Abstract
Dialkyl carbonates are green and versatile reagents that can be used in alkylation and alkoxycarbonylation reactions. Herein, we disclosed a reductive methoxycarbonylation of aromatic nitro compounds with dimethyl carbonate for the construction of diverse carbamates and N-methyl carbamates. Using Mo(CO)6 as a multiple promoter, different nitroarenes were smoothly transformed into the corresponding carbamates in yields between 27 and 94% using DMC as both solvent and reagent. It is worth noting that the choice of different bases allowed the desired products to be controlled: K3PO4 favoured the formation of carbamates as the primary product, whereas DBU facilitated the formation of N-methyl carbamates as the main product.

Abstract
The direct carbonylation of readily available nitro compounds is more attractive and straightforward than the use of traditional amines as nucleophiles. Herein, a practical palladium-catalysed double carbonylation of nitroarenes with o-dihaloarenes has been developed for the construction of various N-aryl phthalimides. Key to the success of this transformation is the use of Mo(CO)6, which acts as both a reducing agent and a solid carbonyl source. A wide range of nitroarenes and o-dihaloarenes as well as o-iodobenzoic acids reacted smoothly to give phthalimides in 27-94% yields.

Abstract
A new palladium-catalyzed reductive double carbonylation of nitroarenes with aryl halides for the synthesis of benzoxazin-4-ones has been reported. The key to success was the use of Mo(CO)6 as a reductant and bench-stable solid carbonyl sources. Various aryl iodides, bromides, and trifluoromethanesulfonates are suitable reaction partners and produce corresponding benzoxazin-4-one derivatives in moderate to good yields. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicate that nitrosoarene was first generated as the key intermediate through nitro reduction. Remarkably, this method avoids the use of toxic CO gas and is further applied to the late-stage modification of estrone.

Abstract
In this paper, magnetic chitosan is used as a support for the immobilization of copper catalyst (Cu@MChit). The fabricated catalyst is successfully synthesized and characterized by several techniques. The activity of Cu@MChit catalyst is evaluated in the synthesis of novel derivatives of 3-alkyl-2-arylthio-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones. The products are synthesized in three simple steps via Chan–Lam coupling reaction. The synthetic route is based on the reaction of isatoic anhydride and an amine, followed by the reaction with carbon disulfide. Cu@MChit-catalyzed reaction of the obtained intermediate with phenylboronic acid leads to the desired products. The scope of the reaction is confirmed by using various amine and phenylboronic acid derivatives and the products are obtained in high isolated yields.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed carbonylative Sonogashira/annulation reaction for the synthesis of indolo[1,2-b]isoquinolines has been developed. Tetracyclic 6/5/6/6 indoline skeletons were synthesized in moderate to good yields from easily available 2-bromo-N-(2-iodophenyl)benzamides and terminal alkynes. Notably, this efficient methodology established three C-C bonds and a C-N bond through a one-step transformation and provided a new method for the synthesis of indolo[1,2-b]isoquinoline derivatives.

Abstract
An efficient method for the stereoselective synthesis of (Z)-3-((arylamino)methylene)indoline-2-thiones have been developed via a novel multicomponent reaction of indoles, CS2 and nitroarenes. A range of functionalized indoline-2-thiones were prepared in moderate to good yields from easily available starting materials. The indoline-2-thione products can be easily derivatized to give biologically active thieno[2,3-b]indole and thiopyrano[2,3-b]indole skeletons in high yields.

Abstract
The feasibility of using activity-directed synthesis to drive antibacterial discovery was investigated. An array of 220 Pd-catalysed microscale reactions was executed, and the crude product mixtures were evaluated for activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Scale-up of the hit reactions, purification and evaluation, enabled expansion of a class of antibacterial quinazolinones. The novel antibacterials had MICs from 0.016 μg mL-1 (i.e. 38 nM) to 2-4 μg mL-1 against S. aureus ATCC29213.

Abstract
A modular tandem synthesis of 2-carboxybenzofurans from 2-gem-dibromovinylphenols has been established based on a sequence of Cu-catalyzed intramolecular C-O coupling and Mo(CO)6-mediated intermolecular carbonylation reactions. This protocol allowed one-step access to a broad variety of functionalized benzofuran-2-carboxylic acids, esters, and amides in good to excellent yields under Pd- and CO gas-free conditions.

Abstract
A metal-free and efficient procedure for the synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxalines, quinazolinones, and indolo[1,2-a]quinoxaline has been developed. The key features of our method include the in situ generation of aldehyde from α-hydroxy acid in the presence of TBHP (tert-butyl hydrogen peroxide), and further condensation with various amines, followed by intramolecular cyclization and subsequent oxidation to afford the corresponding quinoxalines, quinazolinones derivatives in moderate to high yields. A TBHP mediated, metal-free approach for the synthesis of quinoxalines, quinazolinones, and indolo quinoxaline was developed from alpha hydroxy acids via decarboxylation followed by condensation.![]()

Abstract
Quinazolin-4(3H)-ones have been prepared in one step from 2-aminobenzamides and orthoesters in the presence of acetic acid. Simple 2-aminobenzamides were easily converted to the heterocycles by refluxing in absolute ethanol with 1.5 equivalents of the orthoester and 2 equivalents of acetic acid for 12–24 h. Ring-substituted and hindered 2-aminobenzamides as well as cases incorporating an additional basic nitrogen required pressure tube conditions with 3 equivalents each of the orthoester and acetic acid in ethanol at 110 °C for 12–72 h. The reaction was tolerant towards functionality on the benzamide and a range of structures was accessible. Workup involved removal of the solvent under vacuum and either recrystallization from ethanol or trituration with ether-pentane. Several 5,6-dihydropyrimidin-4(3H)-ones were also prepared from 3-amino-2,2-dimethylpropionamide. All products were characterized by melting point, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and HRMS.
