Abstract
OBJECTIVE Nanozyme materials combine the advantages of natural enzymes and artificial catalysis, and have been widely applied in new technologies for dental materials and oral disease treatment. Based on the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress pathways in the occurrence and therapy of oral diseases, a comprehensive review was conducted on the methods and mechanisms of nanozymes and their dental materials in treating different oral diseases. METHODS This review is based on literature surveys from PubMed and Web of Science databases, as well as reviews of relevant researches and publications on nanozymes in the therapy of oral diseases and oral tumors in international peer-reviewed journals. RESULTS Given the unique function of nanozymes in the generation and elimination of ROS, they play an important role in the occurrence, development, and treatment of different oral diseases. The application of nanozymes in dental materials and oral disease treatment was introduced, including the latest advances in their use for dental caries, pulpitis, jaw osteomyelitis, periodontitis, oral mucosal diseases, temporomandibular joint disorders, and oral tumors. Future approaches were also summarized and proposed based on the characteristics of these diseases. SIGNIFICANCE This review will guide biomedical researchers and oral clinicians to understand the mechanisms and applications of nanozymes in the therapy of oral diseases, promoting further development in the field of dental materials within the oral medication. It is anticipated that more suitable therapeutic agents or dental materials encapsulating nanozymes, specifically designed for the oral environment and simpler for clinical utilization, will emerge in the forthcoming future.

Abstract
Allergic contact dermatitis is characterized by its appearance of red, raised and infiltrated, scaling or scabbed skin and intense pruritus, and distinguished from irritant contact dermatitis by its specific immune process and histopathology. Many contact allergens are low-molecular- weight chemicals including metals such as nickel, cobalt, and chromium, preservatives, and adhesives. When such materials are used internally in biomedical devices, they are similarly capable of causing sensitization and an inflammatory response. Sometimes, the reaction remains internal, and presents as swelling, pain, stiffness, decreased range of motion, and internal itching around the implant. Such reactions may, in some cases, also extend to include a localized or, rarely, systemic contact dermatitis indicative of the same process. This review will present an overview of reported skin and local internal reactions to orthopedic implants, which are the largest category of implanted internal metal devices. Immune reactions to smaller categories of medical appliances include cardiac devices and vascular stents, neuromodulation devices, diabetic appliances, Nuss bar surgery for pectus excavatum, and dental and spinal implants. We will review the available diagnostic tools, the consensus on interpretation, and reported strategies for treatment.

Abstract
The aim of this systematic review was to determine the most prevalent complications resulting from total temporomandibular joint (TMJ) replacement. An electronic search was performed using the Embase, LILACS, MEDLINE (via PubMed), SciELO, Scopus, and Web of Science databases up to June 2022. Prospective and retrospective clinical studies on patients who underwent TMJ replacement were included. Two reviewers performed the study selection, data extraction, and individual risk of bias assessment using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Tools. The pooled prevalence of each complication was calculated through a proportion meta-analysis using the random-effects model. Twenty-eight studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the review. All of the eligible studies had a low risk of bias. The results of the meta-analysis revealed that the most prevalent complication was paresis or paralysis of the facial nerve branches (7.8%; 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.6-15.1%, I2 = 94.5%), followed by sensory alterations (1.8%; 95% CI 0.6-4.9%, I2 = 88.8%), heterotopic bone formation (1.0%; 95% CI 0.1-2.5%, I2 = 75.8%), and infection (0.7%; 95% CI 0.1-1.6%, I2 = 22.7%). In conclusion, TMJ replacement has a low prevalence of complications, and most of them can be managed successfully.

Abstract
Inflammatory arthritis presents a unique destructive process to the temporomandibular joint. This article provides information on the proper diagnosis, treatment planning, and surgical management aimed to provide patients with improvement in pain, function, stability and facial aesthetics. Additionally, it aims to provide a detailed insight on the joint reconstruction options including alloplastic joint replacement, autogenous joint replacement, orthognathic surgery and distraction osteogenesis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim: To establish the possibility of using the atomic force microscope (AFM) to predict the body's reaction to the implant. PATIENTS AND METHODS Materials and methods: A total of 32 patients, 22 men and 10 women, the average age of the patients was 55±6 years, were included in the study. They performed pre- and post-operative testing of the biocompatibility of orthopedic implant materials with the patient's body with the help of AFM. RESULTS Results: According to the research, an increase in pro-inflammatory factors was found, which may indicate a constant inflammatory process, which is probably related to the presence of the implant. CONCLUSION Conclusions: On the basis of atomic force spectroscopy, an express method of testing biomaterials for compatibility with the body of a specific recipient and studying the effect of the reactions of recipient tissues on the surface of various implants has been developed. The obtained results can be useful in planning further clinical studies.

Abstract
PURPOSE Patients with documented metal hypersensitivity to cobalt-chromium-molybdenum (CoCrMo) alloy with trace nickel requiring TMJ total joint prosthesis (TJP) may have adverse reactions to the metals in the standard TMJ Concepts TJP. This study aimed to determine if these patients can be successfully treated by eliminating CoCrMo alloy and constructing the mandibular components of all-titanium (Ti) alloy. PATIENTS AND METHODS This retrospective cohort study evaluated metal hypersensitive patients (MHG) that received the TMJ Concepts TJP modification of all-Ti alloy mandibular components with outcome results compared to a control group (CG) of non-metal-sensitive patients that received the standard TMJ Concepts prostheses. The primary predictor variables were the 2 groups, MHG and CG. Primary variables evaluated using Likert scales included TMJ pain, headache, jaw function, diet, and disability. Maximum incisal opening and quality of life were measured. Secondary variables included: age, gender, effect of the number and type of prior TMJ. Scores for pre- and postsurgery parameters (nonparametric variables) were analyzed using a Mann-Whitney U test (α = 0.05). RESULTS The MHG (n = 30) received the Ti alloy TJP and CG (n = 46) received the standard TJP, with statistically significant improvements in all variables in both groups and no statistically significant difference in outcome variables between the 2 groups. Patients with 0 to 1 previous TMJ surgeries had better outcomes in all parameters except maximum incisal opening compared to patients with 2 or more previous TMJ surgeries. CONCLUSIONS Patients with documented hypersensitivity to CoCrMo alloy, requiring TMJ Concepts TJP may experience improvement in TMJ pain, headache, jaw function, diet, disability, jaw opening, and quality of life when the mandibular components are manufactured from all-Ti alloy, eliminating the CoCrMo alloy. The larger the number of previous TMJ surgeries and exposure to failed alloplastic implants, the less improvement in treatment outcomes.

Abstract
Metal hypersensitivity in joint arthroplasty is a very controversial topic with limited evidence. With increasing numbers of joint replacements being done annually, a clear understanding of the pathogenesis, clinical picture, preimplant screening, postimplant workup, and treatment plan is crucial. This review article looked at all the available evidence regarding metal hypersensitivity and summarized the key findings. An algorithm was also proposed for preimplant screening, postimplant workup, and management.
