Preparation and application of porous organic cage capillary electrochromatographic chiral column

多孔有机笼(POCs)是一种新型的具有稳定有序三维空腔结构的多孔材料。通过2-羟基-1,3,5-均苯三甲醛与1R,2R-1,2-二苯基乙二胺发生席夫碱的缩合反应,合成了一种具有羟基功能基团的单一手性POCs材料;将其均匀涂敷在毛细管壁上制成色谱柱,利用电色谱柱成功拆分了二氢黄酮、吡喹酮、萘普生和3,5-二硝基-N-(1-苯乙基)苯甲酰胺4种手性化合物。探究了分离电压、缓冲溶液浓度及其pH值等因素对手性拆分的影响,获得了4种手性物质在POCs色谱柱上的最佳拆分条件。实验研究表明,二氢黄酮、吡喹酮、萘普生和3,5-二硝基-N-(1-苯乙基)苯甲酰胺获得优化分离效果所需的工作电压分别为13、14、14和12 kV;二氢黄酮适宜Tris-H₃PO₄缓冲溶液浓度为0.075 mol/L,吡喹酮、萘普生和3,5-二硝基-N-(1-苯乙基)苯甲酰胺适宜Tris-H₃PO₄缓冲溶液浓度为0.100 mol/L; 4种手性物质得到最佳分离效果时的pH值均为3.51。二氢黄酮、吡喹酮、萘普生和3,5-二硝基-N-(1-苯乙基)苯甲酰胺均达到基线分离,分离度分别为2.99、2.10、2.58和3.59。该POCs色谱柱还成功拆分了o,m,p-碘苯胺、o,m,p-硝基苯胺两种位置异构体。该研究表明POCs手性电色谱柱具有良好的手性识别能力,是一种优秀的手性分离材料,具有很大的电色谱手性分离应用前景。

Polymeric Fiber Sorbents Embedded with Porous Organic Cages

The synthesis and functionalization of porous organic cages (POCs) for separation have attracted growing interest over the past decade. However, the potential of solid-phase POCs for practical, large-scale separations will require incorporation into appropriate gas-solid or liquid-solid contactors. Contactors with more effective mass transfer properties and lower pressure drops than pelletized systems are preferred. Here, we prepared and characterized fiber sorbents with POCs throughout a cellulose acetate (CA) polymer matrix, which were then deployed in model separations. The POC CC3 was shown to be stable after exposure to spinning solvents, as confirmed by NMR, powder X-ray diffraction, and gas sorption experiments. CC3-CA fibers were spun using the dry-jet wet-quench spinning method. Spun fibers retained the adsorptive properties of CC3 powders, as confirmed by CO₂ and N₂ physisorption and TGA, reaching upward of 60 wt % adsorbent loading, whereas the pelletized CC3 counterparts suffered significant losses in textural properties. The separation capabilities of the CC3-CA fibers are tested with both simulated postcombustion flue gas and with Xe/Kr mixtures. Fixed bed breakthrough experiments performed on fibers samples show that CC3 embedded in polymeric fibers can effectively perform these proof-of-concept gas separations. The development of fiber sorbents embedded with POCs provides an alternative to traditional pelletization for the incorporation of these materials into adsorptive separation systems.

PCL/Andiroba Oil (Carapa guianensis Aubl.) Hybrid Film for Wound Healing Applications

Developing a biomimetic material to wound care is an emerging need for the healing process. Poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) is a polymer with the necessary dressing's requirements often used in medicine. Their surface, physic-chemical and biological properties can be modified by adding bioactive compounds, such as andiroba seed oil (Carapa guianensis). This Amazonian natural plant has medicinal and pharmacological properties. For this purpose, PCL polymeric films incorporated with andiroba oil were investigated. The synthesis of hybrids materials was carried out in the solvent casting method. Thermal properties were evaluated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DTGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The solvent type on the surface and hydrophilicity of samples was studied using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Additionally, contact angle measurements, functional groups analysis, fluid absorption capacity, and cell viability were performed. The results demonstrated the influences of andiroba oil under the morphology and thermal properties of the polymeric matrix; the hydrophilicity of the hybrid film obtained by acetic acid was reduced by 13%; the porosity decreased as the concentration of oil increased, but its higher thermal stability. The L929 cell line's proliferation was observed in all materials, and it presented nontoxic nature. It was demonstrated the ability of PCL hybrid film as a matrix for cell growth. Then, the materials were proved potential candidates for biomedical applications.

Separation of Light Gases from Xenon over Porous Organic Cage Membranes

Herein, we demonstrate the successful synthesis and separation ability of CC3 porous organic cage membranes grown on tubular supports for light gases He, CO₂, CH₄, and Kr over xenon. CC3 membranes were synthesized using secondary seeded growth and displayed different separation performances depending on the crystal size, size distribution of the seeds, and membrane thickness. CC3 membranes as thin as ∼2.5 μm resulted in high single gas permeances of 2114, 1962, 1705, 773, and 162 GPU, for He, CH₄, CO₂, Kr, and Xe, respectively. The highest ideal selectivities for He/Xe, CH₄/Xe, CO₂/Xe, and Kr/Xe gas pairs were 13, 12, 10.5, and 4.8, respectively. Mechanistically, the membranes separated He, CO₂, Kr, and CH₄ from Xe mainly via gas diffusivity differences. Therefore, the separation was kinetically driven.
