Crystal structure of cis-(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4 N)bis-(thio-cyanato-κN)chromium(III) bromide from synchrotron X-ray diffraction data

The crystal structure of the title complex, cis-[Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]Br (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, C10H24N4), has been determined from synchrotron X-ray data. The asymmetric unit contains one [Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]+ cation and one bromide anion. The CrIII ion of the complex cation is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam ligand and by two N-coordinating NCS groups in a cis arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.075 (3) to 2.081 (3) Å while the average Cr-N(NCS) bond length is 1.996 (16) Å. The macrocyclic cyclam moiety adopts the most stable cis-V conformation. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the cyclam N-H groups as donor groups, and the bromide anion and the S atom of one of the NCS ligands as acceptor groups.

Crystal structure of trans-di-chlorido-(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4 N)chromium(III) bis-(form-amide-κO)(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4 N)chromium(III) bis-[tetra-chlorido-zincate(II)]

The structure of the title compound, [CrCl2(C10H24N4)][Cr(HCONH2)2(C10H24N4)][ZnCl4]2 (C10H24N4 = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, cyclam; HCONH2 = formamide, fa), has been determined from synchrotron X-ray data. The asymmetric unit contains two independent halves of the [CrCl2(cyclam)]+ and [Cr(fa)(cyclam)]3+ cations, and one tetra-chlorido-zincate anion. In each complex cation, the CrIII ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam ligand in the equatorial plane and two Cl ligands or two O-bonded formamide mol-ecules in a trans axial arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral geometry with crystallographic inversion symmetry. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.061 (2) to 2.074 (2) Å, while the Cr-Cl and Cr-O(fa) bond distances are 2.3194 (7) and 1.9953 (19) Å, respectively. The macrocyclic cyclam moieties adopt the centrosymmetric trans-III conformation with six- and five-membered chelate rings in chair and gauche conformations. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the NH or CH groups of cyclam and the NH2 group of coordinated formamide as donors, and Cl atoms of the ZnCl4 2- anion as acceptors.

Crystal structure of 1,4,8,11-tetra-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azonia-cyclo-tetra-decane bis-(perchlorate) dichloride from synchrotron X-ray data

The crystal structure of title salt, C14H36N4 4+·2ClO4 -·2Cl-, has been determined using synchrotron radiation at 220 K. The structure determination reveals that protonation has occurred at all four amine N atoms. The asymmetric unit contains one half-cation (completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry), one perchlorate anion and one chloride anion. A distortion of the perchlorate anion is due to its involvement in hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with the cations. The crystal structure is consolidated by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the 1,4,8,11-tetra-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azonia-cyclo-tetra-decane N-H and C-H groups as donor groups, and the O atoms of the perchlorate and chloride anion as acceptor groups, giving rise to a three-dimensional network.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure, Spectroscopic Properties, and Hirshfeld Surface Analysis of Diaqua [3,14-dimethyl-2,6,13,17 tetraazatricyclo(16.4.0.07,12)docosane]copper(II) Dibromide

A newly prepared Cu(II) complex salt, Cu(L1)(H2O)2Br2, where L1 is 3,14-dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetraazatricyclo(16.4.0.07,12) docosane, is characterized by elemental and crystallographic analyses. The Cu(II) center is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms of macrocyclic ligand and the axial position by two water molecules. The macrocyclic ligand adopts an optimally stable trans-III conformation with normal Cu–N bond lengths of 2.018 (3) and 2.049 (3) Å and long axial Cu1–O1W length of 2.632 (3) Å due to the Jahn–Teller effect. The complex is stabilized by hydrogen bonds formed between the O atoms of water molecules and bromide anions. The bromide anion is connected to the neighboring complex cations and water molecules through N–H···Br and O–H···Br hydrogen bonds, respectively. The g-factors obtained from the electron spin resonance spectrum show the typical trend of g∥ > g⊥ > 2.0023, which is in a good accordance to the dx2-y2 ground state. It reveals a coordination sphere of tetragonal symmetry for the Cu(II) ion. The infrared and electronic absorption spectral properties of the complex are also discussed. Hirshfeld surface analysis represents that the H···H, H···Br/Br···H and H···O/O···H contacts are the major molecular interactions in the prepared complex.

