Abstract
A three-component inclusion complex of ascorbyl palmitate (ASCP), urea (UR), and γ-cyclodextrin (γCD) with a molar ratio of 1/12 has been prepared for the first time using the evaporation method (EVP method) and the grinding and mixing method (GM method). Also, we investigated changes in the physicochemical properties of the three-component complexes. The powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) measurements showed ASCP, UR, and γCD characteristic peaks in the physical mixture (PM) (AU (ASCP/UR = 1/12)/γCD = 1/2). In GM (AU (ASCP/UR = 1/12)/γCD = 1/1), new diffraction peaks were observed around 2θ = 7.5° and 16.6°, while characteristic peaks derived from EVP (ASCP/UR = 1/12) were observed at 2θ = 23.4° and 24.9°. On the other hand, new diffraction peaks at 2θ = 7.4° and 16.6° were observed in GM (1/2). In the differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) measurement, an endothermic peak at around 83 °C was observed in the GM (1/1) sample, which is thought to originate from the phase transition of urea from the hexagonal to the tetragonal form. An endothermic peak around 113.9 °C was also observed for EVP (ASCP/UR = 1/12). However, no characteristic phase transition-derived peak or EVP (ASCP/UR = 1/12)-derived endothermic peak was observed in GM (1/2). Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy of GM (1/2) showed no shift in the peak derived from the CH group of ASCP. The peaks derived from the NH group of UR shifted to the high and low wavenumber sides at 5032 cm−1 and 5108 cm−1 in EVP (ASCP/UR = 1/12). The peak derived from the OH group of γCD shifted, and the peak derived from the OH group of ASCP broadened at GM (1/2). These results suggest that AU (ASCP/UR = 1/12)/γCD prepared by the mixed grinding method formed inclusion complexes at the molar ratio (1/2).

Abstract
Chlorogenic acid (CGA) is a phenolic compound widely found in plants. Several studies have shown that CGA possesses antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. Because of their three-dimensional structure, good permeability, excellent biocompatibility and moisturizing properties, hydrogels are ideal candidates for wound dressing. The aim of the present study was to preparation and characterization of Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel containing CGA microspheres and evaluation its wound healing activity. The double-emulsion solvent evaporation technique was applied for preparing the CGA containing microspheres. The microspheres were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and subsequently incorporated in the structure of a PVA hydrogel. The effects of prepared hydrogel on NIH3T3 cell line viability were evaluated using MTT method and wound healing activity was investigated in full thickness wound model in rabbit. SEM images showed formation of homogenous CGA microspheres with diameters in the range of 1-2 μm, embedded in the porous structure of the hydrogel. Infra-red results indicated successful incorporation of CGA microspheres into PVA hydrogel. The NIH3T3 cell viability percentage in CGA 2.5% hydrogel treated group significantly (p < .05) increased after 24 h and 48 h comparing to control group. In vivo studies showed that CGA hydrogel significantly (p < .001) stimulated the rate of wounds closures. Histological studies revealed that administration of CGA hydrogel significantly increased epithelialization and production of collagen fibers compared to the control group. It can be concluded that the CGA microsphere loaded PVA hydrogel has the potential for wound healing.

Abstract
Chlorogenic acid (CA) has a wide range of biological activities but the chemical structure is extremely unstable. In this study, CA was grafted onto a soluble oat β-glucan (OβGH) to improve the stability. Although the crystallinity and thermal stability of CA-OβGH conjugates reduced, the storage stability of CA significantly improved. The DPPH and ABTS scavenging ability of CA-OβGH IV (graft ratio 285.3 mg CA/g) were higher than 90 %, which is closed to activities of equivalent concentration of Vc (93.42 %) and CA (90.81 %). The antibacterial abilities of CA-OβGH conjugates are improved compared to the equivalent content of CA and potassium sorbate. Particularly, the inhibition rate of CA-OβGH for gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes) are significantly higher than that of gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli). The results demonstrated that covalent grafted CA with soluble polysaccharide is an effective strategy to enhance its stability and biological activities.

