An analysis of the stability and chattering reduction of high-order sliding mode tracking control for a hypersonic vehicle

Robust Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control Design for Robot Manipulators

This paper develops a new robust tracking control design for n-link robot manipulators with dynamic uncertainties, and unknown disturbances. The procedure is conducted by designing two adaptive interval type-2 fuzzy logic systems (AIT2-FLSs) to better approximate the parametric uncertainties on the system nominal. Then, in order to achieve the best tracking control performance and to enhance the system robustness against approximation errors and unknown disturbances, a new control algorithm, which uses a new synthesized AIT2 fuzzy sliding mode control (AIT2-FSMC) law, has been proposed. To deal with the chattering phenomenon without deteriorating the system robustness, the AIT2-FSMC has been designed so as to generate three adaptive control laws that provide the optimal gains value of the global control law. The adaptation laws have been designed in the sense of the Lyapunov stability theorem. Mathematical proof shows that the closed loop control system is globally asymptotically stable. Finally, a 2-link robot manipulator is used as case study to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach.

MEMS gyroscope control using a novel compound robust control

This paper proposes a new compound fractional order integral terminal sliding mode control (FOITSMC) and proportional-derivative control (PD-FOITSMC) for the control of a MEMS gyroscope. In order to improve the robustness of the conventional integral terminal sliding mode control (ITSMC), a fractional integral terminal sliding mode surface is applied. The chattering problem in FOITSMC, which is usually generated by the excitation of fast un-modelled dynamic is the main drawback. A PD controller is employed in order to eliminate chattering phenomenon. The stability of the PD-FOITSMC is proved by Lyapunov theory. The performance of the proposed control method is compared with two other controllers such as ITSMC and FOITSMC. Numerical simulations clearly verified the effectiveness of the proposed control approach.

Tracking error constrained robust adaptive neural prescribed performance control for flexible hypersonic flight vehicle

A robust adaptive neural control scheme based on a back-stepping technique is developed for the longitudinal dynamics of a flexible hypersonic flight vehicle, which is able to ensure the state tracking error being confined in the prescribed bounds, in spite of the existing model uncertainties and actuator constraints. Minimal learning parameter technique–based neural networks are used to estimate the model uncertainties; thus, the amount of online updated parameters is largely lessened, and the prior information of the aerodynamic parameters is dispensable. With the utilization of an assistant compensation system, the problem of actuator constraint is overcome. By combining the prescribed performance function and sliding mode differentiator into the neural back-stepping control design procedure, a composite state tracking error constrained adaptive neural control approach is presented, and a new type of adaptive law is constructed. As compared with other adaptive neural control designs for hypersonic flight vehicle, the proposed composite control scheme exhibits not only low-computation property but also strong robustness. Finally, two comparative simulations are performed to demonstrate the robustness of this neural prescribed performance controller.

Discrete sliding mode controller with reaching phase elimination for TITO systems

Sliding mode control (SMC) is emerged as a powerful robust controller for the process control application. However, it does not posses robustness properties during reaching phase and suffers from chattering, which is undesirable. In this paper, a chatter free discrete sliding mode controller (DSMC) with reaching phase elimination is proposed. The issue of existence of reaching phase due to physical constraints such as saturation of actuating devices is also addressed. The two-input-two-output (TITO) system is decoupled into two single-input-single-output (SISO) systems using ideal decoupler. The DSMCs are separately designed for two decoupled SISO systems. The stability is ensured via Lyapunov approach. Simulation study and experimentation on real life interacting two tank liquid level system are included to demonstrate effectiveness and applicability of the proposed controller.
