Abstract
This study explores the stabilization by niobic acid, of Pt, Ni, Pd, and Au nanoparticles (NPs) for the efficient microheterogeneous catalysis of NaBH4 hydrolysis for hydrogen production. Niobic acid is the most widely studied Nb2O5 polymorph, and it is employed here for the first time for this key reaction relevant to green energy. Structural insights from XRD, Raman, and FTIR spectroscopies, combined with hydrogen production data, reveal the role of niobic acid's Brønsted acidity in its catalytic activity. The supported NPs showed significantly higher efficiency than the non-supported counterparts regarding turnover frequency, average hydrogen production rate, and cost. Among the tested NPs, PtNPs and NiNPs demonstrate the most favorable results. The data imply mechanism changes during the reaction, and the kinetic isotope assay indicates a primary isotope effect. Reusability assays demonstrate consistent yields over five cycles for PtNPs, although catalytic efficiency decreases, likely due to the formation of reaction byproducts.

Abstract
Catalytic properties of a crystalline zirconium tungstate, ZrW2O8, the material known mainly for its isotropic negative coefficient of thermal expansion, have been assessed for the liquid-phase selective oxidation of a range of organic substrates comprising CC, OH, S and other functional groups using aqueous hydrogen peroxide as the green oxidant. Samples of ZrW2O8 were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterised by N2 adsorption, PXRD, SEM, EDX, FTIR and Raman spectroscopic techniques. Studies by IR spectroscopy of adsorbed probe molecules (CO and CDCl3) revealed the presence of Brønsted acidic and basic sites on the surface of ZrW2O8. It was demonstrated that ZrW2O8 is able to activate H2O2 under mild conditions and accomplish the epoxidation of CC bonds in alkenes and unsaturated ketones, oxidation of thioethers to sulfoxides and sulfones, along with the oxidation of alcoholic functions to produce ketones and aldehydes. The oxidation of tetramethylethylene and α-terpinene over ZrW2O8 revealed the formation of peroxidation products, 2,3-dimethyl-3-butene-2-hydroperoxide and endoperoxide ascaridole, respectively, indicating the involvement of singlet oxygen in the oxidation process. The ZrW2O8 catalyst preserves its structure and morphology under the turnover conditions and does not suffer from metal leaching. It can be easily recovered, regenerated by calcination, and reused without the loss of activity and selectivity.

Abstract
The Zr-monosubstituted Keggin-type dimeric phosphotungstate (Bu4N)8[{PW11O39Zr(μ-OH)(H2O)}2] (1) efficiently catalyzes epoxidation of C═C bonds in various kinds of alkenes, including terminal ones, with aqueous H2O2 as oxidant. Less sterically hindered double bonds are preferably epoxidized despite their lower nucleophilicity. Basic additives (Bu4NOH) in the amount of 1 equiv per dimer 1 suppress H2O2 unproductive decomposition, increase substrate conversion, improve yield of heterolytic oxidation products and oxidant utilization efficiency, and also affect regioselectivity of epoxidation, enhancing oxygen transfer to sterically hindered electron-rich C═C bonds. Acid additives produce a reverse effect on the substrate conversion and H2O2 efficiency. The reaction mechanism was explored using a range of test substrates, kinetic, and spectroscopic tools. The opposite effects of acid and base additives on alkene epoxidation and H2O2 degradation have been rationalized in terms of their impact on hydrolysis of 1 to form monomeric species, [PW11O39Zr(OH)(H2O)x]4- (1-M, x = 1 or 2), which favors H2O2 homolytic decomposition. The interaction of 1 with H2O2 has been investigated by HR-ESI-MS, ATR-FT-IR, and 31P NMR spectroscopic techniques. The combination of spectroscopic studies and kinetic modeling implicated the existence of two types of dimeric peroxo complexes, [Zr2(μ-η2:η2-O2){PW11O39}2(H2O)x]]8- and [{Zr(μ-η2-O2)}2(PW11O39)2(H2O)y]10-, along with monomeric Zr (hydro)peroxo species that begin to dominate at a high excess of H2O2. Both dimeric μ-η2-peroxo intermediates are inert toward alkenes under stoichiometric conditions. V-shape Hammett plots obtained for epoxidation of p-substituted styrenes suggested a biphilic nature of the active oxidizing species, which are monomeric Zr-hydroperoxo and peroxo species. Small basic additives increase the electrophilicity of the catalyst and decrease its nucleophilicity. HR-ESI-MS has identified a dimeric, most likely, bridging hydroperoxo species [{PW11O39Zr}2(μ-O)(μ-OOH)]9-, which may account for the improved epoxidation selectivity and regioselectivity toward sterically hindered C═C bonds.

