Synthesis and Fluorescent Characteristics Study of Two Novel Co(II) Complexes

In this work, two novel mixed-ligand CPs that has a compositions of [Co2(µ-Hdppa)2(phen)2(H2O)2] (1) and {[Co(µ-Hdppa)(µ-4,4'-bipy)(H2O)]·H2O}n (2) is achieved through reaction of cobalt salts with the 5-(3,4-Dicarboxylphenyl)picolinic acid (H3dppa) with various N-donor co-ligands (1,10-phenanthroline (phen) for 1 and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) for 2). The structures and characteristics of these two complexes were fully examined via IR, TGA, and SXRD. Furthermore, their superior blue fluorescence properties compared to the original ligands were confirmed through fluorescence spectroscopy. These two complexes prepared in this study have enriched the choices for blue fluorescent materials.

An asymmetric mononuclear cobalt(II) compound derived from 3-bromo-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid involving in-situ hydrothermal decarboxylation: structure, magnetic property and Hirshfeld surface analysis

A new cobalt(II) compound with the formula [Co(5-Br-pyc)(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)(Cl)]·2H2O (1·H2O) (5-Br-Hpyc = 5-bromo-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid, 2,2′-bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine) has been hydrothermally synthesized and well characterized. The X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis showed that 1⋅2H2O has crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c (no. 14). The Co(II) center was octahedrally bonded by one bidentate chelate 5-Br-pyc anion and one 2,2′-bipy, one water molecule as well as one chloride anion to form the mononuclear structure of 1⋅2H2O. Complex 1⋅2H2O forms a 3D network through abundant O–H⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen bonds and π⋅⋅⋅π stacking interactions. Notably, the 5-Br-Hpyc ligand was in situ generated by decarboxylation of the 3-bromo-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (3-Br-H2pydc) precursor selectively on 2-position under hydrothermal conditions. The magnetic properties, the Hirshfeld surface structure and the synthetic process for 1⋅2H2O have been carefully described and discussed.

A new copper(II) complex containing triclopyr: one-pot crystallization, structure, conformation and Hirshfeld surface analyses

A new copper(II) complex [Cu(3,5,6-tcpa)(2,2′-bipy)Cl] (1) has been obtained through the one-pot hydrothermal reaction of copper chloride dihydrate with triclopyr (systematic name 2-((3,5,6-trichloropyridin-2-yl)oxy)acetic acid, abbreviation 3,5,6-Htcpa) and 2,2′-bipyridine (2,2′-bipy) coligands. 1 has crystallized in triclinic crystal system, P 1 ‾ $\overline{1}$ space group. The central copper(II) ion displayed a distorted square–pyramidal geometry and was connected by one chlorido co-ligand (Clˉ), one 3,5,6-tcpa anionic chelator and one chelating 2,2’-bipy ligand to afford a mononuclear structure. 1 is further extended into a 3D network by the non-covalent interactions of H⋯Cl, H⋯O hydrogen bonds, aromatic π⋯π stacking together with Cl⋯Cl halogen bond interactions. The co-crystallization process, the crystal structure of 1 as well as the Hirshfeld surface analysis for 1 have been analyzed and described. In addition, the flexible conformation of phenoxy methylene group among 1, triclopyr acid and its previously reported co-crystallized compound also have been carefully compared and discussed.

The synthesis, crystal structure and conformation analysis of triclopyr ethyl ester

Triclopyr ethyl ester (1) has been co-synthesized through one-pot solvothermal reaction and the crystal structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray structure analysis. The compound C18H16Cl6N2O6 crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, P21/c space group with unit-cell parameters: a = 4.9615(2) Å, b = 30.9297(14) Å, c = 15.9155(10) Å, β = 91.466(4)° and Z = 4. Each unit cell is composed of two discrete, similar but reversely arranged triclopyr ethyl ester organic molecules. In the 3D packing plot, 1 is further assembled into a network structure via rich Cl⋯Cl halogen bond interactions. In addition, the crystal structure, the flexible conformation of phenoxy methylene group of 1 has been carefully compared and discussed with those of triclopyr acid.

