Crystal engineering of Pd(II) compounds with 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazolate or 6-amino-2-mercaptobenzothiazolate

Unprecedented palladium(ii) complex containing dipodal 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives: synthesis, structure, and biological and thermal investigations

The synthesis and characterization of a novel palladium complex based on a bioactive 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivative has been investigated. This novel complex showed excellent antibacterial activity and its thermolysis resulted in PdO nanoparticles.

Synthesis, spectral and luminescence study, crystal structure determination and DFT calculation of binuclear palladium(II) complexes

Binuclear palladium(II) complexes with metal-metal (d⁸-d⁸) bonding interaction were synthesized by reactions of the 1-methyl-1H-1,2,3,4-tetrazole-5-thiol (Hmtzt) or a mixture of Hmtzt and 1,3-propanediamine (1,3-pda) ligands. Complex [Pd₂(μ-mtzt)₄]·2CH₃CN (1) was synthesized by the reaction of Pd(OAc)₂ with Hmtzt dissolved in acetonitrile and complex [Pd₂(μ-mtzt)₂(mtzt)₂(1,3-pda)] (2) was synthesized by reaction of a mixture of Hmtzt and 1,3-propanediamine (dissolved in methanol) with PdCl₂ (dissolved in acetonitrile) and were identified through elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, ¹H NMR, luminescence spectroscopy as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. A single-crystal of complex 1 shows that two Pd(II) centers are linked together by four bridging tetrazole ligands providing a paddle wheel-like arrangement. Also a crystal structure of complex 2 shows that this complex possesses a symmetric structure in which one Pd atom is tetra-coordinated by four sulfur atoms to forms PdS₄ and other Pd atom is tetra-coordinated by four nitrogen to forms PdN₄ coordination sphere. Density functional theory (DFT) was performed in this study for the Hmtzt ligand and binuclear palladium(II) complexes (1) and (2). The DFT calculation shows Pd^II-Pd^II bond lengths of 2.831 and 3.086Å in complex 1 and 2, respectively which are close to the observed bond lengths of 2.802(11) and 3.0911(17)Å from single-crystal X-ray structure. The optimized geometry of the complexes is shown good agreement by X-ray data. Structural properties and molecular descriptors including bond lengths, bond angles, chemical hardness, dipole moment, HOMO-LUMO energy levels, electron transfer were analyzed. The IR spectroscopy was performed using VEDA4 software and UV-Vis spectra were analyzed using time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) method. The theoretical and experimental data were also compared with each other.

Ligand-coupling assembly of Re(i)-thiolate complexes

Complexes 2 and 4 were synthesized under similar reaction conditions except that different ligands of HNS₂ and HNOS, respectively, were used. Two dinuclear structures of 2 and 4 with two similar in situ ligand analogues show distinct conformations, anti and syn forms, respectively.

trans-Bis(5-amino-1,3,4-thia-diazol-2-thio-lato-κS(2))bis-(triphenyl-phosphane-κP)palladium(II) dimethyl sulfoxide disolvate hemihydrate

The title complex, [Pd(C₂H₂N₃S₂)₂(C₁₈H₁₅P)₂]·2C₂H₆OS·0.5H₂O, was obtained from the reaction of trans-[(Ph₃P)₂PdCl₂] with 5-amino-1,3,4-thia­diazole-2-thione (SSNH₂) in a 2:1 molar ratio. The Pd^II atom, located in a crystallographic center of symmetry, has a square-planar geometry with two triphenyl­phosphine P-coordinated mol­ecules and two SSNH₂ ligands with the S atoms in a trans conformation. The latter ligand exhibits N—H⋯N hydrogen-bonding contacts formed by the amino group with the thia­diazole ring, generating a chain along the c axis. The asymmetric unit contains one half of the complex mol­ecule along with disordered dimethyl sulfoxide and water mol­ecules.

A one-dimensional cadmium(II) complex supported by a sulfur-nitro-gen mixed-donor ligand

In the title compound, catena-poly[cadmium(II)-bis­(μ-5-am­ino-1,3,4-thia­diazole-2-thiol­ato)-κ²N³:S²;κ²S²:N³], [Cd(C₂H₂N₃S₂)₂]_n, the Cd^II ion is coordinated by two N atoms of the 1,3,4-thia­diazole rings from two ligands and two S atoms of sulfhydryl from two other ligands in a slightly distorted tetra­hedral geometry. The ligands bridge Cd^II ions, forming one-dimensional chains along [001], which are connected by N—H⋯N and N—H⋯S hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.
