Abstract
In order to improve the efficacy of photochemical properties for photodynamic therapy (PDT) applications, carboxylic acid groups axially conjugated with silicon(IV) and at the peripheral position with zinc(II) phthalocyanine skeletons for new photosensitizers to investigate the influence of the COOH group positions on the photophysicochemical performance are described in this study. Silicon (IV) (3 and 5) and zinc (II) (7) phthalocyanines were characterized by UV-vis, FTIR, 1H-NMR, MALDI-TOF MS and elemental analysis spectral data. Furthermore, the photophysical (fluorescence quantum yields and fluorescence quenching studies), photochemical (photodegradation and singlet oxygen generation) and aggregation properties of the newly synthesized phthalocyanines were investigated in dimethylformamide (DMF) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solutions. The results were compared with that of zinc and silicon phthalocyanines. Singlet oxygen quantum yields ranged from 0.23 to 0.63 via Type II mechanism under the experimental conditions studied. The fluorescence of the phthalocyanine complexes (3, 5 and 7) is effectively quenched by 1,4-benzoquinone (BQ) in DMSO, DMF and THF.

Abstract
In this study, nonperipherally alkyl-linked carbazole conjugated novel zinc(II) phthalocyanine was synthesized by cyclotetramerization reaction of 6-(9 H-carbazol-9-yl)hexane-1-thiol and 3,6-bis(tosyloxy) phthalonitrile in a one-step reaction. Optical, electrical, and sensing properties of this super structured polycarbazole obtained by electropolymerization are compared with peripherally alkyl-linked polycarbazole-based zinc(II) phthalocyanine. It has been found that the attachment of alkyl-linked carbazoles to the phthalocyanine molecule in either peripheral or nonperipheral positions has a great effect on the optical and electrical properties and sensing ability of the resulting polycarbazole derivatives. P(n-ZnPc) has the highest electrochromic contrast (70.5%) among the derivatives of zinc(II) phthalocyanines in the literature. In addition to these, the sensor platform has been successfully established, and analytical optimizations have been carried out. When the sensors prepared with zinc(II) phthalocyanine are examined, it was specified that the n-ZnPc- co-TP/GOx was ranked first in the literature with high sensor response and stability. As a result, by changing of the peripheral and nonperipheral position of phthalocyanines, their physical properties can be tuned to meet the requirements of desired technological application.

The synthesis of axially disubstituted silicon phthalocyanines, their quaternized derivatives and first inhibitory effect on human cytosolic carbonic anhydrase isozymes hCA I and II. Abstract
In this study a novel silicon(iv) phthalocyanine bearing [(2E)-3-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-1-(4-phenoxy)prop-2-en-1-one] group and its quaternized derivative at their axial positions were synthesized for the first time. Axially disubstituted silicon(iv) phthalocyanines were also characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The inhibition of two human cytosolic carbonic anhydrase (hCA, EC 4.2.1.1) isozymes I and II, with axially disubstituted silicon phthalocyanines and their quaternized derivatives were investigated by using the esterase assay, with 4-nitrophenyl acetate as substrate. Silicon phthalocyanines ZM-1-Si, ZM-5-Si, ZT-Si and their quaternized derivatives ZM-1-SiQ, ZM-5-SiQ, ZT-SiQ showed IC50 values in the range of 0.0178–0.1653 μM for hCA I and of 0.0172–0.1212 μM against hCA II, respectively. This study is the first example of carbonic anhydrase enzyme inhibition of phthalocyanines. In this study a novel silicon(iv) phthalocyanine bearing [(2E)-3-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-1-(4-phenoxy)prop-2-en-1-one] group and its quaternized derivative at their axial positions were synthesized for the first time.![]()