Abstract
Hydroxycinnamic acids (HCAs) are a subclass of phenolic acids presenting caffeic acid (CA), chlorogenic acid (CGA), coumaric acid (COA) isomers, ferulic acid (FA), and rosmarinic acid (RA) as the major representants, being broadly distributed into vegetal species and showing a range of biological potentials. Due to the low oral bioavailability of the HCAs, the development of delivery systems to promote better administration by the oral route is demanding. Among the systems, cyclodextrin (CD)-based delivery systems emerge as an important technology to solve this issue. Regarding these aspects, in this review, CD-based delivery systems containing HCAs are displayed, described, and discussed concerning the degree of interaction and their effects on crucial parameters that affect the oral bioavailability of HCAs.

Abstract
The dangerous effects of oxidative stress can be alleviated by antioxidants—substances with the ability to prevent damage caused by reactive oxygen species. The adsorption of antioxidants onto nanocarriers is a well-known method that might protect them against rough environ-mental conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate the adsorption and desorption of gallic acid (GA), protocatechuic acid (PCA), chlorogenic acid (CGA), and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4-HBA) using commercially available mesoporous silica materials (MSMs), both parent (i.e., SBA-15 and MCM-41) and surface functionalized (i.e., SBA-NH2 and SBA-SH). The MSMs loaded with active compounds were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermoporometry (TPM), and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC-CAD) was used to evaluate the performance of the adsorption and desorption processes. The antioxidant potential was investigated using the Folin−Ciocalteu (FC) spectrophotometric method. Among the studied MSMs, the highest adsorption of GA was observed for amine-modified SBA-15 mesoporous silica. The adsorption capacity of SBA-NH2 increased in the order of PCA, 4-HBA < GA < CGA. Different desorption effectiveness levels of the adsorbed compounds were observed with the antioxidant capacity preserved for all investigated compounds.

Abstract
Ellagic acid (EA), a natural polyphenol found in berries, has high antioxidant capacity. This study aimed to improve EA solubility by complex formation with urea (UR) using solvent evaporation method and evaluate its solubility, antioxidant capacity, and physical properties. The solubility test (25 °C, 72 h) showed that the solubility of EVP (EA/UR = 1/1) was approximately two-fold higher than that of EA (7.13 µg/mL versus 3.99 µg/mL). Moreover, the IC50 values of EA and EVP (EA/UR = 1/1) (1.50 µg/mL and 1.30 µg/mL, respectively) showed higher antioxidant capacity of EVP than that of EA. DSC analysis revealed that the UR peak at 134 °C disappeared, and a new endothermic peak was observed at approximately 250 °C for EVP (EA/UR = 1/1). PXRD measurements showed that the characteristic peaks of EA at 2θ = 12.0° and 28.0° and of UR at 2θ = 22.0°, 24.3°, and 29.1° disappeared and that new peaks were identified at 2θ = 10.6°, 18.7°, and 26.8° for EVP (EA/UR = 1/1). According to 2D NOESY NMR spectroscopy, cross-peaks were observed between the -NH and -OH groups, suggesting intermolecular interactions between EA and UR. Therefore, complexation was confirmed in EA/UR = 1/1 prepared by solvent evaporation, suggesting that it contributed to the improvement in solubility and antioxidant capacity of EA.

Abstract
Red clover is the subject of numerous studies because of its antioxidant properties, the positive influence of isoflavones on the health, and its potential use in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. The right excipients, such as cyclodextrins, can increase the profile of valuable phenolic compounds in extraction media to obtain rich in antioxidants, extracts that can be used in nutraceuticals production. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the total phenolic content, flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity of red clover aerial parts, aqueous and ethanolic extracts prepared using traditional and cyclodextrins-assisted methods. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was established using ABTS, DPPH, FRAP, and ABTS-post column methods. It was determined that cyclodextrins significantly increased total phenolic content (compared with control)—using β-cyclodextrin 20.29% (in aqueous samples); γ-cyclodextrin 22.26% (in ethanolic samples). All the samples prepared with excipients demonstrated a strong relationship between total phenolic content and DPPH assay. Study showed that for extraction with water, the highest amounts of phenolic compounds, flavonoids and antioxidant activity will be achieved with β-cyclodextrin, but extractions with ethanol will give the best results with γ-cyclodextrin. Therefore, cyclodextrins are a great and safe tool for obtaining rich, red clover flower extracts that are high in antioxidant activity, which can be used in the pharmaceutical industry for nutraceuticals production.

