Abstract
Nanocomposites are sophisticated materials that incorporate nanostructures into matrix materials, such as polymers, ceramics and metals. Generally, the marine ecosystem exhibits severe variability in terms of light, temperature, pressure, and nutrient status, forcing the marine organisms to develop variable, complex and unique chemical structures to boost their competitiveness and chances of survival. Polymers sourced from marine creatures, such as chitin, chitosan, alginate, sugars, proteins, and collagen play a crucial role in the bioengineering field, contributing significantly to the development of nanostructures like nanoparticles, nanocomposites, nanotubes, quantum dots, etc. These nanostructures offer a wide array of features involving mechanical strength, thermal stability, electrical conductivity, barrier and optical characteristics compared to traditional composites. Notably, marine nanocomposites have distinctive roles in a wide spectrum of applications, among them anti-cancer, anti-microbial, antioxidant, cytotoxic, food packing, tissue engineering and catalytic actions. Sol-gel, hot pressing, chemical vapor deposition, catalytic decomposition, dispersion, melt intercalation, in situ intercalative polymerization, high-energy ball milling and template synthesis are common processes utilized in engineering nanocomposites. According to our literature survey and the Web of Science, chitosan, followed by cellulose, chitin and MAPs emerge as the most significant marine polymers utilized in the construction of nanocomposites. Taken together, the current manuscript underscores the biogenesis of nanocomposites, employing marine polymers using eco-friendly processes. Furthermore, significant emphasis in this area is needed to fully explore their capabilities and potential benefits. To the best of our knowledge, this manuscript stands as the first comprehensive review that discusses the role of marine-derived polymers in engineering nanocomposites for various applications.

Abstract
The impact of guar gum (GG), crude algae ethanolic extract (CAEE), and turmeric essential oil (TEO) incorporated edible coating formulations on the quality of cut potatoes was investigated at room temperature (27 ± 3 °C, 70-85 % RH) storage using a rotatable central composite design. Besides, 30 % glycerol, 5 % calcium chloride, and 3 % ascorbic acid (w/w) were added to the coating solution as additives. The surface color, respiration rate, water vapor transmission rate, visible mold growth, and sensory analysis were assessed after seven days of storage. The inclusion of ascorbic acid and TEO in edible coating demonstrated a more effective delay in browning. The coated potatoes had lower OTR, CTR, and WVTR values for GG concentrations of 0.5 to 1 g/100 mL than the control. Compared to additives, higher concentrations of GG improved response parameters. The WVTR value of coated potatoes was significantly impacted by the interaction between CAEE and TEO with GG. Incorporating CAEE and TEO into the formulations of guar gum led to a reduction in the permeability of the coating to oxygen and water vapor. The seven days of extended shelf life compared to two days of control were observed with the optimized coating formulation. Furthermore, the application of the coating treatment proved effective in preventing enzymatic browning and creating a barrier against moisture and gases, contributing to prolonged freshness during extended storage periods.

Abstract
Rapid growth in industrialization sectors, the wastewater treatment plants become exhausted and potentially not able to give desirable discharge standards. Many industries discharge the untreated effluent into the water bodies which affects the aquatic diversity and human health. The effective disposal of industrial effluents thus has been an imperative requirement. For decades nanocellulose based materials gained immense attraction towards application in wastewater remediation and emerged out as a new biobased nanomaterial. It is light weighted, cost effective, mechanically strong and easily available. Large surface area, versatile surface functionality, biodegradability, high aspect ratio etc., make them suitable candidate in this field. Majorly cellulose based nanomaterials are used in the form of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), cellulose nanofibers (CNFs), or bacterial nanocellulose (BNC). This review specifically describes about a variety of extraction methods to produced nanocellulose and also discusses the modification of nanocellulose by adding functionalities in its surface chemistry. We majorly focus on the utilization of nanocellulose based materials in water remediation for the removal of different contaminants such as dyes, heavy metals, oil, microbial colony etc. This review mainly emphasizes in ray of hope towards nanocellulose materials to achieve more advancement in the water remediation fields.

Abstract
For the rational use of agricultural wastes, bagasse, orange peel and wheat bran were used to fabricate bio-based polymer materials. Cellulose was extracted from the three different agricultural wastes, and poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) was used as the matrix material. PCL was mixed with nanocrystalline cellulose (CNC), extracted bagasse cellulose (GC), orange peel cellulose (JC) and wheat bran cellulose (MC) by solution casting. Morphology and structure of the extracted cellulose were studied by Scanning Electron Microscope, Fourier Infrared spectrometer, thermogravimetry and X-ray diffractometer. The influence of GC, JC, MC on the crystallization process and mechanical properties of PCL was investigated by DSC and tensile test. Experimental results show that the addition of CNC, GC, JC, MC increases the crystallization temperature of PCL, accelerates the crystallization process of PCL, and improves the tensile property of PCL.

Abstract
Composites suitable for rotational molding technology based on poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and filled with hollow glass microspheres (HGM) or functionalized hollow glass microspheres (HGMf) were prepared via melt-compounding. The functionalization of glass microspheres was carried out by a silanization treatment in order to improve the compatibility between the inorganic particles and the polymer matrix and achieve a good dispersion of glass microspheres in the matrix and an enhanced filler-polymer adhesion. The crystallization behavior of materials was studied by DSC under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions and the nucleating effect of the glass microspheres was proven. In particular, the presence of silanized glass microspheres promoted faster crystallization rates and higher nucleation activity, which are enhanced by 75% and 50%, respectively, comparing neat PCL and the composite filled with 20 wt% HGMf. The crystalline and supermolecular structure of PCL and composites crystallized from the melt was evaluated by WAXD and SAXS, highlighting differences in terms of crystallinity index and structural parameters as a function of the adopted crystallization conditions.

Abstract
The concept of sustainability and the substitution of non-biodegradable packaging using biodegradable packaging has attracted gigantic interest. The objective of the present study was to revalorize the biowaste "de-oiled green algae biomass (DAB)" of Dunaliella tertiolecta using a green approach and the development of biodegradable chitosan (CS)-based edible active biocomposite films and coatings for prolonging the shelf life of fresh produce. Ultrasound-assisted green extraction was conducted using food-grade solvent ethanol for obtaining the bio-actives, namely "crude algae ethanolic extract (CAEE)" from DAB. The edible films (CS/CAEE) and coating solutions were developed by incorporating CAEE with varying concentrations (0 to 28%). The CAEE was subjected to MALDI-TOF-MS, NMR, and other biochemical analyses, and was found to be rich in DPPH antioxidant activity (∼40%). The CS/CAEE films were fabricated using a solvent casting method and characterized by several biochemical and physicochemical (FESEM, TGA, FTIR, XRD, WVP, UTM, and rheological) characterization techniques. The addition of CAEE into the CS matrix reduced the maximum film transparency (∼20%), water vapor permeability (∼60%); improved the crystallinity (∼24%), tensile strength (∼25%), and antioxidant activity (∼27%); and exhibited UV-Vis blocking properties as compared to the control film. Besides, the developed coating solutions and CAEE showed biocompatibility with BHK-21 fibroblast cells and antimicrobial activity against common food pathogens. The developed coating solution was applied on green chilli using a dipping method and stored at ambient temperature (25 ± 2 °C, 50-70 % RH) for 10 days. The shelf life of chillies was extended without altering the quality as compared to uncoated green chillies. Therefore, the formulated coating could be applicable for prolonging the shelf life of fresh produce.
