Abstract
The study aimed to evaluate the clinical significance of thyroid hormone-responsive (THRSP) and explore its relevant pathways in thyroid carcinoma (THCA). The gene expression data of THRSP were obtained and the prognostic significance of THRSP in THCA was analyzed through various bioinformatics databases. Then, the factors influencing THRSP mRNA expression were explored, and the function of THRSP in predicting the lymph node metastasis (LNM) stage was determined. We further performed the enrichment analysis and constructed a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network to examine potential regulatory pathways associated with THRSP. THRSP gene expression was significantly increased in THCA compared with the normal tissues. High THRSP mRNA expression had a favorable overall survival (OS) in THCA patients (P < .05). Additionally, the mRNA expression of THRSP was related to stage, histological subtype, and methylation among THCA patients (all P < .05). Besides, THRSP served as a potent predictor in discriminating the LNM stage of thyroid cancer patients. According to Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) on THRSP-associated genes, THRSP was positively related to metabolic pathways. The upregulation of THRSP predicted a good OS in THCA patients. Furthermore, THRSP might inhibit THCA progression through positive regulation of metabolism-associated pathways.

Abstract
Ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is one of the main environmental air pollutants that is closely related to the development of lung cancer, but the mechanisms are unclear. In this study, A549 cells were exposed to ambient PM2.5 to investigate the alterations of biological behaviors, and the possible role of miR-582-3p in the effects was further explored. The findings showed that PM2.5 exposure could significantly enhance the biological behaviors of A549 cells, and promote their epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) transformation, especially at relatively low doses. Over-activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and increased expression of miR-582-3p were also found in A549 cells after PM2.5 exposure. After the knockdown of miR-582-3p in A549 cells, the effects of PM2.5 on malignant biological behavior changes, EMT, and the activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway were all significantly alleviated. Furthermore, the inhibition of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway also inhibited the EMT process of A549 cells, which was rescued by the overexpression of miR-582-3p. Therefore, this study showed that ambient PM2.5 can upregulate the expression of miR-582-3p, consequently activate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, and thereby enhance EMT transformation and promote the malignant biological behaviors of A549 cells. These findings provide evidence for further research into the mechanisms by which exposure to PM2.5 in the environment promotes lung cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the outcomes of nonsuspicious contralateral nodules with active surveillance in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). METHODS 4pt?>Consecutive patients who underwent lobectomy for PTC were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with one or more nodules with nonsuspicious ultrasonography (US) features in the contralateral lobe were included. RESULTS Two hundred and eighty-three patients were included. All patients underwent thyroid lobectomy with ipsilateral prophylactic central neck dissection. A total of 123 patients (43.5%) were classified as ATA low-risk, and 160 patients (56.5%) were classified as intermediate-risk. The median size of the contralateral nodules was 3 mm (range, 2 to 16 mm). After a period of follow-up, the median size change of contralateral nodules was 0 mm (range, -7 to 8 mm). Eight patients (2.8%) had nodule growth >3 mm, 223 patients (78.8%) had stable or decreased nodules, and 52 patients (18.4%) had no detectable nodules. Nodules in 24 patients had suspicious US features, 16 of which were diagnosed with PTMC by either cytology after FNA (in 7 patients) or histopathology after completion thyroidectomy (in 9 patients). Another four patients received completion thyroidectomy for ipsilateral cervical lymph node metastasis. The 5-year residual lobe recurrence (RLR) rate and recurrence-free survival (RFS) rate were 7.4% and 89.8%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that multifocality and ATA intermediate-risk were independent predictors for RLR (HR4.083, 95%CI 1.480-11.261, P = 0.007; HR 6.045, 95%CI 1.370-26.662, P = 0.017, respectively) and RFS (HR 5.240, 95%CI 2.114-12.991, P < 0.001; HR 5.223, 95%CI 1.353-17.765, P = 0.008, respectively). CONCLUSIONS Active surveillance for nonsuspicious contralateral nodules in patients with low-risk and selected intermediate-risk PTC is safe. Multifocality and ATA intermediate-risk are predicters for recurrence. Early detection and salvage surgery are effective.

Abstract
BACKGROUND TIR3B thyroid nodules are considered to be at risk of malignancy (15-30%) but guidelines recommend conservative surgery with lobectomy with primary diagnostic porpoise. Risk stratification mainly based on ultrasound, elastography and genetic mutations usually may influences the surgical approach. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 52 cases of TIR3B underwent between 2015 and 2017 total thyroidectomy (TT) and lobectomy (L), focusing mainly on the observed rate of malignancy. Chi-squared test and Fisher's exact probability test were used for analysis, considering a P values less than 0.05 as significant. RESULTS Out of 52 patients 49 underwent TT and 3 L. In TT group a multinodular goiter was associated in 67.3% of patients. Malignancy rate was 81.6 and 33.3% respectively after TT and L (P 0.003). Multicentric and contralateral tumors were detected respectively in 36.7% and in 32.6% of patients underwent TT. No main post-operative complications were registered. CONCLUSIONS Ultrasound and elastography are useful to define within the TIR3B group those lesions at higher risk and therefore requiring a more radical approach. TT seems an appropriate approach to TIR3B lesions, especially in multinodular goiter, considering the incidence of malignancy with probably higher rate than previously reported.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Bilateral thyroid nodularity is considered an indication for total thyroidectomy in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, the natural history and outcome of contralateral nodules have never been studied. OBJECTIVE To investigate the natural history of nonsuspicious contralateral nodules after lobectomy for PTC. METHODS We included patients who had one or more solid nodules (≥3 mm) in the contralateral lobe with benign cytology before surgery or small nonsuspicious nodules per ultrasonography. RESULTS One hundred and twelve patients were included. Median age was 57 years, and median size of the PTC (initial lobectomy) was 8 mm (range, 0.5 to 28 mm). On the contralateral side, the median size of nodules was 7 mm (range, 3 to 30 mm). Thirty-three nodules (29%) had fine-needle aspiration (FNA) before surgery, and all were benign. After a median follow-up of 6 years, median growth was zero (range, -20 to 19 mm). Twenty-six nodules (23%) increased ≥3 mm in size (median, 6 mm; range, 4 to 19 mm). Twenty patients (18%) developed new nodules. Twelve patients (11%) underwent completion thyroidectomy for growth (three), suspicious FNA (seven; Bethesda III to V), malignancy (one), or unknown reason (one). Overall, according to the completion thyroidectomy specimen, six patients (5%) were diagnosed with contralateral PTC (five micro-PTCs, one 20 mm), and all were without evidence of disease at the end of follow-up. There were no surgical difficulties or local complications during completion surgery. CONCLUSIONS Lobectomy for low-risk patients with a small PTC and nonsuspicious contralateral thyroid nodule(s) is a reliable and safe initial treatment option. In the few patients who required completion thyroidectomy, treatment with surgery and radioiodine was effective.

Abstract
The aberrant expression of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) is implicated in cancer development and progression. This study was aimed to investigate the expression and clinical significance of lncRNA NONHSAT129183 in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), and to explore its roles in PTC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Our results demonstrate that lncRNA NONHSAT129183 is upregulated in human PTC tissues when compared with that in adjacent noncancerous thyroid tissue. Moreover, its expression is correlated with tumor size, lymph node metastasis, and TNM stage in PTC patients. lncRNA NONHSAT129183 silencing also significantly suppressed cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in PTC cell lines. In conclusion, our results suggest that lncRNA NONHSAT129183 plays a critical role in the regulation of PTC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, providing new insights into PTC pathogenesis.