A new Cu(II)-containing coordination polymer: protective effect and mechanism exploration on elderly osteoporotic hip fractures via regulating the wnt signaling pathway

Elderly osteoporosis hip fracture has drawn the attention of the researcher. The coordination polymer was now widely used in clinic because their multiple structures and biological activities. In this present research, the new coordination polymer was designed and synthesized and their application values on elderly osteoporosis hip were evaluated. The reaction between Cu(II) salt and 4,4'-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methylene-bis(benzoic acid) (H2tzmb), an aromatase inhibitor letrozole derivative with the aid of the organic linker 4,4-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy) affords a new coordination polymer based on Cu(II) ions as nodes of {[Cu2(tzmb)2(4,4'-bpy) (μ2-H2O)2(DMA) (H2O)2]·10DMA}n (1). The complex 1 gained is totally investigated with the powder X-ray diffraction study, thermogravimetric analyses, the diffraction of single-crystal X-ray, elemental analysis as well as the Fourier transform infrared spectrometer spectra. The osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cell was measured with the western blotting assay through determining the Runx2 expression. The wnt signaling pathway relative expression in mesenchymal stem cell was detected through the determination of real-time RT-PCR. The cytotoxicity of the compound on the mesenchymal stem cell was determined with CCK-8 assay. The result of single-crystal X-ray diffraction reflects that the complex 1 has crystallized in space group R-3c of trigonal system and exhibits a three-dimensional skeleton architecture on the bases of the SBUs {Cu(tzmb)(μ2-H2O)}n. The western blotting assay results revealed that this compound could significantly promote the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cell. Besides, the activation of wnt signaling pathway in mesenchymal stem cell was also increased by the compound exposure. Finally, it can be summed up that this compound has excellent application values on the elderly osteoporotic hip fractures treatment by increasing the activation of wnt signaling pathway in mesenchymal stem cell. The results of the CCK-8 assay indicated that the compound has no cytotoxicity on the mesenchymal stem cell. The molecular docking simulation results have identified that only the carboxyl group on the Cu complex exhibits the activity for the hydrogen bond formation, however, the pyridine ring does not have such activity, instead, the pyridine ring only acts as the ligand that binds to the Cu ion. This Cu(II) coordination polymer has excellent application values on the elderly osteoporotic hip fractures treatment by increasing the activation of wnt signaling pathway in mesenchymal stem cell.

THE SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTIES OF A SODIUM SUPRAMOLECULAR CRYSTAL NETWORK CONSTRUCTED WITH FUNCTIONAL PYRAZINE SULFONIC ACID

Sulfonic acid groups with C_3ν symmetry can coordinate with metal ions to produce multidimensional structures due to their flexible coordination modes. They can also penetrate into supramolecular structures through an intriguing bridging pattern and weak interactions. Herein, a novel heterocyclic sodium sulfonate supramolecular structure, namely [Na(Pyr-SO₃)(H₂O)]_n where Pyr-SO₃H is pyrazine sulfonic acid, is synthesized by utilizing NaBF₄ to coordinate with the P–SO₃H ligand through the solvent evaporation method. The single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) data indicate that the as-formed structure belongs to the Pbca space group. Additional properties are characterized by powder XRD, thermal analysis, and solid-state fluorescence. In particular, the introduction of a soft alkali metal ion can coordinate with the oxygen atom of the sulfonate ligand and form a Na–O bridging configuration that can not only significantly improve the pyrazine sulfonic acid ligand coordination ability, but also provide a reference for the extended study of functional sulfonate polymers in the future.

Co(II) coordination polymer: Treatment activity on the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by reducing the inflammatory cytokines releasing

In the current study, using a semi-flexible quadritopic N-donor ligand, 5,5′-bipyrimidine (bpym), a new azide-based coordination polymer, [Co(bpym)(N3)2]n (1), was synthesized and structurally characterized via the single crystal X-ray diffraction along with the elemental analysis. Its treatment activity on the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) would be evaluated and the related mechanism was explored. Firstly, the ELISA (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay) detection assay was performed and the levels of the inflammatory cytokines were measured. In addition to this, the NF-κB signaling pathway activation in the lung epithelial cells was measured with the real time RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction). Both six-membered rings containing nitrogen and the azide group on the designed drug molecule were confirmed by molecular docking simulation to have activities to the NF-kappaB.

Construction of a new luminescent Cd(ii) compound for the detection of Fe3+ and treatment of Hepatitis B

A novel porous Cd(ii) metal–organic framework (MOF) with the chemical composition of {[H3O][Cd(bci)]} n ·2n(H2O) (1, H3bci = bis(2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate) was prepared via hydrothermal responses of H3bci and Cd(NO3)2·4H2O. Luminescent property investigations indicated that compound 1 had high sensitivity toward Fe3+, and the detection limit of Fe3+ was as low as 2.15 × 10−4 M. The application values of Fe3+ on Hepatitis B were assessed, and its associated mechanism was identified simultaneously. First, the cytotoxic mediator (TNF-α) substance released into plasma was measured through the ELISA. In addition, real-time RT-PCR was employed to determine the Hepatitis B viral replication gene relative expression levels. Finally, the novel compound’s toxicity against human normal liver cells was tested by using the CCK-8 assay.

