Blue luminescent silver(I) complexes constructed by 2-diphenylphosphinopyridine and dicyanamide or tricyanomethanide

Solid-state 31 P and 109 Ag CP/MAS NMR as a powerful tool for studying of silver(I) complexes with N-thiophosphorylated thiourea and thioamide ligands

A family of three- and four-coordinated silver(I) complexes of formulas [Ag(PPh₃ )₂ L], [Ag(PPh₃ )L], and [AgL]_n with N-thiophosphorylated thiourea and thioamide ligands of general formula RC(S)NHP(S)(OPri)₂ [R = Ph, PhNH, iPrNH, tBuNH, NH₂ ] have been studied by solid-state ¹⁰⁹ Ag and ³¹ P CPMAS NMR spectroscopy. ¹⁰⁹ Ag NMR spectra have provided valuable structural information about Ag coordination, which is in good accordance with the available crystal structure data. The data presented in this work represent a significant addition to the available ¹⁰⁹ Ag chemical shifts and chemical shifts anisotropies. The silver chemical shift ranges for different P,S-environments and coordination state were discussed in detail. The ¹ J(³¹ P-^107/109 Ag) and ² J(³¹ P-³¹ P) values were determined and analyzed.

Coinage Metal Complexes of Bis(quinoline-2-ylmethyl)phenylphosphine-Simple Reactions Can Lead to Unprecedented Results

The different coordination behavior of the flexible yet sterically demanding, hemilabile P,N ligand bis(quinoline‐2‐ylmethyl)phenylphosphine (bqmpp) towards selected Cu^I, Ag^I and Au^I species is described. The resulting X‐ray crystal structures reveal interesting coordination geometries. With [Cu(MeCN)₄]BF₄, compound 1 [Cu₂(bqmpp)₂](BF₄)₂ is obtained, wherein the copper(I) atoms display a distorted square planar and square pyramidal geometry. The steric demand and π‐stacking of the ligand allow for a short Cu⋅⋅⋅Cu distance (2.588(9) Å). Cu^I complex 2 [Cu₄Cl₃(bqmpp)₂]BF₄ contains a rarely observed Cu₄Cl₃ cluster, probably enabled by dichloromethane as the chloride source. In the cluster, even shorter Cu⋅⋅⋅Cu distances (2.447(1) Å) are present. The reaction of Ag[SbF₆] with the ligand leads to a dinuclear compound (3) in solution as confirmed by ³¹P{¹H} NMR spectroscopy. During crystallization, instead of the expected phosphine complex 3, a tris(quinoline‐2‐ylmethyl)bisphenyl‐phosphine (tqmbp) compound [Ag₂(tqmbp)₂](SbF₆)₂4 is formed by elimination of quinaldine. The Au(I) compound [Au₂(bqmpp)₂]PF₆ (5) is prepared as expected and shows a linear arrangement of two phosphine ligands around Au^I.

Synthesis and Thermochromic Luminescence of Ag(I) Complexes Based on 4,6-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-Pyrimidine

Two Ag(I)-based metal-organic compounds have been synthesized exploiting 4,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)pyrimidine (L). The reaction of this ligand with AgNO3 and AgBF4 in acetonitrile produces dinuclear complex, [Ag2L2(MeCN)2(NO3)2] (1) and 1D coordination polymer, [Ag2L(MeCN)3]n(BF4)2n (2), respectively. In complex 1, µ2-P,P′-bridging coordination pattern of the ligand L is observed, whereas its µ4-P,N,N′,P′-coordination mode appears in 2. Both compounds exhibit pronounced thermochromic luminescence expressed by reversible changing of the emission chromaticity from a yellow at 300 K to an orange at 77 K. At room temperature, the emission lifetimes of 1 and 2 are 15.5 and 9.4 µs, the quantum efficiency being 18 and 56%, respectively. On account of temperature-dependent experimental data, the phenomenon was tentatively ascribed to alteration of the emission nature from thermally activated delayed fluorescence at 300 K to phosphoresce at 77 K.