Abstract
Daidzein, an aglycone-type isoflavone, is useful in the prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. However, the solubility of daidzein remains relatively low even with pharmaceutical interventions (e.g., γ-cyclodextrin inclusion complex). In the present study, daidzein-cyclodextrin-metal organic framework solid dispersion complexes were prepared by the solvent evaporation method. The physicochemical properties of the complex and its effect on the solubility of daidzein were evaluated. The enhancement effect of a cyclodextrin-metal organic framework on the antioxidant properties of daidzein was verified using a diphenyl-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging test. Powder X-ray diffraction results showed that the characteristic diffraction peaks of daidzein and cyclodextrin-metal organic framework disappeared and new peaks (2θ = 7.1°, 16.5°) were observed. FT-IR measurements showed that the peak derived from the carbonyl group of daidzein shifted to the lower wavenumber. NOESY 1H-1H NMR showed cross peaks at the proton on the resorcinol side of daidzein and the proton (H-5, H-6) in a cyclodextrin-metal organic framework. Dissolution rate of daidzein at 5 min in distilled water was 0.06% for daidzein alone while the daidzein inclusion complex was about 100%. When fasted state simulated intestinal fluid was used, the dissolution rate of the daidzein complex was about 71% compared with that of daidzein alone (~ 3.0%) at 5 min. The daidzein inclusion complex improved the antioxidant capacity to ~ 1.3 times (17.8 µg/mL) compared to the IC50 of daidzein alone (22.9 µg/mL). Preparations of cyclodextrin-metal organic framework inclusion complexes will be a platform in developing pharmaceutical formulations to enhance the bioavailability and activity of drugs.

Abstract
Neochlorogenic acid, a less-studied isomer of chlorogenic acid, has been seen to posses antioxidant, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic effects, which makes it an interesting candidate for incorporation in functional foods. However, its poor solubility in water and susceptibility to oxidation make such a task difficult. To overcome that, its encapsulation in cyclodextrins (CDs) is proposed. The fluorescence of neochlorogenic acid in different pH conditions was analyzed, and caffeic acid was proved to be the fluorescent moiety in the molecule. An encapsulation model whereby the ligand poses two potential complexation sites (caffeic and D-(-)-quinic moieties), showed that α-CD and HP-β-CD formed the best inclusion complexes with neochlorogenic acid, followed by M-β-CD, β-CD and γ-CD. Molecular docking with the two best CDs gave better scores for α-CD, despite HP-β-CD providing stabilization through H-bonds. The encapsulation of chlorogenic acid led to a similar CD order and scores, although constants were higher for α-CD, β-CD and M-β-CD, lower for HP-β-CD, and negligible for γ-CD. The protonation state affected these results leading to a different order of CD preference. The solubility and the susceptibility to oxidation of neochlorogenic acid improved after complexation with α-CD and HP-β-CD, while the antioxidant activity of both isomers was maintained.

Abstract
Mitochondrial oxidative damage and dysfunction contribute to a wide range of human diseases. Considering the limitation of conventional antioxidants and that mitochondria are the main source of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which induce oxidative damage, mitochondria-targeted antioxidants which can selectively block mitochondrial oxidative damage and prevent various types of cell death have been widely developed. As a lipophilic cation, triphenylphosphonium (TPP) has been commonly used in designing mitochondria-targeted antioxidants. Conjugated with the TPP moiety, antioxidants can achieve more than 1000-fold higher mitochondrial concentration depending on cell membrane potentials and mitochondrial membrane potentials. Herein we discuss the deficiencies of conventional antioxidants and the advantages of mitochondrial targeting, and review various types of TPP-based mitochondria-targeted antioxidants. These provide theoretical and background support for the design of new anti-oxidant.

