Hemangiopericytoma/solitary fibrous tumor of pectoralis major muscle mimicking a breast mass

Combined treatments with microballoon catheters and multiple cryoablation probes for shoulder-subclavian soft tissue hemangiopericytoma: A case report

We describe a case of a 65-year-old woman affected by hemangiopericytoma/solitary fibrous tumor of the right shoulder-subclavian region. Hemangiopericytoma/solitary fibrous tumor is a rare tumor of uncertain malignancy. She reports shoulder pain and inability to abduct the arm and elevate the shoulder. Imaging showed erosion of the scapula. The patient underwent 5 sessions of "on demand" embolization in the previous 2 years scheduled for recurrence of symptoms-swelling of tissues. Further 2 treatments were achieved through embolization via 2 different microballoon catheter combined with percutaneous cryoablation with 5 probes. Images after the treatment demonstrate a marked reduction in the hypervascularized area and an increase in the necrosis area. So, this combined treatment is safety and reproducible also in extrahepatic tissue.

Large Solitary Fibrous Tumor (SFT) of the penis- a case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND

Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are very rare spindle cell neoplasms of mesenchymal origin with largely benign course of disease. Genital SFT's can be managed providing excellent functional and psychological outcomes by timely intervention.

CASE PRESENTATION

We report the largest and possibly the second only reported case of penile SFT in a 34 year male presenting with a gradually increasing perineal mass with clinically normal appearing phallus. MRI revealed a 9.8 × 3.2 cm soft tissue mass arising from left corpora cavernosae, the mass was excised en-bloc via a perineal approach under spinal anaesthesia. Histopathology revealed spindle cell tumor embedded in myxohyaline stroma along with hyalinized vascular channels demonstrating IHC positivity for CD34 and STAT6. The patient is disease free post 2 years of resection with no sexual or urinary dysfunctions.

CONCLUSION

Genital SFTs, although rare, should be considered in the differential diagnosis of well-circumscribed, painless, slow growing solid masses and histopathologists must be vigilant of its malignant characteristics.

[Treatment of a patient with giant solitary fibrous tumor of the left hip]

The authors report surgical treatment of a 59-year-old female with a giant solitary-fibrous tumor of the left hip. Previous excision of hip hemangioma was performed in 2016. Recurrent tumor with fast growth has occurred since 2018. The neoplasm consisted of 2 tumors connected by vascular structures. CT revealed soft tissue neoplasms in the upper third of the left thigh (anterior, medial and dorsal regions). Large tumors with an isthmus along the inner surface had tuberous contours and internal septa. The last ones and walls accumulated contrast agent. No structural damage to femoral muscles was observed. The patient underwent resection of tumor and vascular ligation (great saphenous vein and its tributaries along the anterior surface, arteries from the deep femoral artery system along the posterior surface of tumor). There were no early postoperative complications. There are no complaints within 6 month after surgery. There is no lower limb dysfunction.

Vascular chest wall lesion mimicking a breast tumor on screening mammograms: Report of a case

Vascular lesions in the chest wall muscles are extremely rare and can cause diagnostic difficulties on screening mammograms. We describe a case of venous malformation of the pectoralis muscle, diagnosed during routine screening, in a 60-year-old woman. The mammograms showed a mass over the chest wall, projecting in the breast parenchyma. The ultrasound was not diagnostic. The definite diagnosis was made using MRI, and to our knowledge, only 1 similar case has been reported so far, but this is the only asymptomatic case depicted during screening services.

Hemangiopericytoma of the breast: a case report and a review of the literature

Introduction. Sarcomas of the breast are rare and hemangiopericytoma (HPC) of the breast is even rarer. Case Report. We report a case of a 43-year-old woman who presented with a 4 cm mass in her right breast. Her family history was positive for breast cancer. A fine needle aspiration indicated a malignant vascular tumor. An excision biopsy and frozen section analysis confirmed the presence of an encapsulated mesenchymal tumor. Its morphology and immunohistochemical marker profile were characteristic for a malignant hemangiopericytoma. Thus, she underwent a tumor excision without an axilla sampling. Approximately one year after the surgery the patient is well without local recurrence or metastasis disease to be observed. We also reviewed the literature and discuss the treatment options, characteristics, and immunophenotype of HPC. Conclusions. The accurate diagnosis of HPC depends on the appropriate histological and immunohistochemical examination. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice and due to scarcity of cases and unpredictable biological behavior of these tumors long term follow-up may be warranted.

Malignant solitary fibrous tumor of breast: a rare case report

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is rare mesenchymal neoplasm that has been originally and most often documented in the pleura. Recently, the ubiquitous nature of the SFT has been recognized with reports of involvement of numerous sites all over the body such as: upper respiratory tract, somatic tissue, mediastinum, head, and neck. Less than 10 cases SFT of breast have been reported. Herein, we presented a 52-year-old Asian female with SFT of breast, this tumor showed predominant malignant features. To our knowledge, SFT of breast with such malignant evidence is extremely rare.