Bis(imino)pyridylcobalt dichlorides displayed high activities for ethylene polymerization, producing highly linear PEs with the vinyl end group as the major one.

Crystal structure of [2,13-bis-(acetamido)-5,16-dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetra-aza-tri-cyclo-[16.4.0.07,12]docosane-κ4N]silver(II) dinitrate from synchrotron X-ray data

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ag(C24H46N6O2)](NO3)2 [C24H46N6O2 is (5,16-dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetra-aza-tri-cyclo-[16.4.0.07,12]docosane-2,13-di-yl)diacetamide, L], consists of one independent half of the [Ag(C24H46N6O2)]2+ cation and one nitrate anion. The Ag atom, lying on an inversion centre, has a square-planar geometry and the complex adopts a stable trans-III conformation. Inter-estingly, the two O atoms of the pendant acetamide groups are not coordinated to the AgII ion. The longer distance of 2.227 (2) Å for Ag-N(tertiary) compared to 2.134 (2) Å for Ag-N(secondary) may be due to the effects of the attached acetamide group on the tertiary N atom. Two nitrate anions are very weakly bound to the AgII ion in the axial sites and are further connected to the ligand of the cation by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal packing is stabilized by hydrogen-bonding inter-actions among the N-H donor groups of the macrocycle and its actetamide substituents, and the O atoms of the nitrate anions and of an acetamide group as the acceptor atoms.

Crystal structure of 1,4,8,11-tetra-azonia-cyclo-tetra-decane bis-(dichromate) monohydrate from synchrotron data

The asymmetric unit of the hydrated title salt, (C10H28N4)[Cr2O7]2·H2O [C10H28N4 = H4(cyclam) = 1,4,8,11-tetra-azonia-cyclo-tetra-deca-ne], contains two half-cations (both completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry), two dichromate anions and one water mol-ecule. The two [CrO7]2- anions exhibit a nearly staggered conformation, with bridging angles of 133.37 (11) and 136.28 (12)°. The distortions of the dichromate anions are due to their participation in hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with the water mol-ecule and the cations. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the cyclam N-H groups and water O-H groups as donor groups, and the O atoms of the dichromate anions as acceptor groups give rise to a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of bis-[(oxalato-κ2O1,O2)(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4N)chromium(III)] dichromate octa-hydrate from synchrotron X-ray data

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cr(C2O4)(C10H24N4)]2[Cr2O7]·8H2O (C10H24N4 = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, cyclam; C2O4 = oxalate, ox) contains one [Cr(ox)(cyclam)]+ cation, one half of a dichromate anion that lies about an inversion centre so that the bridging O atom is equally disordered over two positions, and four water mol-ecules. The terminal O atoms of the dichromate anion are also disordered over two positions with a refined occupancy ratio 0.586 (6):0.414 (6). The CrIII ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam ligand and one bidentate oxalato ligand in a cis arrangement, resulting in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.069 (2)-2.086 (2) Å, while the average Cr-O(ox) bond length is 1.936 Å. The macrocyclic cyclam moiety adopts the cis-V conformation. The dichromate anion has a staggered conformation. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the cyclam N-H groups and water O-H groups as donors, and the O atoms of oxalate ligand, water mol-ecules and the Cr2O72- anion as acceptors, giving rise to a three-dimensional network.

