How involvement, IS management effectiveness, and end-user computing impact IS performance in manufacturing firms

Dependency beetween IT project success and the communication with project stakeholders - intuitionistic fuzzy sets approach

The paper is based on a survey analyzing the success of IT projects in Poland as function of the cooperation with different stakeholders. The project’s participants expressed their subjective opinions on the effectiveness of the collective cooperation with various stakeholder groups. The impact of cooperation with different stakeholder groups: project team, management of the project implementation unit, suppliers and end users of the final product on the success of the project is examined. To this end, intuitionistic fuzzy sets, a correlation coefficient of intuitionistic fuzzy sets and an original method of intuitionistic fuzzy regression are applied. The conclusions point to the most important stakeholder groups for the complete success and for the avoidance of a complete failure of IT projects. Some possibilities of the extension of the proposed method are indicated, so that the decision maker can adopt it to his or her preferences in searching for project success or failure factors.

Factors Influencing Laboratory Information System Effectiveness Through Strategic Planning in Shiraz Teaching Hospitals

This study aimed to develop and test a research model that examined 7effective factors on the effectiveness of laboratory information system (LIS) through strategic planning. This research was carried out on total laboratory staff, information technology staff, and laboratory managers in Shiraz (a city in the south of Iran) teaching hospitals by structural equation modeling approach in 2015. The results revealed that there was no significant positive relationship between decisions based on cost-benefit analysis and LIS functionality with LIS effectiveness, but there was a significant positive relationship between other factors and LIS effectiveness. As expected, high levels of strategic information system planning result in increasing LIS effectiveness. The results also showed that the relationship between cost-benefit analysis, LIS functionality, end-user involvement, and information technology-business alignment with strategic information system planning was significant and positive.

Involving End Users to Mitigate Risk in IS Development Projects

In this paper the authors aim to gain insight into the relationship between user participation modes and project risk factors, and then they constructed a model that can be used to determine how user participation can be successfully applied in ISD projects with a given set of risk factors. The authors performed an in-depth literature review, which aims to clarify the concept of user participation as part of risk management. They then report on the results of a case study in Cap Gemini where we conduct an exploratory research of the application of user participation in practice. For this exploratory research, a quantitative and qualitative research method was designed in the form of a survey and interviews. Through the results from their case study, the authors gained insight into the relationship between user participation and IS project risk and also determine how user participation can be used to mitigate such risk.

Sustainable e-Recruiting Portals

Since most e-recruiting portals suffer from outdated applicant profiles and receive little user return as soon as applicants have found a new job, in this study, the authors explore how to motivate applicants to keep their profiles up-to-date and stay connected with one specific recruiting portal throughout their careers. The authors interviewed applicants, system analysts and programmers of an Austrian e-recruiting portal. Narratives showing striking differences between these three stakeholders’ interpretation of system requirements for long-term usage are discussed. The identified requirements point to niche recruiting: integrating social network and community features for specified user segments sharing a similar social identity and fostering pre-existing offline ties among users for career purposes. Implications are sketched for more sustainable e-recruiting research, design and development.