Treatment and Nursing Values of Cd(II) Complex with Photocatalytic Activity on Bacterial Infection by Inhibiting the Gram-Positive Bacteria Growth

Presented here is a trinuclear cluster-based Cd(II) compound, namely, {[(CH3)2NH2][Cd6K(bdc)6(btz)3(H2O)6]}n (1 H2bdc = terephthalic acid, Hbtz = 1H-benzotriazole), has been solvothermally prepared and structurally determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. Notably, compound 1 shows excellent photocatalytic activity for degradation of MV irradiated by UV light. In addition to this, the biological activity of the new compound on bacterial infection was evaluated, and the corresponding mechanism was also studied. The ELISA assay was used to evaluate the TNF-α and IL-1β released into plasma after compound treatment. Then, the relative expression levels of the bacterial survival gene were measured with real-time RT-PCR.

A (4,4)-connected zinc(II) coordination polymer constructed with the flexible 2-carboxy phenoxyacetate ligand: synthesis, conformation alteration and fluorescent properties

A new binary ZnII coordination polymer, [Zn(2-cpa)(H2O)] n (2D-Zn) has been prepared by a 120 °C hydrothermal reaction of zinc(II) sulfate heptahydrate and 2-carboxy phenoxyacetic acid (2-H2cpa) in the presence of potassium hydroxide. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the ZnII ion is located in a deformed ZnO6 octahedron bonded by one water and three 2-carboxy phenoxyacetate (2-cpa) ligands. The 2-cpa exhibits pentadentate double bridging chelate-μ 3 coordination mode and connects adjacent ZnII ions to generate a corrugated (4,4)-connected layer structure. The structures, conformation of 2-cpa and photoluminescence spectra for 2D-Zn have been carefully analyzed and compared with its two closely related compounds ̶ 1D [Zn(2-cpa)(H2O)] n (1D-Zn) and mononuclear [Zn(2-cpa)(H2O)3] (0D-Zn). The results showed that the conformation of 2-cpa in 2D-Zn has the maximum alteration and the corresponding fluorescence emission peak of 2D-Zn has the largest red-shift of 62 nm compared with that of free 2-H2cpa.

A luminescent Zn-MOF exhibiting high water stability: selective detection of Cr(VI) ion and treatment activity on sepsis

A fresh metal-organic framework (MOF) based on the Zn ions as the metal ions has been prepared via the solvothermal method, and its chemical formula is [Zn(byia)(DMF)]·1.5DMF·7H₂O (1, byia =  5-(benzimidazol-2-yl) isophthalic acid). It is worth noting that the compound 1 has excellent water stability (which can be maintained in the water for at least a month). Most fascinating, in water, the compound 1 exhibits the strong blue luminescence, which can only be selectively quenched via the contaminant of the Cr₂O₇^2– ion. The selective luminescence quenching with low limits of detection and high values of K_sv proved its better sensing property, which can be compared with the contemporary materials. To development new strategy for the sepsis treatment, the biological activity and mechanism of the compound was explored. Firstly, the ELIA detection was performed in this experiment to assess the inhibition of compound against inflammatory factor storm during sepsis. Then, the inflammatory response in the immune cells was assessed by real time RT-PCR.

A Mn(II)-based coordination polymer: Treatment activity on cerebral infarction by reducing inflammatory response via regulating hs-CRP expression

A new Mn(II)-based metal–organic coordination polymer (CP), [Mn(DCTA)(L)(H2O)2]·(H2O) (1), was synthesized by self-assembly of Mn(OAc)2·4H2O with 1,4-bis(benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzene (L) and 2,5-dimercaptoterephthalic acid (H2DCTA). Furthermore, a refluxing treatment method was used to prepare the nanostructure 1 with good size distribution. Furthermore, the treatment effect of nano 1 on cerebral infarction was evaluated. Firstly, the real time RT-PCR was performed and the relative expression levels of the hs-CRP in human brain microvascular endothelial cell (HBMEC) was measured. Next, the content of the interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) released by the HBMEC was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection kit.
