Abstract
Visible-light-induced halide-exchange between halide perovskite and organohalide solvents has been studied in which photoinduced electron transfer from CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) to dihalomethane solvent molecules produces halide anions via reductive dissociation, followed by a spontaneous anion-exchange. Photogenerated holes in this process are less focused. Here, for CsPbBr3 in dibromomethane (DBM), we discover that Br radical (Br⋅) is a key intermediate resulting from the hole oxidation. We successfully trapped Br⋅ with reported methods and found that Br⋅ is continuously generated in DBM under visible light irradiation, hence imperative for catalytic reaction design. Continuous Br⋅ formation within this halide-exchange process is active for photocatalytic [3+2] cycloaddition for vinylcyclopentane synthesis, a privileged scaffold in medicinal chemistry, with good yield and rationalized diastereoselectivity. The NC photocatalyst is highly recyclable due to Br-based self-healing, leading to a particularly economic and neat heterogeneous reaction where the solvent DBM also acts as a co-catalyst in perovskite photocatalysis. Halide perovskites, notable for efficient solar energy conversion, are demonstrated as exceptional photocatalysts for Br radical-mediated [3+2] cycloaddition. We envisage such perovskite-induced Br radical strategy may serve as a powerful chemical tool for developing valuable halogen radical-involved reactions.

Abstract
[1,2]-Phospha-Brook rearrangement entails the generation of α-oxygenated carbanions via the umpolung process. Recently, these anionic species have been widely utilized for several C-C bond forming strategies, providing various useful frameworks that are difficult to access through conventional approaches. However, the application of this powerful methodology in the development of chiral strategies is still at the nascent stage due to challenges involved in controlling chemoselectivity and enantioselectivity. This synopsis provides a detailed summary of diastereo- and/or enantioselective chemical transformations using [1,2]-phospha-Brook rearrangement.

Abstract
Enones are privileged structural motifs in bioactive natural products and pharmaceuticals, but the γ-hydroxylation of enones is challenging. Here we show a mild and efficient method for the direct C(sp3)-H hydroxylation of enones via visible-light-induced hydrogen-atom transfer (HAT), which facilitates γ-hydroxylation of primary, secondary, and tertiary C-H bonds of different enones without involving metal and peroxide. The mechanism study shows that Na2-eosin Y serves as both the photocatalyst and the source of catalytic bromine radical species in the HAT-based catalytic cycle, and finally sacrifices itself completely by oxidative degradation to produce bromine radical and a major product phthalic anhydride in an environmentally friendly way. This scalable method was demonstrated by plenty of substrates (41 examples) including 10 clinical drugs and 15 natural products to be useful for the late-stage functionalization of enone-containing compounds, and, in particular, has potential application in industry for large-scale production.

Abstract
We report visible light-induced cross-dehydrocoupling of 3-cyanocoumarins with unactivated aliphatic aldehydes for the direct synthesis of 4-acylated coumarins. Inexpensive and readily available (n-Bu)4NBr was used as a precursor of the hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) catalyst and [Ir(ppy)2(dtbbpy)PF6] as a photocatalyst. A variety of aldehydes including linear, branched, cyclic, and α,β-unsaturated aliphatic aldehydes were suitable for this reaction yielding the desired acylated coumarin derivatives in 41-98% yields. This method provides a mild, atom-economical, and environmentally friendly synthetic route for the direct acylation of 3-cyanocoumarins. This is the first example so far of C-4 aliphatic acylation of coumarins.

Abstract
A novel organobase-catalyzed umpolung reaction of amides was disclosed. This method provides an efficient method to generate and transfer carbamoyl anions. In this transformation, some of the inherent disadvantages of carbamoyl metal were avoided. The mechanistic analysis revealed that the reaction proceeds through polarity inversion of amide, and various carbamoyl anions were applied in the reaction. Moreover, a wide range of substrates was achieved with moderate to excellent yield.

Abstract
![]()
A dual catalytic
manifold that enables site-selective functionalization
of unactivated sp3 C–O
bonds in cyclic acetals with aryl and alkyl halides is reported. The
reaction is triggered by an appropriate σ*–p orbital
overlap prior to sp3 C–O
cleavage, thus highlighting the importance of conformational flexibility
in both reactivity and site selectivity. The protocol is characterized
by its excellent chemoselectivity profile, thus offering new vistas
for activating strong σ sp3 C–O linkages.