Abstract
The present study utilizes the novel combination of Gum tragacanth (GT) and sodium alginate (SA) to reinforce SA hydrogel beads. The composite hydrogel beads were encapsulated with phenolic compounds extracted from Basella sps. The rheological studies conferred increased elastic property of GT incorporated formulations. Higher swelling behavior was observed in simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) with increasing GT content in SA formulations. SA-GT composite hydrogels revealed increased encapsulation efficiency with sustained release of phenolic compounds in SIF. GT incorporated hydrogel beads exhibited increased biodegradation (up to 82% weight loss) in biodegradation media (in vitro). FTIR study found no molecular interaction between SA and GT. TGA analysis revealed that GT incorporation did not affect the thermal behavior of SA. Furthermore, SA-GT encapsulated hydrogels showed remarkable cytotoxicity against osteosarcoma cells. Thus our findings suggest SA-GT gel formulation could be used as a promising delivery system for drugs and nutraceutical compounds.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the solubilities and physicochemical properties of solid dispersions of daidzein (DDZ) and genistein (GST) (the major isoflavones in soybeans) in γ-cyclodextrin (γCD). Dispersions were prepared in distilled water using a three-dimensional ball mill (3DGMw). Phase solubility diagrams confirmed that DDZ/γCD and GST/γCD formed AL type inclusion complexes with a molar ratio of 1:1. A new peak due to inclusion complexes was observed in the results of powder X-ray diffraction (3DGMw(DDZ/γCD = 1:1) and 3DGMw(GST/γCD = 1:1)). Dissolution tests using distilled water found that solubilities of 3DGMw(DDZ/γCD = 1:1) and 3DGMw(GST/γCD = 1:1) were approximately 37- and 51-fold higher, respectively, than the solubilities of pure DDZ and GST. These observations are expected to expand the usefulness of cogrinding of DDZ or GST with γCD using a three-dimensional ball mill.

Abstract
Green coffee beans are rich in polyphenol chlorogenic acids (CGAs), which are decomposed to give caffeic acid (CFA) and quinic acid (QNA) upon roasting. CGA, CFA and QNA primarily confer the bitterness, astringency and acidity to the coffee brew. Aiming at the structural and thermodynamic insights into the β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) encapsulation of key compounds in coffee (CGA 1, CFA 2, and QNA 3), a systematic, comprehensive study using single-crystal X-ray diffraction and DFT calculation has been undertaken. Scrutinizing the X-ray-derived inclusion structures of 1-3 reveals that the CFA moiety plays a determinant role in complexation, in agreement with the DFT-derived relative thermodynamic stabilities. The guest molecules gain stability through OH⋯O hydrogen bonding with β-CD and are well shielded in the β-CD wall. The three stable β-CD inclusion complexes with coffee key compounds suggest the implications of CDs as encapsulating agents for improving bioactivities and masking bitter taste in foods.

Abstract
This work reports the elusive structural evidence for the [4]pseudorotaxane of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) with coffee chlorogenic acid (CGA), a conjugate of caffeic acid (CFA) and quinic acid (QNA). A single-crystal X-ray structure analysis of the inclusion complex β-cyclodextrin-chlorogenic acid-water (2/2/17), 2C42H70O35·2C16H18O9·17H2O, reveals that CGA threads through β-CD and assembles via O-H...O hydrogen bonds and parallel-displaced π-π interactions in the twofold symmetry-related dimer yielding a [4]pseudorotaxane, which is crystallographically observed for the first time in CD inclusion complexes. The encapsulation of the aromatic ring and C=C-C(=O)O chain in the β-CD dimeric cavity indicates that the CFA moiety plays a determinant role in complexation. This is in agreement with the DFT-derived relative thermodynamic stabilities of the trimodal β-CD-CGA inclusion complexes, that is, β-CD complexed with different CGA components: C=C-C(=O)O chain > cyclohexane ring > aromatic ring. The complexation stability is further enhanced in the dimeric β-CD-CGA complex, with the CFA moiety totally enclosed in the β-CD dimeric cavity.

