Polyoxometalate-induced different metal–organic frameworks based on isonicotinic acid and AgI ion: Syntheses, structures and properties

Tungsten and Molybdenum Heteropolyanions with Different Central Ions—Correlation between Theory and Experiment

Density functional theory calculations were carried out to investigate the electronic structures of Keggin-typed [XMo₁₂O₄₀]ⁿ⁻ and [XW₁₂O₄₀]ⁿ⁻ anions with different heteroatoms (X = Zn²⁺, B³⁺, Al³⁺, Ga³⁺, Si⁴⁺, Ge⁴⁺, P⁵⁺, As⁵⁺, and S⁶⁺). The influence of solvent on redox properties of heteropolyanions was discussed. For [XW₁₂O₄₀]ⁿ⁻ systems two linear correlation: first, between the experimental redox potential and energies of LUMO orbital; and second, between the experimental redox potential and total energy interaction (calculated between internal tetrahedron (XO₄ⁿ⁻), and rest of Kegging anion skeleton, (W₁₂O₃₆)) were designated. Taking into account the similarity of XW₁₂O₄₀ⁿ⁻ and XMo₁₂O₄₀ⁿ⁻ systems (in geometry and electronic structure), the estimated redox potential of molybdenum heteropolyanions (with X being p block elements) in different solvent were proposed.

Two new polyoxometalate-based metal-organic complexes for the detection of trace Cr(VI) and their capacitor performance

Two new Keggin-type polyoxometalate (POM)-based metal-organic complexes (MOCs) H3[Cu2(4-dpye)2(PMo12O40)] (1) and H[Cu2(4-Hdpye)2(PMo12O40)(H2O)4]·2H2O (2) were constructed with a new N,N'-bis (4-pyrimidinecarboxamido)-1,2-ethane (4-H2dpye) ligand by the hydrothermal/solvothermal method. Complex 1 was a 2D layered structure constructed from 1D metal-organic chains [Cu(4-dpye)]n and Keggin-type [PMo12O40]3- polyoxoanions. Complex 2 displays a 3D supramolecular framework formed by discrete [PMo12O40]3- polyoxoanions and binuclear metal-organic loops [Cu2(4-Hdpye)2]. The electrocatalytic behaviors of carbon paste electrodes modified by complexes 1 and 2 (1-CPE and 2-CPE) were investigated. The 1-CPE and 2-CPE were used as electrochemical sensors to detect trace Cr(vi), and the low limits of detection (LOD) are 1.27 × 10-7 M for 1 and 1.71 × 10-7 M for 2, which are lower than the maximum allowable concentration of Cr(vi) in drinking water specified by the World Health Organization (WHO). In addition, the performances of complexes 1 and 2 modified carbon cloth electrodes (1-CC and 2-CC) as supercapacitor materials have also been studied. The influence of the structure on electrocatalytic and capacitor performances is discussed.

Assembly, structures and properties of polyoxometalate-based supramolecular complexes involving in situ transformation of single-branch N-donor cyano ligands

A series of polyoxometalate-based supramolecular complexes were prepared with in situ transformation of single-branch N-donor cyano ligands, exhibiting diverse structures and good electrocatalytic and photocatalytic properties.

Preparation of polyoxometalate-doped aminosilane-modified silicate hybrid as a new barrier of chem-bio toxicant

Nanohybrid membranes based on the Keggin-type polyoxometalate (POM) H5PV2Mo10O40 and aminosilane-modified silicate (Ormosil and Ormosil(NR4+Cl-)) hybrids were synthesized as a new barrier to protect against simulants of chemical and biological toxicant. The 31P NMR and XPS results indicated that POM was bound to the Ormosil and Ormosil(NR4+Cl-) hybrids after impregnation. The antibacterial effects of the hybrids and hybrid-impregnated fabrics against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria were investigated with zone of inhibition, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) and plate-counting method. The MIC/MBC values of Ormosil(NR4+Cl-)/POM and Ormosil/POM against bacteria were 0.267/2.67 and 2.67/26.7, respectively, and the percentage reduction of bacteria was approximately 100% after 20 laundry cycles of their fabrics. The reaction products and mechanisms of the adsorptive degradation of 2-chloroethylethylsulfide (CEES) by hybrids were investigated with 13C NMR. The results of this study showed that POM-doped Ormosil systems are capable of destroying bacteria and CEES.

A robust polyoxometalate-templated four-fold interpenetrating metal–organic framework showing efficient organic dye photodegradation in various pH aqueous solutions

A polyoxometalate-templated four-fold interpenetrating 3-D MOF of 1 acts as a photocatalyst, which can efficiently degrade the organic dyes under UV-Vis light irradiation in aqueous solutions over a wide pH range.
