Abstract
Through dioxygen activation, a tetranuclear Mn(II,III,III,II) diamond core, [Mn4(HPTP*)2(μ-O)2(H2O)4](ClO4)4 (1) complex, has been synthesised using a suitably designed septadentate ligand framework (HPTP*H = 1,3-bis(bis((4-methoxy-3,5-dimethylpyridin-2-yl)methyl)amino)propan-2-ol). The newly prepared complex 1 was characterised using multiple spectroscopic techniques and X-ray crystallography. 1 exhibits excellent catalytic oxidation reactivity for the model substrates, namely, 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol (3,5-DTBC) and 2-aminophenol, efficiently mimicking the enzymes catechol oxidase and phenoxazinone synthase, respectively. Remarkably, we employed aerial oxygen to catalyze the oxidation of these model substrates, 3,5-DTBC and 2-aminophenol, with turnover numbers of 835 and 14, respectively. A tetranuclear Mn-diamond core complex that mimics both catechol oxidase and phenoxazinone synthase could pave the way for further research into its potential as a multi-enzymatic functional mimic.

Abstract
A new tetranuclear mixed-valence manganese(II/IV) compound [MnIIMnIV3(μ-Cl)3(µ3-O)(L)3] (1) (where H3L = (3E)-3-((Z)-4-hydroxy-4-phenylbut-3-en-2-ylideneamino)propane-1,2-diol) has been synthesized and characterized by different physicochemical methods. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 is a tetrahedral cluster consisting of a Mn4Cl3O4 core in which the only Mn(II) ion is joined through three μ2-O bridges to an equilateral triangle of Mn(IV) ions, which are connected by a μ3-O and three μ2-Cl bridges. The redox behavior of 1 was studied by cyclic voltammetry. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements of 1 revealed predominant antiferromagnetic coupling inside the Mn4Cl3O4 cluster.

Abstract
Manganese plays multiple role in many biological redox reactions in which it exists in different oxidation states from Mn(II) to Mn(IV). Among them the high-valent manganese-oxo intermediate plays important role in the activity of certain enzymes and lessons from the natural system provide inspiration for new developments of artificial systems for a sustainable energy supply and various organic conversions. This review describes recent advances and key lessons learned from the nature on high-valent Mn-oxo intermediates. Also we focus on the elemental science developed from the natural system, how the novel strategies are realised in nano particles and molecular sites at heterogeneous and homogeneous reaction conditions respectively. Finally, perspectives on the utilisation of the high-valent manganese-oxo species towards other organic reactions are proposed.

Abstract
A one-dimensional mixed-valence MnII/MnIII chain has been synthesized using N-salicylidene-l-alanine and 2,2′-bipyridine. The complex shows moderate catecholase and phenoxazinone synthase-like activity.