Abstract
Due to its poor water solubility, the herbicide cyanazine is usually dissolved in organic reagents when used, which poses a great threat to the environment. Poor water solubility also causes limited herbicidal activity. In our study, the water solubility of cyanazine was increased by forming a cyanazine/hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) inclusion complex. The formation of the inclusion complex was confirmed by FT-IR, XRD, SEM and other characterization methods. Phase solubility study showed that HPβCD could improve the water solubility of cyanazine. Thermogravimetric analysis indicated that the thermal stability of cyanazine was improved by forming inclusion complex and the biological activity test showed that better herbicidal activity was obtained on the inclusion complex compared with the cyanazine. The results showed that the formation of inclusion complex could improve the application of cyanazine in agricultural production and reduce the risk to the environment. Cyanazine/HPβCD inclusion complex was prepared to improve water solubility and thermal stability and herbicidal activity of cyanazine.![]()

Abstract
In the current study, we prepared a ground mixture (GM) of caffeic acid (CA) with α-cyclodextrin (αCD) and with β-cyclodextrin (βCD), and then comparatively assessed the physicochemical properties and antioxidant capacities of these GMs. Phase solubility diagrams indicated that both CA/αCD and CA/βCD formed a complex at a molar ratio of 1/1. In addition, stability constants suggested that CA was more stable inside the cavity of αCD than inside the cavity of βCD. Results of powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) indicated that the characteristic diffraction peaks of CA and CD disappeared and a halo pattern was produced by the GMs of CA/αCD and CA/βCD (molar ratios = 1/1). Dissolution testing revealed that both GMs had a higher rate of dissolution than CA alone did. Based on the 1H-1H NOESY NMR spectra for the GM of CA/αCD, the vinylene group of the CA molecule appeared to be included from the wider to the narrower rim of the αCD ring. Based on spectra for the GM of CA/βCD, the aromatic ring of the CA molecule appeared to be included from the wider to the narrower rim of the βCD ring. This suggests that the structures of the CA inclusion complexes differed between those involving αCD rings and those involving βCD rings. Results of a DPPH radical-scavenging activity test indicated that the GM of CA/αCD had a higher antioxidant capacity than that of the GM of CA/βCD. The differences in the antioxidant capacities of the GMs of CA/αCD and CA/βCD are presumably due to differences in stability constants and structures of the inclusion complexes.

Abstract
Eucommia ulmoides Oliver (E. ulmoides) is a traditional Chinese medicine with many beneficial effects, used as a tonic medicine in China and other countries. Chlorogenic acid (CGA) is an important compound in E. ulmoides with neuroprotective, cognition improvement and other pharmacological effects. However, it is unknown whether chlorogenic acid-enriched Eucommia ulmoides Oliver bark has antidepressant potential through neuron protection, serotonin release promotion and penetration of blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier. In the present study, we demonstrated that CGA could stimulate axon and dendrite growth and promote serotonin release through enhancing synapsin I expression in the cells of fetal rat raphe neurons in vitro. More importantly, CGA-enriched extract of E. ulmoides (EUWE) at 200 and 400 mg/kg/day orally administered for 7 days showed antidepressant-like effects in the tail suspension test of KM mice. Furthermore, we also found CGA could be detected in the the cerebrospinal fluid of the rats orally treated with EUWE and reach the level of pharmacological effect for neuroprotection by UHPLC-ESI-MS/MS. The findings indicate CGA is able to cross the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier to exhibit its neuron protection and promotion of serotonin release through enhancing synapsin I expression. This is the first report of the effect of CGA on promoting 5-HT release through enhancing synapsin I expression and CGA-enriched EUWE has antidepressant-like effect in vivo. EUWE may be developed as the natural drugs for the treatment of depression.

Abstract
A non-classic complexation mode was discovered upon spectroscopic, thermodynamic, crystallographic and computational studies of a β-cyclodextrin/propionic acid complex. A "fully immersed" complexation phenomenon, where both the guest's hydrophobic and polar moieties are located inside the host and are stabilized by it, was found and calculated as the most favorable configuration.