The structure of the complex salt, cis-[Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]2[Cr2O7]·H2O (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, C10H24N4), has been determined from synchrotron data. The asymmetric unit comprises of one [Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]+ cation, one half of a Cr2O72- anion (completed by inversion symmetry) and one half of a water mol-ecule (completed by twofold rotation symmetry). The CrIII ion is coordinated by the four cyclam N atoms and by two N atoms of cis-arranged thio-cyanate anions, displaying a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.080 (2) to 2.097 (2) Å while the average Cr-N(NCS) bond length is 1.985 (4) Å. The macrocyclic cyclam moiety adopts the cis-V conformation. The bridging O atom of the dichromate anion is disordered around an inversion centre, leading to a bending of the Cr-O-Cr bridging angle [157.7 (3)°]; the anion has a staggered conformation. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the cyclam N-H groups and water O-H groups as donor groups, and the O atoms of the Cr2O72- anion and water mol-ecules as acceptor groups, giving rise to a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of cis-di-chlorido-(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4N)chromium(III) (oxalato-κ2O1,O2)(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4N)chromium(III) bis(perchlorate) from synchrotron data

In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CrCl2(C10H24N4)][Cr(C2O4)(C10H24N4)](ClO4)2 (C10H24N4 = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, cyclam; C2O4 = oxalate, ox), there are two independent halves of the [CrCl2(cyclam)]+ and [Cr(ox)(cyclam)]+ cations, and one perchlorate anion. In the complex cations, which are completed by application of twofold rotation symmetry, the CrIII ions are coordinated by the four N atoms of a cyclam ligand, and by two chloride ions or one oxalate bidentate ligand in a cis arrangement, displaying an overall distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range of 2.075 (5) to 2.096 (4) Å while the Cr-Cl and Cr-O(ox) bond lengths are 2.3358 (14) and 1.956 (4) Å, respectively. Both cyclam moieties adopt the cis-V conformation. The slightly distorted tetra-hedral ClO4- anion remains outside the coordination sphere. The supra-molecular architecture includes N-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between cyclam NH donor groups, O atoms of the oxalate ligand or ClO4- anions and one Cl ligand as acceptors, leading to a three-dimensional network structure.

Crystal structure of trans-diammine(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ(4) N)chromium(III) tetra-chlorido-zincate chloride monohydrate from synchrotron data

The asymmetric unit of the title complex salt, [Cr(C10H24N4)(NH3)2][ZnCl4]Cl·H2O, is comprised of four halves of the Cr(III) complex cations (the counterparts being generated by application of inversion symmetry), two tetra-chlorido-zincate anions, two chloride anions and two water mol-ecules. Each Cr(III) ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam (1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-deca-ne) ligand in the equatorial plane and by two N atoms of ammine ligands in axial positions, displaying an overall distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths range from 2.0501 (15) to 2.0615 (15) Å, while the Cr-(NH3) bond lengths range from 2.0976 (13) to 2.1062 (13) Å. The macrocyclic cyclam moieties adopt the trans-III conformation with six- and five-membered chelate rings in chair and gauche conformations. The [ZnCl4](2-) anions have a slightly distorted tetra-hedral shape. In the crystal, the Cl(-) anions link the complex cations, as well as the solvent water mol-ecules, through N-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The supra-molecular set-up also includes N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between N-H or C-H groups of cyclam, ammine N-H and water O-H donor groups, and O atoms of the water mol-ecules, Cl(-) anions or Cl atoms of the [ZnCl4](2-) anions as acceptors, leading to a three-dimensional network structure.

Crystal structure of hexa-kis-(urea-κO)chromium(III) dichromate bromide monohydrate from synchrotron X-ray data

The title bromide salt, [Cr{CO(NH2)2}6](Cr2O7)Br·H2O, is isotypic to the corresponding chloride salt. Within the complex cation, the Cr(III) atom is coordinated by six O atoms of six urea ligands, displaying a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cr-O bond lengths involving the urea ligands are in the range 1.9534 (13)-1.9776 (12) Å. The Cr2O7 (2-) anion has a nearly staggered conformation, with a bridging angle of 130.26 (10)°. The individual components are arranged in rows extending parallel to [100]. The Br(-) anion links the complex cation, as well as the solvent water mol-ecule, through N-H⋯Br and O-H⋯Br hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The supra-molecular architecture also includes N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between urea N-H and water O-H donor groups and the O atoms of the Cr2O7 (2-) anion as acceptor atoms, leading to a three-dimensional network structure.

