Abstract
Utility of pyrazoles and their derivatives in constructing ordered porous materials with physicochemical characteristics such as chemosensors has undoubtedly created much interest in developing newer frameworks. A variety of pyrazole based chemosensors are known for their remarkable photophysical, pH sensitivity, solvatochromic, ion detection, high quantum yields and nonlinear optical behavior. Many of the transition metals have shown beneficial biological effects in biological systems. There is always a need of continuous monitoring to maintain an adequate range of all and specifically for the toxic ones like mercury. Pyrazoline nanoparticle probes have been reported for sensing/detection of Hg2+ions. Pyridinyl pyrazoline and benzimidazolyl pyrazole derived sensors are more selective and sensitive towards Zn2+and Fe3+ ions respectively. Pyrazole derived metal organic frameworks (MOF's) have been reported for environmental monitoring and biological imaging. Keeping in view of the enormous synthetic and biological importance of pyrazoles, herein, we are presenting an overview on applications of pyrazoles in transition metal chemosensors.

Abstract
We report here the synthesis of a 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene 8, with bis-pyrazolylmethylpyrenes on the one end and bis-triazolylmethylphenyls on the other end, as a homoditropic fluorescent sensor for both Hg2+ and Ag+ ions. Calix[4]arene 3, with lower-rim bis-pyrazolylmethylpyrenes in cone conformation, was also synthesized as a control compound. UV-Vis and fluorescence spectra were used for metal ions screening, and we found that both ligands 8 and 3 showed strong excimer emission of pyrenes when they are as a free ligand in CHCl3/MeOH (v/v, 3:1) solution; however, they both showed a high selectivity toward Hg2+ and Ag+ ions with strong fluorescence quenching and yet with different binding ratios. The fluorescence of ligand 8 was strongly quenched by Hg2+ but was only partially quenched by Ag+ ions; however, the fluorescence of ligand 3 was strongly quenched by Hg2+, Ag+, and Cu2+ ions. Job plot experiments showed that ligand 8 formed a 1:2 complex with both Hg2+ and Ag+ ions; ligand 3 formed a 1:1 complex with Hg2+, but it formed a 2:3 complex with Ag+. The binding constant of ligand 3 with Hg2+ and Ag+ ions was determined by the Benesi-Hildebrand plot of UV-vis titration experiments to be 2.99 × 103 and 3.83 × 103 M−1, respectively, while the association constant of ligand 8 with Hg2+ and Ag+ was determined by Hill plot to be 1.46 × 1012 and 9.24 × 1011 M−2, respectively. Ligand 8 forms a strong complex with either two Hg2+ or two Ag+ ions using both the upper and lower rims of the 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene as the binding pockets; hence, it represents one of the highly selective fluorescent sensors for the homoditropic sensing of Hg2+ and Ag+ ions.

Abstract
An efficient fluorescent probe Pyr-Rhy based on pyrazole was developed, which can detect Hg2+ in water. Its fluorescence properties were studied by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, and the study results indicated that this probe can selectively detect Hg2+via complexation reaction, and then cause a remarkable color change from colorless to pink and a strong fluorescence enhancement can be observed. Furthermore, this probe showed high sensitivity with the detection limit down to 2.07 × 10−8 M, and its stoichiometric ratio toward Hg2+ ions was 1 : 1. The sensing mechanism was investigated by Job's plot 1H NMR titrations, and FT-IR spectra analysis, which demonstrated a chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF) mechanism. More importantly, obvious color changes of sensor Pyr-Rhy can be observed when it was impregnated on filter paper testing strips and immersed in Hg2+ solution (water as solution), indicating its potential application for trace Hg2+ detection in environmental samples. An efficient fluorescent probe Pyr-Rhy based on pyrazole was developed, which can detect Hg2+ in water.![]()

Abstract
A novel chemosensor based on pyrazole biscoumarin molecule "4-hydroxy-3-((4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)(1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)methyl)-2H-chromen-2-one" (PBC) was synthesized by a simple method. The chemosensing properties of PBC towards transition metal ions like Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) by naked eye, UV-Visible and fluorescence spectroscopic methods were described. The PBC solution with Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) ion showed brown and blue colour respectively. The UV-Visible spectra of PBC with Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) ions exposed their corresponding absorption maxima. Further, the Job's plot method confirmed the 1:1 and 2:1 stoichiometry of the complex formation between the PBC with Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) ions respectively. The fluorescence enhancement of PBC on binding with Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) is due to the inhibition of photo induced electron transfer mechanism.

Abstract
A series of pyrazolylbisindole (PBI) derivatives were prepared by simple condensation of indole and pyrazole aldehyde utilizing amorphous mesoporous ZrTUD-1 having predominant Lewis acid sites. The applicability of pyrazolylbisindolyl derivate as a colorimetric chemosensor with high selectivity toward Cu(2+) over other cations were tested. Among heavy and transition metal (HTM) ions in CH3CN solution, the probe only sensed Cu(2+) detectable by naked eye. The sensor exhibited a new absorption band at 488 nm (a red shift of 206 nm from 282 nm) with a large colorimetric response and affinity to Cu(2+) over other cations tested (Al(3+), Pb(2+), Cd(2+), Mg(2+), Mn(2+), Zn(2+), K(+), Fe(2+), Ca(2+), Cu(2+) and Hg(2+)).

Abstract
New pyrazole-porphyrin conjugates were successfully prepared from a reaction of β-porphyrin-chalcone derivatives with phenylhydrazine in acetic acid followed by an oxidative step. This fast and efficient synthetic approach provided the expected compounds in yields up to 82%. The sensing ability of the new porphyrin-pyrazole derivatives to detect the metal ions Ag(+), Na(+), K(+), Mg(2+), Ca(2+), Ni(2+), Cu(2+), Zn(2+), Cd(2+), Hg(2+), Pb(2+), and Cr(3+) was studied by spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric titrations. In the presence of Zn(2+), the conjugates exhibit changes in the emission spectra that are desired for a ratiometric-type fluoroionophoric detection probe. The studies were extended to gas phase, where the pyrazole-porphyrin conjugates show ability to sense metal ions with high selectivity toward Cu(2+) and Ag(+), and in poly(methyl methacrylate) doped films with promising results for Zn(2+) detection.

Abstract
Copper is a highly toxic environmental pollutant with bioaccumulative properties. Therefore, sensitive Cu(2+) detection is very important to prevent over-ingestion, and visual detection using unaugmented vision is preferred for practical applications. In this study, hyperbranched polyethyleneimine-protected silver nanoclusters (hPEI-AgNCs) were successfully synthesized using a facile, one-pot reaction under mild conditions. The hPEI-AgNCs were very stable against extreme pH, ionic strength, temperature, and photoillumination and could act as sensitive and selective Cu(2+) sensing nanoprobes in aqueous solutions with a 10 nM limit of detection. In addition, hPEI-AgNCs-doped agarose hydrogels were developed as an instrument-free and regenerable platform for visual Cu(2+) and water quality monitoring.