Abstract
The aim of this work was the synthesis of biodendrimeric β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) on the secondary face with encapsulation efficacy, with β-CDs moiety to preserve the biocompatibility properties, also particularly growth their loading capacity for drugs with certain size. The new dendrimer, having 14 β-CD residues attached to the core β-CD in secondary face (11), was prepared through click reaction. The encapsulation property of the prepared compound was evaluated by methotrexate (MTX) drug molecule. Characterization of compound 11 was performed with (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR and FTIR and its supramolecular inclusion complex structure was determined using FTIR, DLS, DSC and SEM techniques. In vitro cytotoxicity test results showed that compound 11 has very low or no cytotoxic effect on T47D cancer cells. In vitro drug release study at pHs 3, 5 and 7.4 showed that the release process was noticeably pH dependent and the dendrimer could be used as an appropriate controlled drug delivery system (DDS) for cancer treatment.

Abstract
The present study investigated five cyclodextrins (CDs) for the extraction of flavonols from apple pomace powder and optimized β-CD based extraction of total flavonols using response surface methodology. A 2(3) central composite design with β-CD concentration (0-5 g 100 mL(-1)), extraction temperature (20-72 °C), extraction time (6-48 h) and second-order quadratic model for the total flavonol yield (mg 100 g(-1) DM) was selected to generate the response surface curves. The optimal conditions obtained were: β-CD concentration, 2.8 g 100 mL(-1); extraction temperature, 45 °C and extraction time, 25.6 h that predicted the extraction of 166.6 mg total flavonols 100 g(-1) DM. The predicted amount was comparable to the experimental amount of 151.5 mg total flavonols 100 g(-1) DM obtained from optimal β-CD based parameters, thereby giving a low absolute error and adequacy of fitted model. In addition, the results from optimized extraction conditions showed values similar to those obtained through previously established solvent based sonication assisted flavonol extraction procedure. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to optimize aqueous β-CD based flavonol extraction which presents an environmentally safe method for value-addition to under-utilized bio resources.

Abstract
The major objective of this work is to investigate the enhancing effect of β-cyclodextrin on the intestinal absorption of berberine hydrochloride, a P-glycoprotein (Pgp) substrate. The inclusion complexation behavior of BBH with β-CD was investigated by phase-solubility diagram, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray powder diffractometry, NMR spectroscopy, and molecular modeling studies. Results indicated that the 1,3-benzodioxole of BBH was included into the cavity of β-CD to form an inclusion complex which exhibited higher dissolution rate than BBH in vitro. The intestinal absorption of the inclusion complex in rats was significantly higher than the free drug due to its solubilizing effect and Pgp modulatory activity. The mechanisms of β-CD on Pgp modulation were demonstrated by modifying the Pgp ATPase activity, the Pgp mRNA level and the Pgp expression.

Abstract
Icariin is a bioactive herbal ingredient isolated from Herba epimedii, which has been widely used for the treatment of osteoporosis and male sexual dysfunction in traditional Chinese medicine. The major objective of this work is to investigate the different enhancing effects of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) on the intestinal absorption of icariin, and to identify the molecular mechanisms of this action. Host-guest-type interactions of icariin with cyclodextrins nanocavities were unambiguously demonstrated by the phase-solubility diagram, ultraviolet spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray powder diffractometry, and two dimensional proton nuclear magnetic resonance rotating-frame Overhauser effect spectroscopy. These results were further supported using molecular modeling studies. The rat single-pass intestinal perfusion model showed that the absorption of icariin was affected by P-glycoprotein (Pgp). The icariin/HP-β-CD inclusion complex provided greater enhancement in the intestinal absorption than the icariin/β-CD inclusion complex. Therefore, the enhancing effect was involved in a solubilizing effect and/or Pgp inhibitory effect. Finally, fluorescence anisotropy measurements and Pgp adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) assay demonstrated that β-CD exhibited no effect on Pgp, while HP-β-CD showed inhibition by restraining the Pgp ATPase activity rather than changing the fluidity of cell membrane.