Crystal structure of cis-aqua-chlorido-(rac-5,5,7,12,12,14-hexa-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ(4) N)chromium(III) tetra-chlorido-zincate trihydrate from synchrotron data

The structure of the title compound, cis-[CrCl(cycb)(H2O)][ZnCl4]·3H2O (cycb is rac-5,5,7,12,12,14-hexa-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane; C16H36N4), has been determined from synchrotron data. In the complex cation, the Cr(III) ion is bound by four N atoms from the tetra-dentate cycb ligand, a chloride ion and one water mol-ecule in a cis arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The distorted tetra-hedral [ZnCl4](2-) anion and three additional water mol-ecules remain outside the coordination sphere. The Cr-N(cycb) bond lengths are in the range of 2.0837 (14) to 2.1399 (12) Å while the Cr-Cl and Cr-(OH2) bond lengths are 2.2940 (8) and 2.0082 (13) Å, respectively. The crystal packing is stabilized by hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the N-H groups of the macrocyclic ligand, the O-H groups of the water mol-ecules and the Cl atoms of the tetra-chlorido-zincate anion, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

The structure of the title compound, [Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]2[ZnCl4] (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, C10H24N4), has been determined from synchrotron data. The asymmetric unit contains two independent halves of the Cr(III) complex cations and half of a tetra-chlorido-zincate anion. In each complex cation, the Cr(III) atom is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam ligand in the equatorial plane and by two N-bound NCS(-) anions in a trans axial arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral geometry with crystallographic inversion symmetry. The mean Cr-N(cyclam) and Cr-N(NCS) bond lengths are 2.065 (4) and 1.995 (6) Å, respectively. The macrocyclic cyclam moieties adopt centrosymmetric trans-III configurations with six- and five-membered chelate rings in chair and gauche configurations, respectively. The [ZnCl4](2-) anion, which lies about a twofold rotation axis, has a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The crystal packing is stabilized by hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the N-H groups of the cyclam ligands, the S atoms of the NCS(-) groups and the Cl(-) ligands of the anion.

Synthesis, conformational structure and spectroscopic properties of trans-diazidobis(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine)chromium(III) perchlorate

A new complex trans-anti-[Cr(Me2tn)2(N3)2]ClO4·2H2O, where Me2tn=2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine was synthesized and characterized, and its molecular structure was established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 95K. The complex crystallized in the space group C2/c of the monoclinic system with four mononuclear formula units in a cell of dimensions a=16.600 (3), b=7.709 (2), c=16.865 (3)Å, and β=99.07 (3)°. The chromium(III) atom was in a distorted octahedral coordination with four N atoms of two chelating Me2tn ligands and two N atoms of the azido group in the trans axial position. The two six-membered rings in the complex adopted only anti chair-chair conformations with respect to each other The important bond lengths are CrN(azide) 2.007 (2), CrN(Me2tn) 2.081 (2), 2.082 (2), NN(azide) 1.184 (2) and 1.156 (2)Å, respectively. The crystal lattice is stabilized by hydrogen bonding interactions among the ClO4(-), hydrate molecule, N3(-), and NH groups of the Me2tn ligand. The ligand field analysis as well as the IR and electronic spectral properties were described.

Crystal structure of cis-aqua-chlorido-bis-(1,10-phenanthroline-κ(2) N,N')chromium(III) tetra-chlorido-zincate monohydrate from synchrotron data

The structure of the title compound, [CrCl(C12H8N2)2(H2O)][ZnCl4]·H2O, has been determined from synchrotron data. The Cr(III) ion is bonded to four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, one water mol-ecule and a Cl atom in a cis arrangement, displaying an overall distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cr-N(phen) bond lengths are in the range of 2.0495 (18) to 2.0831 (18) Å, while the Cr-Cl and Cr-(OH2) bond lengths are 2.2734 (7) and 1.9986 (17) Å, respectively. The tetra-hedral [ZnCl4](2-) anion is slightly distorted owing to its involvement in O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding with coordinating and non-coordinating water mol-ecules. The two types of water mol-ecules also inter-act through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The observed hydrogen-bonding pattern leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure.

