Abstract
Near-infrared (NIR) emissive metal complexes have shown potential applications in optical communication, chemosensors, bioimaging, and laser and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) due to their structural tunability and luminescence stability. Among them, complexes with bridging ligands that exhibit unique emission behavior have attracted extensive interests in recent years. The target performance can be easily achieved by NIR light-emitting metal complexes with bridging ligands through molecular structure design. In this review, the luminescence mechanism and design strategies of NIR luminescent metal complexes with bridging ligands are described firstly, and then summarize the recent advance of NIR luminescent metal complexes with bridging ligands in the fields of electroluminescence and biosensing/bioimaging. Finally, the development trend of NIR luminescent metal complexes with bridging ligands are proposed, which shows an attractive prospect in the field of photophysical and photochemical materials.

Abstract
The polytopic Schiff base 5-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid 2-(hydroxyimino-1-methyl-propylidene)-hydrazide (H2L)was synthesized by the condensation of 5-methyl pyrazole-3-carbohydrazide and 3-(hydroxyimino)butan-2-one and its coordination ability was tested against cobalt (II) and nickel (II) nitrates. The ligand exhibited two different binding modes to form a unique binuclear triply bridged Co(III) cationic complex [Co2(1κN2:2κN2-L) (1κN3:2κO1-HL)2](NO3)2 (1). With the Ni(II) precursor, H2L was hydrolyzed to N′,N˝-butane-2,3-diylidenebis (5-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carbohydrazide) (H2L1) which bound the metal cation in a tetradentate N3O1 fashion leading to the neutral square planar complex [Ni(κN3O1-L1)]·MeOH (2·MeOH). Complexes 1 and 2 were characterized by IR, NMR, UV-Vis and single crystal X-ray crystallography. The probable mechanism for the Ni(II) mediated transformation of H2L into H2L1 has been investigated by ESI-MS.

Abstract
New mixed Fe(III) and Zn(II) complexes with isonitrosoacetophenone (HINAP) and l-amino acids (such as l-histidine, l-phenylalanine and l-proline) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, UV-Vis, IR and ESR spectroscopy and thermal analyses. The values of molar conductance of the complexes in DMSO solution at 10-3 M concentration indicate their non-electrolyte nature. IR spectroscopy has revealed the coordination of deprotonated ligands to metal through nitrogen and oxygen atoms in an N2O2 arrangement. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed using the hybrid functional of Truhlar and Zhao (M06) with basis set of double zeta quality LANL2DZ to evaluate the cis and trans coordination modes and to ascertain dipole moment, HOMO-LUMO energy gap, chemical hardness, softness and electrophilicity. The magnetic moments and ESR measurements suggest that there is an admixture of S = 5/2 and S = 1/2 spins in Fe(III) complexes. UV-Visible spectra indicate a distorted octahedral geometry around the metal ions. Thermal analyses show the presence of hydrated and coordinated water. The antimicrobial activity was investigated against (G+ and G-) bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and fungi (Candida albicans). The iron and zinc complexes were found to be more active against Gram-positive than Gram negative bacteria. They also show considerable growth inhibition against the fungi tested. In vitro antitumor activity assayed against cancer cell lines of the HEP2 type (cancer cells of the larynx) exhibited significant toxicity of the ligands and their mixed complexes.
