. In situ real-time synchrotron XRD was used to study the formation mechanism for Au-Pd alloy NPS. We provide the correlation of control parameters (such as temperature, rate of increase of temperature and gas atmosphere) with the microstructure and phase behavior of bimetallic products. Under reducing conditions (H(2) atmosphere) the first step is the formation of alloy nanowires. Finally, bimetallic alloy 3D nanostructure is formed after the complete decomposition of the precursor (100 °C).
