Synthesis, structure and character of three new Strandberg type molybdophenylphosphonates

2D Windmill-like Ln-Containing Organophosphonate-Based Polyoxomolybdates: Synthesis, Characterization, Fluorescence, and Magnetism

By integration of {Ln(H₂O)₆}³⁺ into organophosphonate-based polyoxometalates, three Ln-containing organophosphonate-functionalized polyoxomolybdates Na_1.5H_1.5[{Ln(H₂O)₆}₂{(Mo₃O₈)(O₃PC(C₃H₆NH₃)OPO₃)}₄]·(CH₃CO₂)·43H₂O (Ln = Eu (1), Tb (2), and Dy (3)) are successfully prepared and systematically characterized. The X-ray crystallography analyses display complexes 1-3 crystallize in the C2/c space group of the monoclinic system and compose several distinctive tetramer windmill-like compounds that further assemble into two-dimensional (2D) frameworks associated with the {Ln(H₂O)₆}³⁺ core. The fluorescence spectra of 1-3 show red, green, and chartreuse emissions, respectively, originating in the typical f-f transitions of Ln³⁺ ions. More interestingly, complex 3 shows the field-induced single-molecule magnet (SMM) properties, resulting from the fact that [(Mo₃O₈)₄{O₃PC(C₃H₆NH₃)OPO₃}₄]^8- offers excellent magnetic isolation for Dy³⁺ ions by the nearest Dy1···Dy2 distance of 11.207 Å. The study demonstrates that the incorporation of {Ln(H₂O)₆}³⁺ into organophosphonate-based polyoxomolybdates is an effective synthetic strategy in implementing late-model opto-magnetic materials.

Study on the source of magnetic properties of three novel boratopolyoxovanadates via two-dimensional infrared correlation spectroscopy

Three novel polyoxovanadoborates namely [V₁₂B₁₈O₄₆(OH)₁₄(H₂O)_0.75]·20.5H₂O 1, Na₂[V₁₂B₁₈O₄₈(OH)₁₂(H₂O)_0.5]·26.5H₂O 2 and Cd_0.5{[Na(H₂O)₂]2[Na(H₂O)]₂[Na(H₂O)₃]2V₁₂B₁₈O₅₃(OH)₇(H₂O)_0.5}·11H₂O 3 have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The boratopolyoxovanadate cage [V₁₂B₁₈O₆₀] backbones in 1-3 are constructed by the combination of two hexameric oxovanadate units [V₆O₉] and one puckered [B₁₈O₄₂] ring via sharing O atoms. All three compounds were obtained under alkaline conditions, and the cluster anions were all [V₁₂B₁₈O₆₀]. But the cations were different, it is inferred that the protonation of the three compound cluster ions is different, respectively [V₁₂B₁₈O₄₆(OH)₁₄(H₂O)_0.75] in 1, [V₁₂B₁₈O₄₈(OH)₁₂(H₂O)_0.5]^2- in 2 and [V₁₂B₁₈O₅₃(OH)₇(H₂O)_0.5]^7- in 3. The V oxidation states ratio of V^IV to V^V were 2:1 confirmed by valence bond calculation and XPS. We studied the magnetic properties of three compounds by two methods: The variable temperature magnetic susceptibility and the 2D IR COS under magnetic perturbation. From the 2D IR COS under magnetic perturbation map, it is showed that all three: (1) the presence of V^IV. (2) Certain quasi-aromaticity from B₃O₃ six-membered ring. (3) The difference of protonation and the charge of the cluster anions. This work enriches the theory of two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy and also provides a new approach to the study of magnetic materials.

Structure, optical and magnetic properties of a novel homometallic coordination polymers: Experimental and Computational studies

Single crystal of 1D homometallic coordination polymer involving cobalt metal ion and P₂Mo₅ Strandberg type polyoxometallate cluster (C₆H₁₀N₂)₂[Co(H₂O)₄P₂Mo₅O₂₃].6H₂O, is prepared in aqueous solution and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis diffuse reflectance, fluorescence and magnetism. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that this compound crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$\,\bar{1}$$\end{document}1¯. The 3-(ammoniomethyl)pyridine C₆H₈N₂ organic fragment is used merely as stabilizer for the promotion of topological structure. DRS data indicate that the synthesized material can be identified as a ferromagnetic semiconductor with optical bands gaps energy of 1.81 and 2.74 eV, respectively. The large value of refractive index observed in the visible region make the simple a promising candidate for visible optical communication devices and fluorescent emisson result provides that the complex belongs to a blue luminescent compounds. Moreover, magnetic measurements and electronic structure calculations show that P₂Mo₅ Strandberg polyoxoanion can be reported as a new class of ligand that is candidate to construct metal-inorganic framworks with long distance ferromagnetic superechange between Co(II) centers. The evidence from this study suggests that the syntesized polymer can become a great multifunctional material openning the door for the developpement of new coordination polymers based on Strandberg type polyxoxmetalate with potential applications.

Two novel Dawson-like tungstoantimonates with difunctional photocatalytic and magnetic properties

Two novel inorganic-organic hybrids containing the pyramidal SbO₃ group in Dawson-like POMs based on an organic ligand with different coordination modes, namely {Ni(phen)₃}₃[SbW₁₈O₆₀]·(H₃O)₃·7H₂O (1) and [Cu^I(phen)(H₂O)₃]{[Cu(phen)₂(H₂O)₂]₂[SbW₁₈O₆₀]}·2H₂O (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized. The catalytic property of compound 1 was studied as the first case for an {M₁₈} cluster containing the pyramidal SbO₃ group. Remarkably, compound 1 has excellent photocatalytic activity for RhB degradation and the probable mechanism of degradation was discussed. Additionally, the 2D-IR correlation spectra (2D-IR COS) under magnetic perturbation were recorded to analyze the magnetic properties of compound 1. The 2D-IR COS under thermo perturbation were recorded to verify the presence of H-bonding interactions.

Synthesis and adsorption properties of [Cu(L)2(H2O)]H2[Cu(L)2(P2Mo5O23)]·4H2O/Fe3O4 nanocomposites

Multifunctional [Cu(L)₂(H₂O)]H₂[Cu(L)₂(P₂Mo₅O₂₃)]·4H₂O/Fe₃O₄ (HL = pyridine-2-carboxamide) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by combining [Cu(L)₂(H₂O)]H₂[Cu(L)₂(P₂Mo₅O₂₃)]·4H₂O and Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles.

Syntheses and characterization of phosphonates and diphosphonates of molybdenum, A4[(MoO3)5(O3PR)2]·xH2O, A2[Mo2O5(O3PR)2] and A2[Mo2O5(O3P-R-PO3)] (A = K, Rb, Cs, Tl, NH4)

Cs₄[(MoO₃)₅(O₃PPh)₂]·6H₂O and K_1.5(H₃O)_0.5[Mo₂O₅(O₃PPh)₂] are molecular and non-molecular phenylphosphonates of molybdenum that contain discrete [(MoO₃)₅(O₃PPh)₂]⁴⁻ and layered [Mo₂O₅(O₃PPh)₂]²⁻ anions respectively.