Abstract
Fenton-like reaction has been widely used for organics degradation. However, most Fenton-like reaction works at low pH range (pH < 4) with uncontrollable selectivity of hydroxyl radicals from H2 O2 activation, and unsatisfied catalyst stability, which is compromised advanced oxidation performance for water/wastewater treatments. In this work, to solve the drawbacks, novel copper catalysts were fabricated via hydrogen reduction/calcination of Cu2+ -supported Al/MCM-41 with precisely controllable copper valence state. Compared with catalysts with monovalence copper (i.e., CuO, Cu, and Cu2+ ), the obtained catalysts with multivalence copper present higher selectivity, excellent stability towards •OH radical pathways, and outperformance in pCBA degradation efficiency at neutral state. In addition, the fabricated catalysts also exhibited excellent phenol removal efficiency (75.5%) and H2 O2 utilization efficiency (47.9%) within neutral environment. Moreover, the degradation efficiency of phenol approaches to 100% within only 2 h. The catalyst also shows good stability for organic pollutants removal, which shows good potential in catalytic oxidation for phenolic compounds-containing wastewater in Fenton-like reaction, especially under neutral pH conditions. PRACTITIONER POINTS: Multivalence copper presents great potentials for organic compounds removal at neutral condition. Multivalence copper shows higher selectivity toward •OH and good stability at neutral condition. Multivalence copper exhibiters outperformed phenol removal efficiency at neutral condition.

Abstract
This study is devoted to the evaluation of the influence of phosphate dopants on the reactivity of Nb2O5-based nanomaterials in the combined catalytic activation of H2O2 and the elimination of methylene blue (MB) from an aqueous solution via adsorption and chemical degradation. For this purpose, several niobia-based catalysts doped with various amounts of phosphate were prepared by a facile hydrothermal method and subsequent calcination. Phosphate doping was shown to strongly enhance the ability of Nb2O5 to activate H2O2, as well as to adsorb and degrade MB. The most pronounced differences in the reactivity of the parent Nb2O5 and phosphate-doped samples were observed under strongly acidic conditions (pH ~ 2.4), at which the most active modified catalysts (Nb/P molar ratio = 5/1) was approximately 6 times more efficient in the removal of MB. The observed enhancement of reactivity was attributed to the increased generation of singlet oxygen 1O2, which was identified as the main oxidizing agent responsible for efficient degradation of MB. To our knowledge, it is the first report revealing that phosphate doping of Nb2O5 resulted in an improved activity of niobia in the adsorption and degradation of organic pollutants.

Abstract
We present here that easily available organic salts can stabilize/modify niobium (Nb) oxo-clusters. The as-synthesized Nb oxo-clusters have been characterized by various methods. These Nb oxo-clusters were catalytically active for the epoxidation of allylic alcohols and olefins with H2O2 as an oxidant. Notably, Nb-OC@TBAF-0.5 appeared as highly dispersed nanosized particles and showed the highest catalytic activity, which can be attributed to the following reasons on the basis of characterization. First, the strong coordination of fluorine ions with Nb sites and the steric protection with bulky organic cations led to high stabilization and dispersion of the oxo-clusters in the course of the reaction. Second, a hydrogen-bond interaction between the coordinated fluorine atom and the -OH group of allylic alcohol favored the epoxidation reaction. Third, the electron density of Nb sites decreased due to the strong electron-withdrawing ability of F- adjacent to Nb sites, thus promoting the electrophilic oxygen transfer to the C═C bond.

Abstract
For the first time, the co-presence in the saponite structure of luminescent EuIII and catalytic NbV metal sites was exploited for the simultaneous detection and catalytic abatement of sulfur-containing blister chemical warfare agents. Metal centers were introduced in structural positions of the saponite (in the interlayer space or inside the inorganic framework) following two different synthetic methodologies. The functionalized saponites were able to reveal the presence of a sulfur mustard simulant (2-chloroethyl)ethyl sulfide (CEES) after few seconds of contact time and more than 80 % of the substrate was catalytically decomposed after 24 h in the presence of aqueous hydrogen peroxide.

Abstract
Classification of polyoxometalates (POMs) is based on their chemical composition, basically represented by two general formulae: a) [MmOy]p- b) [XxMmOy]q-, where M is the main transition metal, O is the oxygen atom and X can be a non-metal atom such as Si. Additionally, in the most cases, the structure of the polyoxometalates is derived from a combination of octahedral units MO6 with a central metal atom M and the oxygen atoms placed at their corners. In such octahedra, oxygen atoms allow the condensation between two octahedral units, while one oxygen atom (or max. two atoms) makes double bond with the central metal atom and is not shared with other metal atoms within the complex (terminal oxygens). On the other hand, niobium-containing mesoporous silicates contain mainly MO4 tetrahedra and reveal superior activity in heterogeneous catalysis. Thus, the proper coordination of niobium is crucial for the catalytic activity and will be deeply discussed. The similarity in the catalytic behavior of niobium-polyoxometalates and heterogeneous niobium single-site catalysts in selective oxidations will be demonstrated.