X-ray structure and spectroscopy of novel trans-[Ni(L)(NO(3))(2)] and [Ni(L)](ClO(4))(2)·2H(2)O complexes

Ni(L)(NO(3))(2) (complex 1) and [Ni(L)](ClO(4))(2)·2H(2)O (complex 2) [L=3,14-diethyl-2,6,13,17-tetraazatricyclo(16.4.0.0(7,12))docosane] have been prepared and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 200K. For these constrained macrocycle complexes, nickel(II) exists in a distorted octahedral environment with the four nitrogen atoms of the macrocyclic ligands and two oxygen atoms from nitrate in axial positions in complex 1. The macrocyclic ligand in complex 1 adopts the most stable trans-III conformation. The Ni-N distances in both the complex 1 (2.094(4)-2.051(4)Å) and complex 2 (2.042(8)-1.996(7)Å), are typical but the axial ligands are coordinating, with NiO bond length, 2.198(3)Å for complex 1. The complex 2 adopts square planner geometry around the Ni(II) with four nitrogen atoms from macrocyclic ligand. The crystals are stabilized in a 3-D network by intra and intermolecular hydrogen bonds that are formed among the secondary nitrogen hydrogen atoms and nitrate in 1, and intermolecular hydrogen bonds are formed by perchlorate and NH groups in 2. The electronic absorption, IR and PL spectral properties are also discussed.

cis-(1,4,8,11-Tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κN (4))bis(-thio-cyanato-κN)chromium(III) thio-cyanate

The crystal structure of [Cr(NCS)₂(cyclam)]NCS (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetra­aza­cyclo­tetra­deca­ne, C₁₀H₂₄N₄) has been determined by using synchrotron radiation at 98 K. The Cr^III atom is in a slightly distorted octa­hedral environment with four N atoms of the macrocyclic ligand and two N-coordinated NCS⁻ anions in cis positions. The average Cr—N(cyclam) and Cr—NCS bond lengths are 2.085 (5) and 1.996 (15) Å, respectively. In the crystal, the uncoordinating SCN⁻ anion is hydrogen bonded through N—H⋯S and N—H⋯N inter­actions to neighbouring complex cations.

Zinc(II) complexes of constrained antiviral macrocycles

The configurations of metallocyclams are of interest in relation to protein recognition and anti-HIV activity. We have synthesised four novel zinc(II) complexes with hexyl-Me(2)-cyclam (HMC; 3,14-dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetraazatricyclo(16.4.0.0(7,12))docosane), 1, and naphthyl-hexyl-Me(2)-cyclam (NHMC; 2,13-bis(1-naphthylmethyl)-5,16-dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetraazatricyclo(16.4.0.0(7,12))docosane), 2, as ligands. X-ray crystallographic data for Zn(II)-HMC diacetate, 3 show that zinc is six-coordinate in a distorted octahedral environment bound to four equatorial N atoms from the macrocycle and two axial acetato O atoms. The 14-membered metallo-macrocycle adopts a trans-III (RRSS) configuration with two six-membered rings in chair forms and two five-membered rings in gauche forms. In the chlorido Zn(II)-HMC complex 5, zinc appears to be 5-coordinate with square-pyramidal geometry. Interestingly, the chlorido Zn(II)-NHMC complex 6 crystallised in a trans-I configuration containing 4-coordinate tetrahedral zinc bound to three cyclam ring N atoms, a possible model for intermediates formed during the uptake and release of metals by cyclams. The ligand 1 and the zinc complex 3 were active towards viral strains HIV-1 (III(B)) (IC(50) values of 10.51 ± 0.23 and 3.50 ± 0.33 μM, respectively), and HIV-2 (ROD) (IC(50) values of 133.78 ± 14.10 and >110.67 μM, respectively). 2D [(1)H, (13)C] and [(1)H, (15)N] NMR spectroscopic studies suggested that the types of configurational isomers present in solution depend on the axial ligand.
