Abstract
In this review, we describe the developments in the field of naphthalene diimides (NDIs) from 2016 to the presentday. NDIs are shown to be an increasingly interesting class of molecules due to their electronic properties, large electron deficient aromatic cores and tendency to self-assemble into functional structures. Almost all NDIs possess high electron affinity, good charge carrier mobility, and excellent thermal and oxidative stability, making them promising candidates for applications in organic electronics, photovoltaic devices, and flexible displays. NDIs have also been extensively studied due to their potential real-world uses across a wide variety of applications including supramolecular chemistry, sensing, host-guest complexes for molecular switching devices, such as catenanes and rotaxanes, ion-channels, catalysis, and medicine and as non-fullerene accepters in solar cells. In recent years, NDI research with respect to supramolecular assemblies and mechanoluminescent properties has also gained considerable traction. Thus, this review will assist a wide range of readers and researchers including chemists, physicists, biologists, medicinal chemists and materials scientists in understanding the scope for development and applicability of NDI dyes in their respective fields through a discussion of the main properties of NDI derivatives and of the status of emerging applications.

Abstract
Coordination polymers are constructed from metal ions and bridging ligands, linking them into solid-state structures extending in one (1D), two (2D) or three dimensions (3D). Two- and three-dimensional coordination polymers with potential voids are often referred to as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) or porous coordination polymers. Luminescence is an important property of coordination polymers, often playing a key role in their applications. Photophysical properties of the coordination polymers can be associated with intraligand, metal-centered, guest-centered, metal-to-ligand and ligand-to-metal electron transitions. In recent years, a rapid growth of publications devoted to luminescent or fluorescent coordination polymers can be observed. In this review the use of fluorescent ligands, namely, 4,4'-stilbenedicarboxylic acid, 1,3,4-oxadiazole, thiazole, 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole, terpyridine and carbazole derivatives, naphthalene diimides, 4,4',4''-nitrilotribenzoic acid, ruthenium(II) and iridium(III) complexes, boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives, porphyrins, for the construction of coordination polymers are surveyed. Applications of such coordination polymers based on their photophysical properties will be discussed. The review covers the literature published before April 2020.

The number of carboxyl groups and functional group positions of the carboxylates have an important influence on the structures of the title complexes. The fluorescent responses of 1-6 towards Fe3+, anions, aspartic acid and bovine serum albumin were investigated. Among them, 4 shows sensitivity and selectivity (KSV = 1.16 × 104 L mol-1 for Fe3+, 1.03 × 104 L mol-1 for CrO42-, 1.08 × 104 L mol-1 for Cr2O72-, 1.17 × 104 L mol-1 for MnO4- and 1.05 × 104 L mol-1 for aspartic acid).

Abstract
A novel microporous metal-organic framework (FJU-44), with abundant accessible nitrogen sites on its internal surface, was constructed from the tetrapodal tetrazole ligand tetrakis(4-tetrazolylphenyl)ethylene (H4TTPE) and copper chloride. Notably, the CO2 uptake capacity (83.4 cm3/g, at 273 K and 1 bar) in the activated FJU-44a is higher than most of tetrazolate-containing MOF materials. Particularly, FJU-44a exhibits superior adsorption selectivity of CO2/N2 (278-128) and CO2/CH4 (44-16), which is comparable to some well-known CO2 capture materials. Furthermore, the fixed-bed breakthrough experiment indicates that the postcombustion flue gas flow over a packed column with FJU-44a adsorbents can be effectively separated.
